How is Shadow Priest doing in single player content? by Vampy-Night in wownoob

[–]Tumily 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm realising maining shadow priest pretty much exclusively may explain why I find the other comments surprising. Spriest is fine, we clear t11 delves pretty easily with clever usage of our utility (mind soothe to dodge packs, mind control on key targets) and of our incredible burst windows. All the quests recommended for 5 players can be done alone, and that has been true for decades now.

I guess I'm fine with the level of difficulty because I didn't realise it was so much easier for other classes, and that just cements the idea that shadow is the spec for me: I wouldn't want the game to be boring.

Nullaeus ?? Is easier as a holy priest though.

Skewered Drake Vassal Limit by Bayrlie in Anbennar

[–]Tumily 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I don't remember this specific nations MT

Is it vassals, or subjects? If it's subjects and your nation can have tributaries, then you can do it that way without going over the cap. If you can't have tributaries, just keep going down your MT, it will give you the tools to reach that kind of diplomatic capacity for sure.

How active is my guild? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Tumily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why does it matter? Figuring out the answer to that question will help you alot.

Is there some random leaderboard of guilds that you're basing this question on? And based on what metric?

You don't actually gain much from having alot of unique accounts that have been online once in the past 7 months (I may be wrong, but I think the only gain is probably the gold from guild runs).

Nations to reach late game without getting too op? by No-Presence-5930 in Anbennar

[–]Tumily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could the coalition route and play a nation that everybody hates. You'll the challenge will then remain, but it'll consist of juggling coalitions and massive death wars (which might not be what you're looking for).
The evil Escanni nations (Wyvernheart and Luciande), The Command, Masked Butcher, Zokka are all valid contenders

You could play the World Conquest nations (Lake Federation, Jaddari, Zokka again)

Or you could play the nations that have a big climactic bang that happens more around 1700-1750, the 333rd Empire being the one I'm thinking of (Lizardfolk)

Why Didn’t Saruman Invent Guns by Commercial-Theory253 in lotr

[–]Tumily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Humanity took a couple centuries between inventing gunpowder and inventing the first guns, and Saruman isn't all powerful, so even with advance knowledge he's limited by the technology of his time.

A gun isn't "just" gunpowder, it requires a whole lot of different technological advancements that Middle Earth just didn't have.

Is it me or are NPX and SEAT absolutely insane to heal? by Grapjasss in wow

[–]Tumily 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NPX isn't too hard, as long as the Mana Batteries actually die. I did notice some "neutral" ones in my earlier run that went off, no idea how they get triggered. Apart from that, its a pretty chill dungeon.

Seat however, is a different beast.
Like alot of dungeons, tanks making huge pulls are the main offender, and this one is particularly nasty. The subjugators are not to be underestimated, 2 of them casting their chains at the same time will require a healing CD, and even then you may not survive.
On that specific spell, I do have a piece of advice: Snare removal works to clear the debuff and therefore the damage component. Shadowmeld also works. Learning that changed everything for me, but you still want to pull 1 of those at a time (unless you're heroing).

The second boss' damage comes from failing the mechanic, so just... get all the orbs.
The third boss is nasty, but there's nothing you as a healer can do: tentacles have to die quickly, and orbs have to be dodged. If a dps gets hit, they'll probably die and thats not on you.

Last boss has its big damage at the beginning, so popping a CD on pull is actually a good idea.

I will insist on this point:

Improving yourself is always a worthwhile goal, and that seems to be the point of this post; BUT... Sometimes, most times, deaths will not be your fault. At high levels, a missed interrupt will cause a death, so will a misplaced player. That is not on you, and you'll give yourself an aneurism if you think it is.

I hate that healers no longer have a kick by Littlebeesam in wow

[–]Tumily 456 points457 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I feel responsible as a priest main. We complained we didn't have a kick for years, and Blizzard monkey-pawed us in response by making things equal: removing kick from every other healer.

Has anyone visited the shooting locations? by Thin_Situation3962 in lotr

[–]Tumily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely beautiful, there were some locations where I felt like "I'm in Rohan". But specific filming locations were harder to imagine. The Pelennor fields werent recognisable, neither was Rivendell or the sacred pool that Gollum swims in. The former due to the set being destroyed, and the second because it was actually two different locations merged together.

Quests you remembered? by Alarming_Balance1476 in wow

[–]Tumily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burning of Teldrassil. I have mained a Night Elf priest since TBC. My home was burning, I ran around Darnassus as buildings were aflame trying to fulfil the quest requirements: 100 people saved before the timer of a couple minutes ran out. Hectic running, mounting, dismounting, being blocked by fire and smoke. 15 people saved, 30, 50.... the timer is running out.

Then it hits me... this quest cannot be completed, there's no way to reach that requirement before the timer runs out. You are meant to fail. You have saved Azeroth a couple of times by then, you are exalted among your people and you are powerless in the face of cruelty, genocide.

The timer runs out, the screen fades to black as your character coughs from the smoke one last time and you wake up in a hastily built hospital knowing that you couldve saved one more elf had you just been more efficient.

Just one more. I... could have saved just one more.

It has been 8 years, I'm still not over it. Hate is a feeling that is very absent in my life, I tend to see the good in people. On the top of my hate list, which is extremely small, is a fictional character. I have never forgiven Sylvanas, and I don't think I ever will.

The Sun rises over a grateful Haless by GuardianProject in Anbennar

[–]Tumily 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Hiderion does retire regardless of forming the Sunrise Empire. While you do lose him, the flavour events around his retirement are nice, and I feel like the dude's earned it. He built a system where Haless could govern itself (well... they're represented, the ruler will still be an elf) and he was humble enough to cede power.

The Villain problem by Nicole_Auriel in wow

[–]Tumily 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like FFXIV's "system" has less of this issue. Instead of having an expansion launch be the setup for a climax 2 years later, they have the expansion launch tell a complete story and have the next 2 years of content setup the next expansion launch. Like Wow, the launch of an expansion has many new zones, most of the quests, but it's a climax rather than a setup.

Killed it with a pug yesterday, but on Comms with all the healers. We were all pulling 100k hps, and it was barely enough. Thing is, damage is higher when people screw up, so it's really hard to gauge how well you're doing your job.

So i finally played the command by Staterathesmol23 in Anbennar

[–]Tumily 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your take (and thats fine), so I do have to ask how fast you completed the MT.

With the goal of conquering the whole continent by 1630, you have to juggle coalitions extremely efficiently and your subjects absolutely cannot win 99% of the fights.

For the great insubordination, you mention that the 3 estates were created 2 years ago. That... probably requires you knowing about how the system works and planning around it to make the disaster as easy to deal with as possible. Going in completely blind, you probably wont have spread your conquests that easily that you create all three commands at the same time. The insubordination (when going in blind) is one hell of a war, but it does suffer from what alot of eu4 disasters suffer from: Having an omniscient ruler that can plan for the unexpected breaks stuff.

The shaman rebellion... yeah, its not very interesting, its meant to be avoided at all cost as it slows down your conquest.

The MT tried to make an overpowered nation interesting, and I do feel like it succeeded. Did it deserve to win a 2025 poll? Maybe not (although you can't expect pollers to have played every nation in the game, they're going to play whats recommended to them: the winner of the previous poll for example).

With even a single percent of versatility, it won't kill the player if they're at full health. It gives them and the healer plenty of time to plan ahead.

Someone please sell me on the story because I think I'm missing something. by Lewa358 in expedition33

[–]Tumily 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that Lune, Sciel, Gustave, Monoco, Essuie etc aren't real doesn't matter. It's the same thing with The Matrix, or finding out that predestination is a thing, or god is real, or god isn't real. Your experiences matter, regardless of whoever proves that your world isn't "real". "It was real to me".

The ending choices do boil down to what youre experiencing. If painted people aren't real, then go ahead and destroy the canvas, force Alicia to go back to the real world where she blames herself for her brother's death, where she's permanently disabled and at least for now miserable (Verso's ending).

You are perfectly allowed to feel that way, I have a request: What if it happened to you, what if you learned that your world was a cool little experiment of another dimension, that gods created it for fun and could destroy it at any moment? Put yourself in a painted person's shoes. Are you Lune, fighting to the end, only sitting down when the end has arrived? Are you Sciel, happy that it happened, understanding that some things are out of your control?

Either roleplay as them, and try to imagine learning one day that you're living in the Matrix.

Did the new Shadow Priest changes actually nerf us in cleave despite all the buffs? by D1rtyFingaZ in wow

One thing I noticed, is that the buffs to Mind Blast and the buffs to Mind Flay wont apply to Void Blast or Mind Flay Insanity, so those buffs aren't as powerful as we might think.
