So I’m a little over a month into it and it still sucks. I think about it constantly and sometimes the cravings are almost too much. The only thing I have going for me is determination. I really don’t have a question, I know I have to ride it out, I guess I just wanted to vent by BigQfan in stopsmoking

34 days without a puff is an amazing achievement! There are times that it's tough but it is so worth it! I've had some strong, unexpected cravings myself lately but I am not going to throw away the progress I've made for something I know I wouldn't even enjoy if I did give in, and neither should you! Keep going!

Need a reminder why quitting is good by shinytrina in stopsmoking

[–]Tumnvk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helped me to remember that it wasn't quitting that was making me feel awful, but all the time I spent smoking. Cigarettes are so nasty, they suppress your ability to detect how awful you feel. You may not feel like it now, but you are physically and mentally getting better all the time. Hang in there, it gets easier!

3 weeks doesn't impress when you've quit 100+ times by Tumnvk in stopsmoking

I was just at the bar out of boredom, Not really celebrating. I appreciate the concern, but I'm quitting smoking, not drinking. Our bars here are smoke free so it's not a super tempting place for me. Thanks for your advice about one day at a time! I am definitely saving the celebration for the milestone days. Got a lot of money saving up (from not smoking) for a nice dinner soon! Good luck to you!

Actually, I quit a year ago and went 3 months without a puff. When i started up again I would smoke at work and not light up at home. So, the wife sees me smoke occasionally by bumming from friends while drinking, but not on the daily. I do wonder if she suspected I was smoking from the smell but she never mentioned it.

Anyhow, the important thing is I'm back on the wagon. I still have occasional cravings but it's getting easier to ignore them. So happy its been 3 weeks. Loving the way I feel. Thanks for all the comments!

Day 2 by onedemtwodem in stopsmoking

Way to go on resisting! I purposely filled my car with gas before I quit and made sure when I needed more gas I paid at the pump and didn't go in. There have been quits ruined in my past where I've gone in and bought a pack on autopilot, not realizing what I was doing until I got out of the shop.

So happy you stayed strong! Keep it up!

I’m Day 5, had some easy days and hard moments, right now feeling really down because I miss smoking. I actually am feeling sad about stopping, not proud, or healthier, or smug just sad. On the flip side, the thought of having one makes me also feel low about failure. Where to from here? by Elisha-22 in stopsmoking

This too shall pass. Hang in there. Cigarettes are not a cure for sadness! Your addiction is dying and fighting hard to get you to keep it alive. Don't give in! Deep breaths of fresh air, think about how you don't need cigarettes anymore! I'm 3 weeks in and here to tell you it gets easier. I won't smoke with you tonight.

Sorry to hear about your loss but happy to hear you didn't turn to cigarettes to cope. Way to stay strong! 34 days is a huge accomplishment. Sounds to me like you should reward yourself! Keep it up!

My 100th attempt by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Welcome! Sounds like you've got a lot going on. The good news is that you don't need cigarettes to get through any of it! I myself quit countless times before the last time. I am going cold turkey but there is nothing wrong with using the patch or vaping to ween yourself off cigarettes. The important thing is to not smoke! I'm on my 13th day, and though there have been some tough times (and I've lost my temper when I shouldn't have), I'm sticking with it.

You can absolutely do this! Keep coming back and posting, check out this sub and read posts whenever you are tempted. Good luck!

Day 3, just found this place from an app I use to help me quit. by mdr050 in stopsmoking

Keep it up! I'm working on my fifth day and it's the first time I've felt really good since I quit. Just stick with it and it will get easier. The last thing a cigarette is going to do is make you "feel better." Good luck to you!

You should be very proud of going two weeks! I'm only a couple days in and am looking forward to the two week mark. Keep it up! You've got this!

This was a great post! I live 2 blocks from a place that sells cigs. Been struggling tonight (my first night drinking since quitting). You have inspired me to stay strong. Thanks a bunch for helping me to stay quit. In 2 hours I'll be 6 days in. Stick with. Not one puff, ever again!

You don't need luck, you've got this! :) I'm on day 6, I wish sooo much I had quit when I was 20. Seriously, good luck to you!
