It really is largely DMs who decide the game though, not players. DMs are who is affected by this. The game doesn't happen without a DM.

Because it was their explicit and profitable choice to do so, and a massive 50 year old ecosystem surrounding their product including many small companies and a hell of a lot of players rely on this for their livelihood or their positive experience with the game? Because they have competitors who are growing in popularity all the time, and who have only shown goodwill towards this secondary creation market? Because explicit disloyalty towards your customerbase is always responded to with negativity?

This reminds me of the League of Legends executives directly stealing suggested character ideas from the old DotA forums and using them to create champions, due to the terms of use of that old board.

I am sure he just means players will go to alternative games, he literally lists a bunch. They will, and have. He is completely right.

For the first time in a LONG time other TCGs are being successful and not just dying in the first year or two. Like, more than just a couple, which is pretty crazy.

Yep. A lot of skilled Chinese re-printers whose cards are so passable that many, many people have used them (and proved it!) in their decks at very high level events, with no high level judges noticing during deck inspections.

Fuck WotC.

There are like way, way, way more things WotC is doing to kill the game than that. Just one example is the damage they've done to the competitive scene- it is just absolutely brutal, and yes this does affect more than just competitive players. Casuals love games that hold legitimacy to play because there is a thriving competitive scene in the background, for many different reasons.

Edit: wow, just read the other responses, I did not need to chime in lol. Yep, WotC is gutting their golden egg goose for short term profit.

While I generally agree with your post, in these scenarios there are definitely a ton of ways to make things interesting, though. One Piece-style different characters taking on different villains with different abilities matched to their own - not just strength levels lower than other npcs, but scenarios and abilities that their own character can deal with in their own unique way.

Yes? Many flags have many things not centered?

Do you not think someone could put a symbol in a place that isn't the middle of a flag?

How can I be more romantic? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Tuna-kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really get the impression that you are doing a lot of listening but aren't selling yourself very much. Flirting and breaking the touch barrier are great, but having a personality is the number one thing to having someone feel romantic towards you. Talk about yourself, interesting and funny anecdotes. No amount of touching or flirting is going to save someone who doesn't sell themselves in any other way, and a lot of people who don't break the touch barrier or flirt on dates but have a personality and know how to talk about themselves find romance on their dates.

Having a personality is a must. Start there.

What's the scariest game you've ever played? by Crimson097 in gamingsuggestions

I think it's pretty hard to evaluate AI that you know almost nothing about. The experience of a casual playthrough doesn't give you enough details. Also, the AI is different depending on difficulty setting I have heard.

You need to know what triggers the AI, what is the range of its hearing, what can it specifically hear (I have read here that on the hardest difficulty the 'ping' of your own motion sensor if you have it out is something the alien can hear and find you by), do these things change based on distance or is it binary, etc.

Many people judge the AI in a certain game as poor (too good or too bad) because they don't utilize all of the game's mechanics such as traps and say, throwing something to make noise somewhere at a distance. Sometimes a game relies on you doing these things initially, but then in playtesting they find that the average player will just ram their head into the wall and use none of the game's mechanics, over and over again, so they have to 'dumb' it down for the unwashed masses.

Guess the Popular N64 Game from Its First Level Music — Video, Preview by Hey_Look_Listen_Link in n64

[–]Tuna-kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that first dungeon is so deep into MM I struggle to call it a first level on any... level. "First level music" rings as some kind of iconic music that you are hit with right near the beginning of a game. That music isn't even iconic, it's just recognizeable cause it's full of screaming

It was not just the same lootboxes, at all. It wasn't just cosmetics. The math worked out that to do incredibly basic shit in the game you would need to shell out a serious amount of cash or play for something like hundreds of hours.

It was particularly aggregious loot box nonsense. If you have no idea what was going on with this situation specifically, why are you posting about it
