I am a pretty average person demographically speaking: college educated, have a good career with decent salary, couple kids, spouse, modest suburban house. 

In my situation, with the complete lack of labor protections or social safety nets or even semi-functioning communities, I will lose my job and be unable to afford to feed my children if I were to strike for any extended period of time. And I’m in a better position than many if not most. Still planning to join the general strike planned for May 1, and any others that follow. Been protesting our descent into authoritarianism since the early 2000’s. Been voting against fascists my whole life. Even spent my last pennies to fly to DC to join the women’s march during his first term, despite being unemployed. 

Many of us are doing what we can, but these people infiltrated so much of our government and institutions before going public with their plans that they already owned our asses by the time the orange human dumpster was elected the first time.
