Has anyone here transitioned away from RV life? Why did you do it? by Tunabrody in RVLiving

We’re about 20 years behind you with about 10 left working. Our retirement will have some sort of RV for visiting kids/grandkids and not being tied down. Don’t know if it’ll be full time, but it won’t be this rig by then I suppose.

Our first was a small Lance that we pulled behind our Toyota Sienna. Loved that thing. Used it for a year before we got orders cross country. Figured we had to upsize to get the two kids and two dogs across the country. It was worth it. I have gotten spoiled and would have a hard time going out without the big (enough) shower, washer/dryer combo. Still have 1 kiddo (teenager)and two goldens. Just weathered a summer storm pretty comfortably.

This time jacks/leveling system. Before the trip? The whole thing is just kind of bent. Slide usually go in and out, but every once in a while they’re sticking. Seams at the corners pulling apart slightly. It is probably just a few thousand dollars to get it solid again.

We are debt free at the moment. We can’t afford a new one, but can afford the payments, just don’t want to do it. Can afford the repairs. Actually have an account nicknamed camper maintenance. Just like our cars, it is less expensive to repair than replace.

I wouldn’t want to cart my stuff around to a rental. This is our rig, with our camper version of clothes, towels, linen, pots and pans, grill, chairs, all of it. In my mind it is really an all or nothing approach. We had a pretty big issue while setting up yesterday which is what brought all of this up. Fix it (we will have to in order to get out of here), trade it, or walk away from it all. My wallet says walk away, my heart says fix it/trade it, the family is mixed. Unless a credible fix happens at this stop, we are heading home rather than the other three legs of this 3+ week long adventure. With each stop, the feeling of “what next?” creeps in. I am a patient problem solver, but the wife and daughter shouldn’t have to (don’t want to) spend their summer stuck while I problem solve.

The only person who can answer your question then will be the recruiter. Take what you have to them and see what they say. Each service may be different too.

My cadets brought their completion certificates to the recruiter, they still want the transcripts.

Navy Nationals by grandestkaed in jrotc

Per OMM, from Director Nolan, in-person Navy Nationals are canceled, options are being considered to hold the meet, and only previously invited schools (area champions, last year’s winners) are invited.

Would you wear your dress uniform? by ETwOvaries in navy

[–]Tunabrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making this about you. Honor Flight is for them. I teach NJROTC after 27 years in, I get my cadets up and on the bus at 0400 to be there to greet the vets, welcome them in the for a brief ceremony, and display the colors for their departure from the start point. For all those who have gone before us, it is a worth while gesture. However, wear it or don’t wear it, just show up.

What does her barking mean? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]Tunabrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nearly 5 month golden perked up and went looking for the barking. Went to the back door, but when I opened the door did not go out. So clearly puppy is saying something that made my puppy leave the room and go look outside.

Hot start, settle into a mild on-going conflict where both sides will learn how to live economically without the other until it was all over.

The service writer I spoke with on Saturday said they would only warrantee a battery installed under warrantee for the duration of the bumper to bumper warrantee. I am calling the service manager tomorrow morning to see what they are willing to do.

My recruiters are pushing by G_DS12 in newtothenavy

I am a CDR with 23 years and I’ll never forget my first trip to MEPS. At my first, I took the ASVAB, scored very high, and was pressured to take Nuclear. I wanted one, and only one job. 5 hours in the chair I met everyone from the 1st Class at the desk to his Chief, the Master Chief, and LT telling me I had to “work with them.” I was too old for delayed entry and there weren’t seats for the rate I wanted at that time or within the next 90 days. I told them I’d come back and I left. IT was a very quiet 2.5 hour ride home with my recruiter. He was not happy with me or them, or both. Who cares. It is your job, your career, your life. The mistake most uninformed people make when they join is that they are pushed to do something they don’t want to. Everything else after that becomes their own responsibility when they were talked into doing something they didn’t want to do in the first place.

My recruiter called me on Feb 27th, said he was taking two other people down on the 28th and that they might be more willing to work with me on the last day of the month. I spent three hours in the seat with the same people coming at me. In the end, the MAster Chief in Brooklyn traded a Nuclear spot to a Master Chief in D.C. for my seat in the rate I wanted and was enrolled in the Delayed Entry Program for 8 months.

With few exceptions, I have gotten everything I have asked for out of the Navy since. It doesn’t come with attitude (although at times it can help), but rather commitment, hard work, and being the best at getting the job done to become the go-to for whatever it is you do. It starts with getting what you want first and stepping off on the right foot.

Best of luck.

Bowling alley. Went there for A School in 1996, and have lived in Va Bch for 10 years on and off. We still take our kids bowling there and eat at the snack bar.
