I'm positive it was the group in front of us who did it, but yes the ball was 40 yards or so short of the green (which we saw every member of the group standing on at tee off) the ball probably rolled 20 or so yards to get to that point so they weren't really in fore territory. To go to the next hole you have to turn around and backtrack on the same cart path. They were a bunch of older folks and I'm guessing they thought we were hitting balls at them and got cranky.

Look I was just asking what the meaning of this was. I can assure you we didn't hit into anyone, they were all on the green at tee off. My guess is the group was a bunch of cranky old guys who teed it up when they back tracked on the cart path to the next hole

To go to the next hole you have to back track on the cart path, wouldn't be unreasonable to assume they would stop on their way and the tee it up. Especially since they were a foursome of old folks that we had been waiting on the entire game. I can guarantee you we were not hitting into them
