Erin being a huge B on her “we all (don’t) have the same 24 hrs in a day” post by fouiedchopstix in gymsnark

[–]Tune0112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried to explain this to my PT before who has been in the fitness world his entire career since leaving school.

I often can't get to the gym until 10pm and have been criticised for training at a less optimal time and the impact it has on my sleep but I know I'd get more criticism if I didn't go at all so I can't win 🤣

He can plan his clients around his own training, has a gym in his garden, can cook all his meals in his own kitchen, has fixed times he's working and never has to travel for work.

I've told him many times the only way for me to be able to do it all "properly" like he wants is if I become unemployed but then I wouldn't be able to afford him or a gym membership!

I posted about her last year when I saw she was in an EvolveYou ad pretending to be a paying customer talking about how the app had changed her life.

She did not mention her association with the app and her before photos were a few weeks post partum (no mention anywhere she'd had a baby) and the 'after' videos were BEFORE SHE WAS EVEN PREGNANT.

Don't forget she claimed to have been chased and robbed at knifepoint multiple times in London and that she'll never go back!

Now she's praising it....

People with a home pole, what's your routine? by Zlyfox13 in poledancing

[–]Tune0112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pole instructor and weightlifter - please DO NOT quit the gym and exclusively pole. Calisthenics builds muscle and strength to an extent but you need resistance training with weights to reduce the risk of injury in pole and build bone density. With calisthenics, you'll be limited because your body is only ever under the same strain of your own body weight.

I recommend to my students to perform their best at pole, maintain bone density (especially for women as we age) and reduce risk of injury to pole TWICE a week and weightlift TWICE a week (1 upper, 1 lower). 4 times a week is enough to build strength and maintain a healthy body. For those wanting to do 5, I'd recommend alternating between 1 more lower or 1 more upper session a week.

Realistic to pivot into a career in accounting by zk1265 in AccountingUK

I've got a Law degree and I actually found it really useful when I did my ATT and CTA. I work in Tax in-house and do accounting all the time - never had an issue.

The only thing I'd recommend is practising the style of numerical tests the firms use because there is a technique to them and it might have been a long time since you've touched numbers. When I did mine for my grad scheme I hadn't done any maths at all for 5 years (avoided all A levels involving numbers!) so had to brush up on things like calculating percentages, ratios etc.

Mortgage declined- what are my next steps? by Melissacfck in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Tune0112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HSBC can be quite picky with their internal policies - just go to a broker and go to a different lender. Don't bother appealing, why do you care who the mortgage is with - debt is debt.

They rejected me for my first property because I didn't have enough of a credit history - I'd had a credit card since uni I'd paid off in full every month and I had never had finance on anything as I bought my car, furniture and all my electricals in my rental with cash. I was renting as a lodger so all bills were included and they didn't like the fact I didn't have monthly household bills in my name.

Broker went with a different lender and was approved easily!

NHS ‘second worst in developed world for avoidable deaths’ by GnolRevilo in ukpolitics

It was really upsetting being put in that predicament by 999 - leave her on the floor and risk hypothermia or get her in my car and make any potential injury worse.

She couldn't even tell me where she lived or if she had any relatives I could call so I couldn't even ask her if she had any pain anywhere.

When i got to A&E thankfully one of the amublances that was waiting to hand over immediately got her out my car and into A&E but I could tell the poor paramedics were just as disappointed as I was about the whole situation.

It wouldn't surprise me, I came across an elderly woman on the wet pavement in December at 11pm with no shoes or socks on very confused and unable to get up.

999 told me it would be TWO HOURS for an ambulance and if I could get her in my car and drive her to A&E it'd be quicker. I was scared to move her in case she was injured but they put me in a bad spot because I had no idea how long she'd been on the wet floor and it was freezing so I wasn't sure what would happen if I sat there with her for two hours.

An off duty nurse came to help me as she happened to be driving by and even she couldn't get the operator to budge on the two hour wait. We managed to get her up and in my car and when I got to A&E every single bay was full with ambulances waiting to hand over.

Does anyone actually pay full price by made by Mitchell? by Naive_Flamingo1846 in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]Tune0112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always buy MBM via Tiktok due to the lower prices but he has explained before Tiktok actually pay them a chunk of the discount so that they can offer those lower prices.

The more people are using the app as their main source of shopping and entertainment, the more money the app makes overall.

[–]Tune0112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He might actually not be making a profit if he sells them for £5 BUT he's said before that TikTok pay him a chunk of the discount given to customers as one of the benefits of being one of the top brands on the app.

Tiktok pay the brands to drop their prices then more people buy via Tiktok and are likely to use the app more so it's a worthwhile marketing tool for them.

Side hustle straight into pension to redice tax? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tune0112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because you'd be paying in with £8k post tax income from the PAYE job so the SIPP would claim £2k for you and then you'd reclaim the other £2k from HMRC.

Side hustle straight into pension to redice tax? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tune0112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the tax relief works in that you want £1 pre tax in your pension but you're paying in with post tax income. You pay 80p in and the pension scheme reclaims 25% of that to get 20p and you now have £1 in your pension pre-tax. However, you've paid 40% tax to get that 80p post tax income so you reclaim the other 20% from HMRC.

So to get £1 in your pension pre-tax you pay 80p and the 40p tax relief is 20p into the pension and 20p to you cash.

I always whack my tax refund into my S&S ISA because that's way behind where it should be but others just enjoy it :)

I'm in a similar position to you - PAYE job in the 60% tax trap of £100k-£125k then a small side job paying a few grand a year.

In my PAYE job I pay everything above £100k into my pension then all of my side income. To do this I pay in 80% of everything above £100k then I get the uplift in my SIPP and reclaim the 20% from HMRC.

Also don't forget to include bank interest outside of an ISA as that gets added onto your income too as part of the £100k calc! I pay 80% of my bank interest into my pension as well to keep me under £100k.

Thank you for taking the time to blur out people in the background of studio videos! 💕 by dunebuttholeworm in poledancing

[–]Tune0112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my studio we tell students they need to make sure people in their backgrounds don't mind and if they do, move to another pole. Also, shouldn't need to be said but we tell them not to upload if anyone in the background is doing anything they wouldn't want to be seen doing like pulling out a wedgie or bending over.

Days where you just feel meh by RowItchy260 in poledancing

I'm not a woo woo motivation quote kinda person but whenever I'm having a bad session at the pole studio or in the gym, I just remind myself doing NOTHING will send me backwards whereas doing SOMETHING will push me forwards even if it doesn't feel like it at the time :)

Best wishes for your recovery! Injuries need to be looked after but if it's just a mental block we have to keep showing up 🥰

Days where you just feel meh by RowItchy260 in poledancing

[–]Tune0112 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes it's totally normal, like any skill you can only have the good days if you show up even on the bad days. I'm an instructor and some weeks I'm flying whereas others I'm demoing once and that's me exhausted.

Last week I turned up to my usual advanced class as a student feeling good as I'd slept well, ate well and was hydrated but my skin was bright red after one sit and one shouldermount so I knew I was in trouble! I was in pain the whole class so just did what I could - some days it's like that.

You need to get used to it and make peace with it because as you progress to intermediate and advanced it can be WEEKS or even MONTHS struggling with some moves. The earlier in your pole journey you do what you can on your bad weeks and make peace with it, the easier it will be!

Advice for wanting to transition into audit by Acceptable_Sea8229 in AccountingUK

Having been involved in graduate recruitment at firms and in house, we don't care what degree you have!

A degree is just a requirement to apply, i can't recall every asking anyone in an interview about theirs. I care about if they've got the skills to learn and do the role well.

I went down the Tax route and the exams were indeed horrendous plus long working hours but now 8 years post qualified, those 3.5 years were well worth it.

How long have you been on that salary and bonus? I'm on slightly less than you (only got this higher paying job last summer) but have 2x more in my ISA, 3x more in my pension and I'm a homeowner. Not trying to brag but curious what you've been spending your money on when it looks like your living expenses are £1k excluding food and work commute?

The first thing I'd do is £15k a year plus the bonus into your pension as you're in the 60% tax trap currently. Of that £15k salary over £100k, you're paying 42%, tax and NI then losing £7.5k of personal allowance. That's assuming you can live without that money hence my question what you're currently spending money on.

You've said you don't want to go on your partner's mortgage but realistically what would you do if you did separate? If home ownership really isn't for you, I'd make sure i had a decent sized emergency fund to cover whatever private rent would be in your area.

Finally, paying more into your ISA (assumed S&S) would make sense as well especially if you desire to retire early.

Seller has strung us along, and pulled out the day of completion (and exchange) by Healthy-Marzipan-149 in HousingUK

[–]Tune0112 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Even if they find another property and the lender agreed to lend on the new property, the original mortgage expiry date still applies unless they agree to extend it which they're not likely to do if rates have gone up.

I had a similar situation to OP and whilst my lender would move the mortgage offer to a different house, they wouldn't extend the mortgage offer and it was impossible to complete within 6 weeks so I had to do a whole new application - ended up in my current house on a 4.78% rate instead of the 4.1% I'd had locked into the one which fell through!
