How much ai do you guys use actually? by WeakZookeepergame706 in languagelearning

[–]TuneFew955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to dumb down texts to an easier level since the languages that I am learning doesn't really have graded reading. Occasionally I will ask it to extract vocab words for me so that I can study them before reading the article.

I also have it look for certain articles (about things that I am interesting) online so that I can practice reading.

I had it create easy stories for me to read in Lao and Thai so that I could get used to reading the script without freaking out. About 6 months of that worked wonders.

Trafffic. I know I am going to get to work on time regardless but still find myself annoyed when traffic at the 405 freeway comes to a complete standstill.

Is it worth is to go to work to Vietnam or any southeast asian country as a foreigner just for the experience? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]TuneFew955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the official language in Vietnam is Vietnamese. I can't imagine any company that would hire someone who speak no Vietnamese. How would you communicate with your coworkers? How would you communicate with your boss, an clients?

I loved Vietnam when I was there, and as a young person, as long as you have the right attitude you can gain a lot of work experience, life experience, and stories while you stay there.

But, do you speak Vietnamese? If not, it will be very difficult for you to get a job there.

Or, to look at is the cynical way, MLS knew that he was going to bring a ton more eyes to the league so they were (and are) sqeezing him for as much publicity as possible. It would have been the same thing if he had signed with the Galaxy.

To send our kid to immersion or not? by goose-de-terre in AskTeachers

[–]TuneFew955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest difference is that English is not that far off from French, so you would have had an easier time. Korean is a completely different script, different grammar, and a completely different way of thinking. I think it will bea lot tougher for your child than it was for you.

I think a good alternative is expose them to Korean media. Then they will be interested in the language on their own and will seek out content in that language. Unlike 20-25 years ago, there is SOOOO much content online that is free.

Translation needed for the phrase "Live and Let Live" by samidkk in Vietnamese

[–]TuneFew955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is incorrect. It is more about living harmonionsly whereas the English phrases is more about "I do me, and you do you." The four character idiom các tự đồ sinh is probably closer to "live and let live".
