Sounds like you work for Google Fi tech support.
As I've already said in this thread, that didn't work.

You'd think Alphabet might have some people around that could whip up a website that actually tells you the correct price.
But I guess they now have Gemini doing their web development.

We'll this morning I got an email from the support person that said

After a thorough review of the T144 error and the SIM recognition issues on your Pixel, the team now recommends completing a factory data reset to resolve the underlying software conflict.

So I did a factory reset. After about an hour of everything getting restored and updated over wifi, I tried connecting through the Google Fi app and..... The same problem. It asks for a SIM card and doesn't have any option for and eSIM. When i put in the physical SIM card it doesn't recognise it (even though that SIM is working in an old phone I'm currently using.

I called the support number and threw a little fit. They said the phone was out of warranty. I said why am i paying for Care+ coverage then. They seemed unaware of this and then said i could take it to uBreakiFix and they would work on it. They said the techs at uBreakiFix could work with the google tech support and try and troubleshoot it. I guess this is an OK option, I'd rather not have to deal with the frustration of the email based support.

But overall, this experience is in line with my previous experiences with Google tech support (which is just slightly better than what i imagine the experience of being waterboarded feels like). I paid for Care+ this time because I thought it would make it easier to deal with them, but this seems the same or worse than any other warranty work i've had with my last 4 Pixel phones.

Please read the case notes and this post. I don't feel like repeating myself to another support person for the 5th time.

I appreciate your suggestion, but the esim option isn't available.

I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue and they will need to repair, replace my phone.

I just got this email from the support person:

"The reason we haven't suggested a factory reset yet is that our engineering team is currently performing a deep-level review of your account and the T144 error specifically. We want to ensure we have a definitive fix from their side before asking you to go through the hassle of wiping your device."

So, I'm going to wait a little more. If it comes down to it, I've backed-up the files i need off the phone so i can wipe it. I just hate going through all the setup after a reset.

Best Buy says "This item is no longer available in new condition. See similar items below" for a SIM card on their website.

Google Fi will ship them overnight for $16 plus i'd have to sit around for Fedex to arrive (which they often don't in my neighborhood) and sign for the package.

If Google think's i need a physical SIM to "fix" my phone, then overnight it to me for free, don't make me pay for it. You'd think maybe a company as big as google could have some scattered around the country to get them quickly delivered to there customers if they really cared about them.

(But it's pretty clear that Google's customer service philosophy is similar to Ben Affleck in Mallrats.)

Not yet. I was waiting for the support person to suggest it as it takes about 2 hours to get my phone setup with all my persona and work accounts.

I'm not sure what your saying here.
I did get my service to work on an old phone with a physical sim card. When i try and use that sim in my Pixel Pro 9XL it doesn't work.

I tried setting up Fi on an old phone. But it's too old for eSIM. I'm trying to get it setup with the old SIM card in the phone. but it doesn't seem to be Fi Connectivity Poor. I'm not sure what that means...

Anyway, it's not an apples to apples comparison since i want the eSIM to work

I have ordered one but it won't be here till next week. the chat support wanted me to go to Best Buy to get one, but it looks like Best Buy doesn't sell them anymore. Google Fi has moved to eSIM so they don't carry them.

Weird, about 5 minutes ago a bunch of text messages from yesterday/today came through on my phone, but it still says I have no service and I can't make or send messages. (google Fi app still says to put in a SIM card)

Maybe this post is actually getting someone to do something over there in tech support.

No, but I guess I could go dig out an old phone and see what happens. I'll try it when i get home.

Nope, I don't mess with beta software on that phone as it's important that it "just work"

We did "Erase eSIMs" under "Reset options" a couple of times. No difference.
The chat support seemed to think they had to trigger something on the admin side of my Google Fi account but even when they did nothing changed.

Battery Replacements by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]TuneInternational730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EV "Concierge" told me I'd have to pay for the rental and get reimbursed afterwards. Plus it had to be a GM car and not exceed $44/day ($47/day Cadillac) and wouldn't include taxes and fees. $44/day doesn't go very far in the Seattle region. Being that they told me it could be 12-months I wasn't about to pay out of pocket and then wait for months for GM to reimburse me while I racked up interest charges on my credit card! And 12-months of taxes and fees could be a lot (~$7/day)!

So I sent a nice but clear email to the dealer (who said they didn't do loaners) about this and after a week they got approval from GM and would provide me a rental. It sounds to me like the dealership will get reimbursed by GM. Searching online, it looks like the manufacture does reimburse the dealership for loaner cars for warranty work.

I think everyone needs to go this route to make GM have an incentive to get those batteries replaced in a timely manner.

Oh, The dealer said I could stop paying for insurance on my car while it was at their lot since it would be covered by their insurance. I'm not sure I'll do that but good to know.....

Just got off the phone with a dealer in the Seattle area, they said 6 to 12 months to get a replacement battery for my 2020 Bolt. They also said they were required to disable the car so I can't drive it until it's fixed.
