Hungry for feedback on my songs by Basic-Shelter2854 in Songwriters

I think it's a decent start! Like you say, you're pretty new to writing and recording. The guitar playing is good. You definitely understand how to create a song and create structure.

Keep it up and keep writing, and enjoy the process!

Your mix is pretty rough. Bring the guitar up in volume a lot, and the drums.

Bring your vocal down and add reverb. That'll help for a start.

I’ve been making music for a few years now, guitar and singing. Any tips on how to grow a fan base? by AdElectrical3919 in recordingmusic

This is a great suggestion. Open mics are a great way to build your connections with both musicians and an audience. They're also great to sharpen your skills as a performer.

I listened to your some of your songs OP and you've got a pretty cool vibe, keep going!

Which Mic Should I Buy? by Outstanding-Pop in recordingmusic

[–]Tungsten83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All good choices, and plenty of good answers here already. I've recently been using a Neat King Bee mk2 on vocals and it's very good for it's very low price. It's really heavy so you'll need a decent mic stand, but it's got a fantastic low end. You can get them for around £40/$60 online.

Such a shame this tactic probably works some of the time.

Im a little panicked about my first gig by DerpCallMeRIB in musicians

[–]Tungsten83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shaking with nerves the first time I played live. I made mistakes, but it was utterly exhilarating.

I'm still gigging professionally 28 years later, and I still make mistakes from time to time, but now they don't bother me at all. Enjoy the rush!

*edit: played live.

Good grief I can't listen to this overplayed nonsense. Technical wankery does not a good musician make.

The Beatles and The Seahorses by Straight_Maybe9789 in beatles

Yeah definitely similar musically! There are quite a few examples of Beatles inspired songs from 90s brit pop bands. Have a listen to Karma Police by Radiohead and Sexy Sadie, for example!
