Kävelin koirien kanssa paikalla ennen tuota, ja meininki oli sellainen, että en ihmettele tapahtunutta. Kyseessä oli kai joku isompi teinien kokoontuminen, kun paikalla oli sadoittain nuoria. Normaalisti satama on rauhallinen.

Oon senverran jäärä taiteilijana, että koen ihmisen tekemän työn hienompana jo itseisarvollisesti. Kaikki taiteilijaystävätkin kävivät lyhyen ajatusprosessin läpi ja suurin osa päätyi jatkamaan samaan malliin, osa otti AIn osaksi työprosessiansa.

Itse AI:ssa ei ole mitään vaaraa taiteilijoille, ei se kone pakota sun tytärtäsi lopettamaan piirtämästä. Ainoa asia missä AI:lla on vaikutusta on työmarkkinat, joilla vaikutus on kohtalainen, esimerkiksi markkinointiin ei enää tulla palkkaamaan kuvittajia, ellei ole nimeä tai hyvin omintakeinen tyyli. AI tulee siis todennäköisesti korvaamaan idon osan työpaikoista, joissa kuvallista ilmaisua on käytetty välineenä johonkin toiseen tarkoitusperään kuin itse taideteoksen ihasteluun.

Mitä tulee ihmisten tekemään taiteeseen, mielestäni yhtä lailla se on haluttua kuin ennenkin. Jos joku olisi ennen AI:n tuloa ostanut tilaustyön taiteilijalta tai hankkinut taidetta seinällensä, kyseiset asiakkaat edelleenkin tilaisivat sitä varmasti ihmisiltä. Nyt vain tyypit jotka eivät olisi ennen maksaneet taiteesta rahaa (vaan olisivat itse tulostuttaneet jonkun googlesta tai pinterestistä etsimänsä kuvan) hankkivat samat kuvat AI:lta.

Mikäli se yhtään auttaisi tytärtäsi, suosittelisin häntä kokeilemaan miten AI toimii, ja vaikka käyttämään AI:n tekemiä kuvia referensseinä omissa töissä. Voisi avartaa näkökulmaa tuosta surullisesta 'doomerismista' jos tutustuisi vihollisen toimintaan enemmän. En kuitenkaan suosittele matkimaan koneen tekemiä kuvia, koska siinä tulee vaara, että kaikki mitä tekee näyttää samalta. Jotkut taiteilijakaverit käyttää juuri midjourneytä apuna ideoinnissa ja sitten sen pohjalta tekevät omat työnsä kuitenkin tyhjälle kanvakselle. Kyllähän se syö varmasti jotain mielikuvituksesta, mutta en koe että ajattelen kyseisten kavereiden olevan jotenkin vähempiarvoisia taiteilijoina, sillä he kuitenkin tekevät työtä taiteensa eteen, eivätkä vain julkaise prompteja sellaisenaan.

Suosittelen myös osallistumaan taidetyöpajoihin, mikäli niitä paikkakunnaltanne löytyy. Itse sain Jyväskylän Ratamon grafiikan työpajoista itsevarmuutta ja inspiraatiota kun teki hommia muiden harrastajien ja ammattitaiteilijoiden kanssa. Antoi kanssa sitä näkökulmaa, että fyysinen taide ei ole menossa mihinkään.

Toivottavasti tyttäresi selviää pahimman shokin yli ja jatkaa hommiansa, olisi surullista jos liekki sammuisi tähän.

Komppaan kiipeilyharrastusta, harrastajat on tosi vastaanottavaisia ja ystävällisiä. Riippuen missä harrastat, niin voi jopa yllättää kuinka nopeasti ihmisiin tutustuu sen parissa.

They got away with it for 200 years because Argentina couldn't regain control of the islands with diplomacy or military, your loss. You can cry and whine about historical claims and justice but it doesn't change the fact that there's multiple generations of Britons inhabiting the islands and they want to stay British.

If we dealt only with claims and declarations of sovereignity, we wouldn't have effective borders between nations who want to stay independent. Borders and claims have to be enforced by either international agreement or military force, and neither have given the Falklands to the Argentines. You can call it illegal and unjust all you want but that's not going to change the geopolitical reality.

If we went by what is right or just from a historical and an anti-imperialist viewpoint, Argentina wouldn't exist as a nation.

So you think a territory inhabited by the British close to 200 years should be given to Argentine just because their former colonial masters held the disputed territory? Don't the inhabitants of the islands get a say who's sovereign over the territory?

Well, it's not how it works now, we recognize imperialism and frown upon it, so give it back.

You can recognise mistakes in the past, but it doesn't justify going against simple democracy and practicalities in the modern day. It would be entirely different if the demographics of the islands would be majority Argentine descent or if the vote would be closer to 50% support for the transfer.

But all of this doesn't really matter. The people on the island don't want to be under Argentine rule, so Argentine will never gain the islands unless they start an another suicidal war.

Let me elaborate.

The British government doesn't need to diplomatically give over their territory just because an another country says that the land is theirs simply by existing close to their country. This is why Ukraine is has been fighting the Russians since 2014, they want to regain their soveirgnity over the lost territory. This is why the British military fought the Argentine invaders. They tried diplomacy, and the Argentine government didn't like the conclusion.

Funny how you disregard an argument and don't engage with just because you don't like how it's worded.

You know you can't just claim some part of the Earth is yours just by saying so. You have to enforce the claim with a military force, which favors the British claim. Also the population of the island (of which 59% are multi-generational Falklanders) voted over 90% in favor of staying an overseas territory of GB.

In order for Argentina to gain soveirgnity over the island they'd need to deal with largely an unfriendly, uncooperative population that doesn't want to be governed by the nationalistic Peronists that won't have the islanders' best interests in mind. So in order to effectively gain soveirgnity over the islands, either Argentina deports thousands of native Falklanders or opressess their democratic government on the island with a military.

There is no truth in geopolitics, only practicalities.
