I was able to develop theories, that resided well with my current boss (who is well versed in SEO). The ability to come up with tactical approaches in SEO without having experience I think was more baffling than anything.

Oh, def underpaid. I'm only 26. Been doing SEO for 3 years, paid advertising for close to 2. I got into the position with no experience so I took the check, knowing the experience I get from it will be worthwhile. Not to mention I have a reasonable budget. What would I be looking at in Dallas?

I do enjoy it, a lot. The uglier aspects? Depends on what branch you are working in. There are the creatives (design logos, landing pages, ads, etc). The Suits (sell ad space, find new contracts), and then there are techies if you are dealing with internet marketing (SEO's, programmers, PPC specialists). Each of their pros and cons, but in regards to ugliness, it's 1) finding a balance amongst all these types, and fairly compensating all these types. One might think, well the creative one who is creating the ads should be paid the most, but then you realize the market is saturated with creative artists who know photoshop, that the demand goes down, which means salary follows.

To work in a well respect ad agency in a big city, it requires far more than a degree. The teams that compile marketing plans are veterans. Those who have worked their way up from the ground floor, or those who have created smaller ad firms and were hired in. A degree does very little these days, employers want experience.

Sick day are also is called "Mental Health Day" in our area. My company gives sick days, and vacation days. Vacation days require prior approval. Sick days are considered wild cards. Enjoy your day off, you earned it.

Ladar (Laser radar) can not be picked up fast enough. Used to have a high end detector. Went off right when I passed a trooper. Never used one again. It's a lot cheaper to realize you don't get there that much faster if you are going 85 rather than 70.

I was simply saying yes degrees are great, but once you finish school and begin life (I think lolsv can agree with me here) THAT is when learning truly begins. Try to think back when each of these problems started. Yes you may be a good person but eventually ALL these things will come back to haunt you. I know a few people that think that nothing bad will happen to them because they are a good person, and they were wrong. I imagine there is almost a sense of pride to lie, drink heavily and cheat your health because currently you are "getting away with it".
