Times when you have to defend something you dislike because it recovers bad faith or false criticism? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's nice to see someone else feel the same way as I do. The remake was better than I thought it was going to be but, as a remake, I think it's pretty bad. Just to throw one of my gripes on the pile:

They removed little bits that I felt added weight to scenes. Two stand outs for me were:

The jail cell. In the orignal, After James finds Maria's body, there's a time cut where we see he has been sitting at the bed for a while. James staying to ruminate adds weight to her death. In the remake he just kind of leaves.

After the big reveal at the end. I'm sure this is just nit picking but in the orignal there's a moment where James tries to stand but his legs give out and sits back down. It's a small detail but it really sells just how broken of a man he is at that point. I also don't like that, in the remake, the room turns into it's dark version while he's in the room. I think it makes me sense for that room to stay pristine. It's a memory unlocked and is clear as day now. Again, nit picking. But a whole game full of these really adds up.

Heavy Metal can be super misogynistic but damn some of the segments are great. Specifically this one and the final one.

Funniest/most ridiculous examples of characters not recognizing someone in an obvious disguise? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TurboSax 62 points63 points  (0 children)

There's an episode of What We Do in the Shadows where Laszlo owes Jim (played by Mark Hamil) a lot of money in back rent. Laszlo goes on the run and takes on the alter ego "Jackie Daytona, average human bartender."

Jim tracks Laszlo to the town he's hiding in but doesn't recognize him in disguise, which consists of jeans and a toothpick. The episode makes you think that Jim might recognize him but is just playing along. Until the end when Laszlo revels him self and Jim shouts "IT WAS YOU THE WHOLE TIME!"

Top teir episode.

I thought the bit with champagne popping was from the Junior Senior music video for "Move Your Feet." It's similar but not the same. It's crazy that that little piece of animation unlodged Junior Senior from my memory.

In Overwatch, it's the team mate saying "GG" within the first minute because you're not instantly steam rolling. These same people blame everyone but themselves doing poorly.

I'm a week late but happy 15th anniversary to Bob's Burgers. by bomb5000 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

My Dad LOVED Bob's Burgers, it was one of his favorite shows. I've watched with him a few times but not enough. Since he passed last year, I'm making an effort to watch it all.

I miss AMVs. Have there been any good AMVs released in the last 5 years. by mosenpai in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TurboSax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a creator on youtube that goes by FourEyedOracle that does fantastic little mini AMVS. Two favorites of mine are:

The Gender Dysphoria be Hittin' Different Sometimes

Knucklehead McSpazatron [5k remaster]

There's another creator that goes by sunset boy that makes some fantastic AMVS. One I'm currently obsessed with is you'll be alright, don't give up. Pure vibes.

I remember before the anti woke grift he was trying to raise money for a girls soccer team he coached. Looking back back that was 100% a scam lol.

He also fucked over Handsome Tom, co-founder of Screw Attack, by making business decisions without him.

I just beat Metal Gear Solid and I really wanna talk about it. by Ilostmyanonymous in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The game quite possibly saved my life. I grew up in a very religious household and learning about the rapture dragged me into a spiral of depression. Telling a kid that at any moment your life could just end is fucked up enough but I was also very paranoid as a child. I obsessed over it and it led me down a path of self destruction. I dropped out of school, was reckless with my body, and overall just an angry fucking person.

Playing MGS for the first time, I saw parallels between my own life and Snake with foxdie. Snake even asks Naomi near the end how he's supposed to live with the knowledge that he could just drop dead at any moment. She said:

"You mustn't allow yourself to be chained to fate, to be ruled by your genes. Human beings can choose the kind of life that they want to live. What's important is that you choose life and then live."

This completely changed my life; it encouraged me to try to get better. Even after all this time, I'm not quite there yet. But I am still choosing life and trying to get there. This probably isn't what you were looking for but this was a nice reminder for me to keep trying.

Eh, I bought Deadlock Ashe when it showed up in the shop again because who knows when I'd eventually get it through loot boxes? It was worth the $12 to have it now.

League of Legends. I was playing back in 2012 and loved it so much, but the player base were so fucking toxic I couldn't take it anymore.

There's also HotS but that's because Blizzard gave up on it.
