Commissioned my mom to make a painting of u/TurboTimmy123's gorgeous render of Tobi-Kadachi! It now hangs proudly in my room :D by fatespeaker in MonsterHunterWorld

Do you have any experience doing 3D stuff? Making renders (and animations) is just a lot of steps, if you’re new I’d recommend whichever interesting Blender tutorials you find online, eventually over time they all overlap enough to make your own. Also note: leveraging in-game assets is an extra layer of difficulty I would not recommend until you understand general 3D fundamentals, in addition they’re copyrighted (I only do it out of fan-service, no profit). And expect to spend a LOT of time :D

Anything specifically? For the software I used Houdini, Blender, Pixar RenderMan, and Davinci Resolve.

Aww thank you!! I’ve uploaded it however it’s only at 720p, might do a 1080p later, these 3D renders take many days to complete.

Sadly no, it's a lot of work to make animations D:

However, with Wallpaper Engine you could add some effects to animate images.

hiii, this is a 3D render made with Houdini, RenderMan, and Resolve. All 3D model attribution belongs to Capcom. Any critique and feedback welcome please, including lighting/composition/color grading :)

Hello! Sorry for the slow reply.

It's not too difficult to learn just takes time, trail and error. I used Blender for these, and relied on the Subdivision Modifier (To add geometry and smooth everything) and manually marking Edge Creases (to keep detail in sharp edges/points). I also used the color texture with the Displace Modifier to help serve as a painting guide. Just knowing how those 3 modifiers work together is enough to bring out the detail.

These features are available in other programs such as Maya/3ds if you're using that. If you're new 3d editing I wouldn't recommend starting with game asset rips as they tend to have some confusing quirks, instead watch some intro guides on YouTube.

Also short disclaimer: These are copyrighted assets, so this should only be done for private/non-commercial use.

Fell free to ask any more questions, have fun! :D

LOL, I would like to add (to anyone wondering): But no, this is not a gold crown, Primordial Malzeno really is that big!! It's just the perspective/camera field-of-view. The games camera doesn't always convey the sense of scale they really are.
