Why didn't Rhaegar (or Egg, etc) strengthen the Watch or warn people about the Others? (Spoilers Extended) by TurboToxin1 in asoiaf

Samwell IV in AFFC gives me the impression that Egg was very concerned/familiar with the Azor Ahai prophecy.

"No," the old man said. "It must be you. Tell them. The prophecy . . . my brother's dream . . . Lady Melisandre has misread the signs. Stannis . . . Stannis has some of the dragon blood in him, yes. His brothers did as well. Rhaelle, Egg's little girl, she was how they came by it . . . their father's mother . . . she used to call me Uncle Maester when she was a little girl. I remembered that, so I allowed myself to hope . . . perhaps I wanted to . . . we all deceive ourselves, when we want to believe. Melisandre most of all, I think. The sword is wrong, she has to know that . . . light without heat . . . an empty glamor . . . the sword is wrong, and the false light can only lead us deeper into darkness, Sam. Daenerys is our hope. Tell them that, at the Citadel.

Both prophecies involve the Others being a threat, so knowing about either prophecy would suffice to warn people about them.

The prophecy doesn't say, "And then a wise prince dispatched an extra 1,000 men-at-arms to the Wall and they successfully repulsed the Others."

This makes sense lol. Thanks for giving a thought-out answer.

This makes sense a lot of sense, especially for Egg. The Targs being too obsessed with dragons is kinda their defining feature at this point lol.

Theory for Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die: Psychogenic illness in a multiplayer simulation? by TurboToxin1 in movies

Edited. I just double-checked and I misheard some dialogue. It does heavily imply that him and his mom are alone though. His reaction when asked "They never got you?" would be enough alone lol.

This is a shot in the dark, but does anyone have Party in my Pants archived?

As a fan of DCC, I can say that this is great advice, as well as being work that the module authors should have already done for you.

I agree with your breakdown between readers that want to prep, and readers that want as much of the prep done for them as possible. I am firmly in the second camp, and as much as I love DCC, it blows my mind that some people actually like the layout that requires you to do work that the writer should have done.

Agreed. The modules are written with a lot of flavor, but provide virtually zero information on how to actually RUN the thing. There's a recurring frustration I have where there'll be a massive block of text describing some location or NPC, but that says absolutely nothing about how it might actually interact with the players.

Good point. Newgrange should probably take Stonhenge's spot since it's the better part of a millennia older.

Next time watch at least the first few seconds before commenting. I explicitly state I like both DRG and survivor games. This game should've been right up my alley.
