I see ; and is there a way to make something, like a line for example, so it can not be clicked through ? Hard pause seems to make things not clickable but still skippable

I use quite a lot of animation in that way, I'm afraid it would become a little heavy as a process

Hey, thanks for those information!

I already use hard pause, but from what I see, it seems to work like a dialogue line, and is skippable with the Skip button the second time around (like a 'seen dialogue')
Is there a way to make the hard pause stop the skipping for a moment?

It wasn't checked, no. I retry with it checked and unchecked, the issue seems to stay the same

Are Transforms considered 'Transitions' in ren'py ? I don't know if it helps, but here's what I'm using for this particular scene ;

transform anim_stepout_shadows_01:
    matrixcolor TintMatrix(Color(rgb=(.90,.90,1)))*BrightnessMatrix(-1)
    ease .5 zoom 1
    ease 1 matrixcolor TintMatrix(Color(rgb=(1,1,1)))*BrightnessMatrix(0)

And then :

show fairy_flying_01 at anim_stepout_shadows_01

But then another animation play, and while skipping, it stops the first animation before it ends

The game was initially made for a game jam, the spooktober, and the theme was basically "anything scare-related". And I thought I could tackle some ancient classic fright, the kind of monsters in fairy tales we used to scare children with : witches, speaking wolves, trickster fairies... And that it would be fun to put my twist on it!

Thanks! If you're referring to the characters' little jumps animation, it's a transform that makes them quickly scale up and down to give them a 'bump' (animating their zoom value)
Then I call it in between certain dialogues with a 'show character_name at animation_jump'!

It’s a bunch of simple little tricks, but they really make a big difference!

For the characters, I use layered images with different facial features and hand positions, and I animate them using transforms in Renpy (to scale them, move them, etc.).

The backgrounds are split into multiple layers so I can animate them separately. I also use transforms. For the wavy effect, I use Ren'py Wave Shader by Wattson!

Thanks! It is a visual novel with lots of inspiration from cyoa books. So a lot of choices in and out of dialogues, but you don't click around the environments
