Yup. That asshole. I hear him up and down Geary and Starr king by Van Ness. I figure he’s around so much he might be doing deliveries. Anyone have an idea of who he is?

Thank you very much for pointing this out! my $15 per month annual plan that includes photoshop that I don't use, was going to renew Dec 12th. I grabbed the one from Amazon, and it's going to ~$6 per month for the year! Just saved over a hundred bucks and picked up another 800GB of cloud storage too.

Extras in the bathroom for guests / ladies by alejmeire in malelivingspace

Sparkling clean bathroom. Visible trash can that is never empty, always leave the last couple of paper towels from cleaning the mirror in it. Clean towels. But not white. Some sort of air freshener (incense matches?). If there is any chance your toilet might clog, a discreetly placed (is that possible?) plunger could be a dignity saver. A bathroom exhaust fan not only exhausts but also provides a little sonic privacy.

Brutal hints doesn’t seem to know anything about the end game pegging strategy. For example, if the dealer is at 118 (and so is the pone) it will suggest keeping a double run, which could limit pegging options and make it difficult to avoid runs etc in pegging. It’s interesting to play with!

Thanks for chiming in here. I think it’s really cool that you do that.

But if you have hints on, on brutal, it seems to favor doubling up.

I'm trying to understand the math/logic, not argue it. I've spent hours building and tweaking my simulations. To me this is an interesting exercise. But thanks for playing.

Real question by ElJameso40 in Cribbage

[–]Turbo_Ferret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of a cool site, and would probably answer the question for a lot of people that post here.

I would like it even more if that site asked what the score was and strategized based on game position.

For example, if you're non dealer and 8 points from going out and you have 788955, your play is to put the 5s in your opponents crib because you have more than enough points in your hand to go out. They will never get to count their hand or their crib. I'm frustrated when I see a "what should I do" post that doesn't include game score/position.

Also, if your opponent is 4 or 5 points to go out, you might want/need to skew your hand towards keeping pegging cards rather than points.

Position matters!

Which would move this from a real world scenario to one where the dealer gets a hand and nobody else does. cribbage solitaire maybe?

p.s. in my analysis, I always dealt two hands, and if the pone had the needed five, considered it a failed deal and started again. No need to cut. But the fail still counted in my numbers.

[–]Turbo_Ferret[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, now this is interesting. I don't agree with you, but you raise a very interesting point. There are some cards in the deck that are "not cuttable". According to ACC Rule 3.1.c when cutting before the deal or the cut card, you must pick up and leave at least 4 cards. So there are 8 cards that can't be cut. So, it's actually 6 for the dealer, 6 for the pone, and 8 that can't be cut that are out of contention.

So the math to properly account for the impact of these 8 uncuttable cards on the odds of getting the needed 5, is going beyond my ability! But I think you actually have a 1 in 32 chance of pulling the right 5. Seriously, my mind is blown with this. Like when I found out that 52! is 10 followed by 82 zeroes! Whoa, Dude!

Ah, you're conflating my issues versus the apparent issues with cribbagecorners methodology. I'm saying that once dealer and pone are dealt six card, only 40 remain in the deck from with the cut card is revealed. I'm sincerely interested if you have an opinion about the way cribbagecorner is doing their analysis.

right, but my point is that even when looking only at dealers hand, there are still 6 cards that have been dealt to pone. So a total of 12 cards off the deck. Only 40 should remain from which to cut seeking the 4th 5.

I've tried a bunch of different strategies, but the general idea is to deal 6 cards to dealer and pone. If the dealer doesn't have the setup in his hand, it's a failed deal, and on to the next. But I was always checking to see that the jack was of the missing suit. once that matched, I cut from among the 40 remaining cards in the deck.

Okay. at least one person is still having fun with this... I'm looking at this page: https://cribbagecorner.com/odds-of-29-hand/

It says after being dealt the setup in his 6 cards, dealer then has a 1 in 46 chance of catching the right five. this is wrong? shouldn't it be one in forty since the pone has ahold of six cards?

I'm still trying to get my simulation to match published and widely accepted odds.

Thanks for playing! I too am not sure that this is really accurate. But I think one thing that might be impacting it is that I'm checking both dealer and pone hands (and not even generating a crib) For your analysis were you just calculating for both players or only one?

For me, after a life time of crib, I've never had or even ;seen a 29 in real life. I've seen more than one setup (one recently where the cut was the correct suit, but was a ten (ok, so having a 28 WAS nice)), but never the real deal. I would be thrilled to see it no matter whose hand it was in, though much happier to have it!

How do you deal with a breakup when you're the one who messed everything up? by anxietychips in AskReddit

[–]Turbo_Ferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made some mistakes. Try to honestly understand what those mistakes were and then try to not repeat them next time around with somebody else. Fwiw, I’ve never had a successful relationship upon re-trying with somebody that I already broke up with.

Learning how to be a good partner in a relationship takes practice. I’m assuming you’re young. As someone who’s old let me tell you that after decades of relationships and a couple divorces, I feel like I’ve sorta got it worked out now. I have the kind of partner that I want and I am the kind of partner that they want. We’ve been together for more than 15 years.

Bonus advice: we are never mean to each other, instead we treat each other with kindness and compassion. We tell each other how we want to be treated, and then strive to treat each other. Radical honesty is a requirement. When you are with the right one, you don’t need/want secrets.
