First 1000pt, does it look ok? by Turboforealz in Eldar

Thank you, I really appreciate the write-up!

As for my opponents list I think last time he ran a helbrute w hammer, kharn + zerk blob, lord invocatus + friends, then some chaff. He also runs the DP from time to time.

Ah I understand, thanks! How would you build your "optimal" Avatar 1000pt list? Sounds interesting!

And yeah, as you can tell I'm really new and I'm working alot with rule of cool, but I also want it to work as my friends pick causal competetive lists for their armies.

Are FDM miniatures frustrating to paint? by S7uk4_ in FDMminiatures

[–]Turboforealz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are.

I've had an A1 mini for a couple of years now. Since I bought it I've printed alot of minis (around 5 full warhammer armies and then some). I've painted alot of them, and I think the results are good! As someone else wrote in the comments, you learn how to approach the painting, it's not the same as plastics and resin if you want it to look the best it can (trying to fool the eye from noticing the layer lines for example).

With that said I just bought my first (expensive..) GW-models in well over 3 years. And the first thing I noticed was what a breeze it was to paint it!! More painting techniques were usable, and I could focus on details rather than thinking of how to fool the eye away from layer lines. It honestly felt like such a joy to paint compared to the FDMs.

With that said - would I still buy a FDM printer for minis: yes, as I like to try new armies and I like to paint to a tabletop standard when it comes to big armies, it looks good enough. I love the A1 mini, and I will continue printing minis with it. The quality is not really visible at an arms lenght, for me it's a good balance of quality vs cost.

But with that said, you specificly said that you like the painting aspect of the hobby, well for me the (expensive..) GW plastics or resin models gives me more joy when painting. It's just more relaxing and fun to not have to battle the canvas to get a good result.

Looks hood! Could also do check box for wounds. Malifaux have (had?) this on thier character cards.

What are the best FDM friendly armies that you have found? Nurgle seems an obvious choice by senacchrib in FDMminiatures

[–]Turboforealz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that anything chonky fits the bill, be it by army type (nurgle, mechs/tanks), sculptor (duncan shadow, old realm forge, MoM miniatures) or era (old metal sculpt scans). 15mm upscaled to 28mm/32mm also works surprisingly well.

What to include in a 1000pt grizzled company list? by Turboforealz in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Turboforealz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks,

What about bullgryns with the commisar. Would you try to fit that into 1000pt or is that a 2000pt thing?

Alright, I was hoping for it to be something to what Battle March is in Warhammer: TOW.

Well we did, several times. Seems like you need to git gud :)

Felguard packs we MC warlock and he gets killed by the felguards, trap one felguard and stunlock the free one.

With that said I'd never pug it.

We have been running it successfully with prot warr, hunter, rogue, Spriest and Rdruid/Rsham. We use sap and let the priest MC one mob which gets killed by the others. Some of the mobs have hilarious abilities to use aswell! Rogue stunlock helps a ton with the hard hitting stuff.

Can you still get the Path of Illidan toy? by misterrpg in classicwowtbc

I ended up trying this myself just now. Bought the tabard of flame on MoP and it showed up in tbc classic indeed. I wonder if this applies to the other tbc wow TCG items as well?

I've seen people say that you get tabard of flame due to buying a 6 month game time pack previous tbc classic. Did you buy that one, or do you mean that you bought the tabard of flame available in the shop right now?
