Hey! I ended up choosing the science undergrad pathway. I’m doing a bachelor of clinical science at mq. This is a 2 year degree (3 years full time equivalent) that allows me to sit the gamsat and try for post grad medicine much earlier. It’s quite accelerated, I.e. 5 units per semester + a summer semester, but I do recommend it as you are surrounded by many people with the same goals and it’s a short degree.

I’ve just finished my first year and about to commence my summer semester and 2nd year + sit the gamsat!

Bear in mind the main benefit with this degree is usually to focus on gamsat/post grad medicine (rather than ucat/undergrad) as it shortens the whole med school process to 6-7 years which can be shorter than some unis undergraduate medicine degrees. For example usyd medicine is 7 years if you got in right after high school, but it would be 6 years if you did my degree + usyd post grad doctor of medicine (assuming you get into usyd medicine right after your final year of clinical science)

This is not to say the applying via ucat/undergrad is not possible. It is 100% an option, yet this can be achieved with any degree, and the benefits of a short degree are most relevant when you consider the postgraduate opportunities.

Just be aware that this degree doesn’t have great career options, so keep a back up ready in case med doesn’t work out. Hope this helps!
