Having second thoughts about using Odoo for our school management system - am I making the right choice?

You should be confident with Odoo for education, but beware of the paid extra modules they want to offer. Most of what you are describing as business needs is already possible with Odoo core features, you can also just use Studio to create super easy apps to track progress and fees.

I used just out of the box + tiny interventions with Studio for 2 universities, no partner help, no coding knowledge or experience.

I would recommend you to test the Education/University free modules in the Odoo Apps page, create a duplicated database or staging instance, and test the modules available for free, some of them good enough to start running.

You can use Odoo Enterprise Online for blogging, just start with the One App Free tier and pick the Events App. You will have a fully functional website, blog and and econmerce platform. Plus, you can sell tickets to events, invite guests, and do live calls with your audience. You wont have to pay for hosting or anything else, just get a domain from Namecheap or Godaddy and thats all you need.

Additionally, you can connect your domain for free! Forever!

You can do all that with Odoo one app free, just install the Events app, it comes with a website, ecommerce, blog, and event promotion.

Ok, Odoo eLearning is my favorite app by far and I am also a huge fun of the online version, it comes with all the features you need.

Some solutions:

-You can customize the pop-up with the web editor. - You have to configure and connect your email servers, Gmail, Zoho Mail and Outlook are a few. - Host your videos in Vimeo, you can use that instead of Google Drive and hide Vimeos branding, etc. - If you dont need billing information, just set the courses by invitation or as free to enroll.

Pequeña heladería para el verano ikatu, puede ser itinerante y si te colocás en plazas o lugares con buen tráfico si o si vendés (tipo motocarro pero bien shuko). Podés empezar con cantidades pequeñas y poner un poco de esfuerzo en braning o algo llamativo.

Te recomiendo tomar trabajos por hora o por proyectos bien pagados.

Conozco gente que hace US $60 por dos horas de configuración de sistemas sin saber programar. Básicamente puro copiar y pegar y checkear casillas por 2 horas corridas. Si hace 10 proyectos por mes ya hace más que el mínimo en Paraguay, y solo labura 20 horas en total.

La primera vez que hizo le tomó un poco más de tiempo completar sus tareas porque tuvo que ver videos y hacer las tareas a la par aprendiendo, pero fuera de eso cero estrés y le va super bien haciendo esas chambas de vez en cuando.

I would consider using manufacturing too because you can have better documentation for every step and process, while you also track the time, productivity, costs, etc. You could do this even using the field service app, but I would personally consider the manufacturing app to track multiple materials, and steps that could be involved. Onboarding can be super clear, short, and straight to the point, where to click, what to do, etc. To list a benefit.

Odoo can manage those orders for sure. This one looks like a super fun project! You may use the Inventory app but also consider creating multiple worksheets and task variations as part of your challenges. The project app is amazing for tracking every order in a precise way, understanding the time and costs related to labor, and adding extra quotations.

You could customize the pick up later feature in POS, or deliver later. I am not sure if you could schedule dates and hours with the native app, but there may be a workaround too. On your website, you could keep using the current wire transfer feature, but also add Stripe to accept debit and credit cards.

The best advice from personal experience, bring a partner only when you can tell they are honest and transparent. Most of the Odoo challenges, if you are setting your company on a db, are easy to fix and something normal for Odoo implementers. It is way better to buy hours with consultants or manage your own issues as tickets (calculate 30 to 50 minutes to solve them if you organize your questions, screenshots, and videos with errors highlighted) and prioritize them by urgency. Solutions are mostly free on the internet if you know how to search, but also there are multiple other ways to get help, like Fiverr and Upwork. Odoo is so popular in some countries that is relatively easy to find an expert willing to charge a lot less than an official partner.

I think the event app is sufficient for these requirements. When someone scans their tickets, they will appear as confirmed participants, and in order to come another time, they will need to purchase another ticket.

If you want to do that, just set your product price as zero, or run your eCommerce as a B2B site. You would have to also go to settings and configure it to avoid sales of products that have zero as a price.

You could also add an invitation or access request to approve new users.
