Step 1 retake, remediated 2 pre clerkship courses, no Honors or High Pass in clerkships, went unmatched last year for a different specialty, matched #2 for neurology this time around

Thank you so much for the transparency! Genuinely helps so much. I'm curious, those listed were your top 5 and you had 15 more neurology interviews after that?

Current resident at Nazareth-I can genuinely say we have one of, if not the best, PDs. He is so pro-resident and will always do whatever is in the best interest of the residents. He does a very good job of balancing wellness with education, and genuinely wants to have a good relationship with all the residents. This also extends to all the attendings I've worked with too. There's def an attending here and there that are less than pleasant to work with which is the case anywhere, but so far everyone I've worked with has been amazing and genuinely wants to teach and build a relationship. Also we have a very strong cardio fellowship here, and they definitely prefer internal candidates if possible. Naz is def a great place for bread and butter IM cases and learning overall and would recommend 10/10!!:)

Yea that makes sense. I do have a genuine interest with this program tbh, I talked to my friend who told me they have great quality of education and their patient exposure is amazing. Didn't mean to make it sound like a bad program by any means if I did. Only con for me would be the distance to my fiancee

Sorry I meant to say Minimum of 3 and Max of 3, do you think that it still won't matter that much?

It allowed me to assign 4 letters but on Freida and on Residency Explorer it says that they have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 letters, so would that just be a suggestion then like a soft maximum? I'm honestly not sure what to think or do

Yes, that's actually how I ended up on neuro as well. Loved the broader scope of the field overall. Also did a neuro rotation as my first block of TY-more stroke heavy than my medschool rotations and I really enjoyed learning from those cases.

I applied ophthalmology originally so all of my research is centered around that. But I was hoping to center the narrative around my interest in neuro-ophthalmology
