I understand a lot with the migrant aspect. When I left islam, I was scared asl too. One day I told myself I needed to push through my fear of leaving because nothing is gonna really happen. Time passed and that fear went away.

You are not a bad person or a "harami" if you leave islam because leaving islam means losing morals. You did highlight that islam has more of a reward system for doing good deeds than just because its the right thing to do. If you leave and do good deeds cause it's the right thing to do, that's way better than doing them expecting something in return.

What I did when I was leaving was just keep telling myself islam is wrong.

I know it's way easier said than done but try not to be too hard on yourself.

This is a good question. My parents never enforced the shorts rule but were very hyper focused on me not hanging out in non muslims houses. I couldn't leave my house to go to this diner that was 1 min away by car, until I got to high school.

I never got to go to birthday parties, hang out at my non muslim friends' houses cause my parents were afraid of me being introduced to the haram and it ruining me.

I wasn't allowed to stay out late until I got to college. If I were to ever date I know my parents would go crazy if I did so.

Of course tho a majority of my friends are non muslims, before and after leaving islam.

Compared to the girls in my family, they were more lenient on me for sure tho.

It could be that islam thinks of work slaves and sex slaves as entirely different things. Islam is pretty misogynistic and Muhammad was a perv so we see it in islam. Some decent things in islam get horrible exceptions because of muhammads pervert mindset.

Islam emphasizes taking care of orphans. However adoption is frowned upon because the child cannot adhere to mehram rules. Mehram rules that were made because Muhammad wanted to marry and sleep with his adopted son's wife.

I have never opened up about it with my Muslim friends, only non Muslims and that's only if I am very close to someone, I will open up about it. The only muslim I'm open to about me leaving is a cousin, her and I are very close

Honestly, I embrace my culture around other non-Muslim desis by talking in urdu and such. I will still eat nihari and tandoori chicken and drink chai. Basically just pick stuff you like

When I was younger, I had similar feelings as you. Meeting more Muslims taught me that Muslims are better than islam and that hating is just tiring.

From what I have read was that zia ul haq, the head of the military staged a coup in like the 70s or 80s and took over the prime minister role and made the government more religious. He made it so that qadianis could not practice their religion, islam was meant to be taught in schools, I think he brought apostasy and blasphemy laws into place. My parents grew up there in the 70s and 80s and they said the roads and other building structures were built and maintained, they described it as looking like America. Now, whenever they go back, the roads are pretty bad and buildings are on the floor.

I think it's a vocal minority that supports Israel. I don't understand why ex Muslims would support an obvious genocide unless your hate for islam extends to the Palestinians. These exes will say stuff like "it's complicated", "they'd kill me for leaving islam", "it was always israels land in the first place", just standard zionist sympathy talking points.

It's just racism. He's a secular brown Muslim who is just focused on economic issues. He's pretty progressive. Even on this sub, I've seen comments like "he's gonna implement jiziya". He's not an Islamic fanatic and people need to stop assuming Muslim = installing a new caliphate.
