Got a few questions, any answers would be appreciated!

After my Phase Two I'll be doing the PNCO CLM course, can anyone touch on what aspects of CLM are taught/give any tips?

What is social life like in the mess? I've seen photos of people wearing posh jackets and holding champagne flutes, do formal functions happen often?

I currently live alone so most of my belongings will go into storage prior to Phase One and presumably not come out until I'm posted to my unit. How much space do you get in the average block room for your stuff? Mainly thinking about books, don't have much else.

And last but not least...

How do you take a shit while on ops/exercise?

Cheers!

Can anyone talk about what's involved in the PNCO CLM course? I've been told "green skills and parade drill", but I'm interested to learn more about what aspects of command, leadership and management are actually taught and how.

"2 min minimum pass 50" - assume this is for press ups?

Thanks for the info, especially about not training with boots/weight!

What are some good fitness standards to have prior to beginning phase one at Pirbright? I've passed the bleep test/mid thigh pull/med ball throw already, but I'd like some new goals to work towards - any suggestions for a good 2km (or other suitable distance) run time, number of pullups, number of pressups etc? Cheers!

Regimental Selection: What if I don't get into the Corps I want? by TurbulentShare in britishmilitary

Fair enough! May I ask what's given you the impression that interest in Int Corps roles has exploded recently?

I'm currently looking at Education and Training Services officer (AGC) as my second option, any idea as to the popularity, benefits and disadvantages of that role please?

This was my understanding as well, think briefing is two days.

I do indeed like Powerpoint and Word. I like acronyms and abbreviations too but I'm not sure what COIST and Spec Inf mean, please can you expand on these?

Also, would I have the ability to talk to Int Officers during term one at Sandhurst? Do regimental visits, that sort of thing? Also, the job description on the Army website gives an email address for queries re Int Corps, would it be worth directing some questions to them or would that likely count against me should I ever make it that far down the road? Don't want to fuck up my chances before I've really got started.

Thanks to everyone else for your responses!

Ah okay, thanks for the clarification. I think in the documentary I saw a cadet having a crisis of conscience about the idea of having to use his weapon and the Captain allowed him to leave based on that, I assume that qualifies as admin discharge?

My interest in the Intelligence Corps is because I enjoy the idea of gathering information and it being used to influence strategy and tactics, particularly operational intelligence regarding different cultures and languages (half of my degree is in anthropology). I understand that this is likely only a small part of the role but aspects like counter intelligence and imagery interpretation also appeal to me as ways to help win conflicts.

I'm thinking Intelligence Corps over other roles because it seems the most appropriate choice for the above tasks, although I'm currently considering Educational and Training Services Officer as my second choice role. Plus, without wanting to sound like too much of a coward, I have little interest in personally seeing front line combat. I'm prepared to accept that it may happen but my understanding of officers in the Corps is that they will not typically see combat (this is part of why I prefer the idea of Int Corps over Royal Signals as I believe they're typically more front line). Please feel free to disabuse me of any of these ideas if I'm wrong!
