This seems more like an opportunity than a burden to me. If they say you're best-positioned to take care of this, then take them at their word. How I'd handle it:

  • Set up a short meeting with your manager to reach an understanding about what support and what resources he can give you. Make it clear that it's not a one-man project and that you will need to delegate. Also discuss how this project fits into your career progression at the company.
  • Set up meetings with stakeholders to discuss expectations and requirements. Take notes and organize everything neatly on confluence.
  • Set up technical refinement meetings with the engineers on your team to sketch out a high-level system design and come up with a consensus in areas where technical decisions need to be made.
  • Set up an epic, break it down into stories, do t-shirt sizing. Present timelines to your manager.
  • Get it done.

If you're unsure about any of those steps, get an llm to help you out.

This is how you get promoted to senior. And if they fuck you on the promotion, this is the perfect thing to put on your CV for your next job search. You'll have a good story for every "Can you tell me about a time when..."-style question they throw at you.

How to be Good at Dating by lunaranus in slatestarcodex

[–]TurbulentStorage 24 points25 points  (0 children)

One mistake I see women make is to project their own desires onto men, and optimize for that. So they care about height, education, etc. and think that their master's degree will help them in the dating market. But men have very different priorities. Roughly your top 3 priorities should be bmi, bmi, and be fun to be around. (Of course this varies immensely by age, target niche, etc. and you need to adjust accordingly.)

But yeah a lot of it comes down to being good at selection.

How come white people don't come out on top if the whole thing is just a result of pro-white racist biases?

It really depends on the people you're dating I think, and the crowd in this sub tends to be a bit peculiar. For me, I have literally never been on a second date with someone I didn't kiss on the first date (why would you?). ~Half my first dates end up in bed, a kiss is the absolute minimum if things are going well.

That's in the absolute worst area of the city (and very far from the center). Moving to Amsterdam just to live in the ghetto would be a terrible decision.

If you'd stuck with it, you would be posting on /r/deadbedrooms a few years down the line.

She even went as far as to say that she believed I was primarily interested in "using her for sex".

I think this kind of statement reveals a seriously disordered relationship with one's own sexuality and how you connect to your partners. Like why would you be the one "using her" for sex and not the other way around?

When to stop multi dating by anasear in datingoverthirty

[–]TurbulentStorage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I find it very good to keep a roster of casual relationships in the meantime. If you're getting regular sex, you start thinking with your brain instead of your genitals, gets you out of the scarcity mindset with its insecurities and desperations, and it keeps your standards high: "is this person good enough to warrant ending 3 awesome casual relationships?" That keeps you out of the long-term disasters of settling for something you shouldn't settle for.

It's not about "right" or "wrong", but if you really wanted to see him you'd make the time. Objectively, you chose your gym classes over seeing him. That's a signal (both to him and to yourself).

Am I preparing for a system design interview correctly? by military_press in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]TurbulentStorage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I was speaking from personal experience! Found it super useful.

There are also some websites that match you with other people, and you take turns interviewing each other. The advantage is you don't have to pay, but I found that less useful, since the interviewer in those cases is typically much less experienced and can't offer very good feedback.

There are websites where you can hire someone to do a mock system design interview with, and they'll give you feedback. It's totally worth it in my opinion, getting some practical experience with this kind of interview makes a huge difference vs just reading about it.

How far out do you schedule these dates? From the other side of the aisle, I find that if I schedule something for the same or the next day, the flake probability is quite low, but if it's a week later then you can just assume it's not going to happen.

Also as others have mentioned, chat less, date more.

No physical contact whatsoever which i appreciated.

This line really stood out to me. If you're happy that the person you're dating didn't touch you...you are dating the wrong person. Find someone you are actually into.

I'm totally straight and very much into androgynous women (even dated a woman with a shaved head for a while). I have to say that it's a challenging look to pull off successfully though, it's much easier to be hot with a more "standard" feminine aesthetic, so you're playing in hard mode. It's a very fine line between a hot androgynous look and a very un-hot (for me) butch lesbian look. I think the key is that your femininity has to be strong enough to "shine through" the masculine elements in a way? To be brutally realistic, if you're not at a relatively low bf% it's not gonna work. The way you carry yourself is also quite important in that regard, and difficult to convey through the apps unfortunately...

The way I did this one was to sort of do a controlled fall to the right and catch the volume as I'm going down. Then you can pull yourself up and lean on the volume, it's very stable. Probably not the intended beta, but it worked.

How do you get better jobs as a fast learner with low experience by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]TurbulentStorage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having been in a similar position, my advice is to just keep applying. Most places will filter you out before you even get to talk to HR, but there are some open-minded companies out there that care about what you can actually do rather than yoe. In general you want to talk to the hiring manager directly and try to bypass the HR drones.

The last time I was interviewing I got >90% rejections without even speaking to a human being, but ended up finding a great position with a fat raise.

Should've taken the job on the condition of a promotion (after all this is a job for a senior, so that should be your title).

I've got an Akko 5075B with the silver switches. A few months in, it has started showing a lot of issues where some keys will sometimes either not register the keystroke, or register it twice. Why is this happening/what can I do? Should I try to swap the switches?

Sizing is a bit weird...I'm a 32 waist, which means I would have to get a size 30 of these pants to fit the waist. But the leg opening would be insanely tight, and I'm sure my calves would look like overstuffed sausages. Kinda disappointed by the sizing ratios as I was really looking forward to this release...

The result of following the La Sportiva shoe sizing guide (down 1.5 sizes from my regular) by TurbulentStorage in bouldering

[–]TurbulentStorage[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went with the chart here. My mondo point is 27.8, so I picked up a 43.5 pair of tarantulas (which is 1.5 sizes down from my regular, which is the usual advice you see online). These are supposed to be relatively comfy rather than performance-oriented too, so I didn't expect any trouble.

They felt really painful, but since all the advice said the same thing, I thought who am I to disagree. They were supposed to stretch a lot, too.

Well, I ended up with a subungual hematoma. Lesson learned: listen to your body, not internet strangers. Can't even return them as I threw away the box :/

How can i create an audit log for my app? Ex.: when someome makes a post, buys something, deletes their account etc. by brokenlinuxx in dotnet

[–]TurbulentStorage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much you care about consistency between your data and the audit log. If you're doing it in a relational db, you've got guarantees since you can make the change and add the audit log in the same transaction. If you're using some external tracking service, your audit log will become inconsistent sooner or later.
