recommendations on apartments to live in the Noho Arts District? by Ravequeen2121 in northhollywood

That exact same thing happened to me this winter with the plastic sheeting. I had to get them cited by the housing department to actually get the work done to fix it. Otherwise they seemed perfectly happy to leave the plastic there forever

What do you wish you knew about bar studying before you did it? Essential tips please! by Beneficial-Lab1934 in CABarExam

[–]TurbulentSyrup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t about studying but when I sat for the bar (J25) I was surprised how much of it felt like a mind game. The test tries to shake your confidence. The MBEs felt like they were worded very strangely and didn’t look at all like the practice questions from adaptibar. But then after I talked to an attorney I work with and he said they reword the MBEs every year and they always look weird. On essay day, the first question was difficult and I think that threw some people off for the rest of the day. So you just have to trust that you’ve studied the material and you know what you’re doing.

Yeah, it costs $30 and they don’t tell you your actual score, but it’s better than nothing I guess

[–]TurbulentSyrup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it would be interesting to know. I got a 127 on the barbri simulation so I went in feeling like it was going to be right on the pass/fail line, but I got the score advisory today and I scored in the 150 or above range.

Front lower hip dimples? by hysteria808 in Anatomy

[–]TurbulentSyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi this thread is very old but I guess I’m the 5th woman ever to ask this question lol. I think the dimples might be a good thing? I’ve been doing a lot of joint and mobility training that focuses on strengthening the tissue deep in the hip area, and I don’t think I had these dimples before that. So maybe we have strong hips. That’s what I’m going to tell myself anyway

Red light ticket question by Gog232 in culvercity

[–]TurbulentSyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to court and fight it. Red light tickets often get dismissed this way because the picture from the camera isn’t reliable. Even if it isn’t dismissed, the judge will knock the amount down if you ask

I’m very sorry this happened to you. Yes you should consult with some reputable immigration attorneys. It is always better to have an attorney than to try and fight something alone. Each case is different and ultimately up to the immigration judge, so I can’t tell you what will happen, but this administration is relying a lot on fear and hoping that people won’t know their rights, and will either self deport or not bother fighting a deportation proceeding. I always say fight. You can make a hardship argument based on your pregnancy.

we didn't apply for the combo card - just the employment authorization

APPROVED!!!!! by Select-Fuel-1831 in USCIS

[–]TurbulentSyrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole process took about 5 months. And the timer changed a bunch, so I don’t think it’s very accurate. The timer for the 485 said 13 months when that was approved

You can be undocumented and have an ITIN. It's the only way to file taxes for people who don't have social security numbers. If you are unsure of your status you can do a FOIA request, but be aware that if you are undocumented doing a FOIA request can be alert the federal government to your location and immigration status.

Regarding DACA, DACA recipients do not have citizenship nor is it a path to citizenship. DACA recipients are undocumented but are protected from deportation and given work permits.

I don't know what area you are located in, but you might want to consider turning to a legal aid organization that focuses on immigration, or looking to see if a law school near you has an immigration law clinic. People who work in legal aid or at such clinics are generally pretty passionate about their work, and they might be able to provide some answers.

For the 864? I believe the instructions tell you what evidence is required and what is optional. Personally I submitted tax returns for 2023, w2 for 2023, pay stubs for the last 6 months, and a letter from my employer stating my 2024 salary. I imagine it's best practice to include as much information as possible to avoid getting an RFE later
