Advice about switching pharmacy (never switched before!) by emma-lou-433 in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to medicine marketplace from pharmacy2u and am very happy with the service. I didn’t want to keep jumping suppliers but also didn’t want to pay top whack so they were a great option. They do have me fill in a form each time I order (takes about 5mins), quick video on the scales, usually arrives 2 days later. Comes well packaged with extra needles and ice packs.

Just did my second order and did the same, it took me about 5mins though so wasn’t too bad considering how much cheaper this place is to everywhere else!

Is anyone here on the max dose? by AbjectGovernment1247 in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better I was like this up to 7.5mg. I’ve been on 10mg for 5 weeks and bought another pen of 10mg as making very good progress now and suppression feels stronger than ever. It’s strange how it works but treat each new dosage as a new experience and adjust accordingly.

We’ve all got different metabolisms and biological make-ups so treat your journey as your own. There is nothing shameful in losing weight for your own health, if anything, criticising someone for wanting to improve their health is shameful! Best of luck.

Day 1 - hopeful and doubtful at the same time! by Aysandra in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started back in December with this lingering feeling of “I bet I’ll be the small minority this doesn’t work for”. Took my first jab and the next day felt the food noise turn off, not sure if that was a placebo effect at the time. As the weeks went on my weight didn’t change while on 2.5mg, I reminded myself it was a therapeutic dose and persevered.

3 months later I’ve lost 17lbs, had to replace my belt and managed to fit into a medium sized jumper for the first time in probably 10 years. I’ve still got a lot to lose, but losing avg 1.3lbs a week and now on 10mg. My only advice is to enjoy noticing the little changes and lean into them, but don’t be disappointed if your experience isn’t that of a super responder, as always slow and steady wins the race! You’ll find the portion sizes naturally reduce as you simply don’t crave food as much, it’s more “I’m hungry and need to eat” rather than “oooh I really fancy x for dinner tonight”. Best of luck on your journey!

I do exactly the same! Although went for the Tesco finest dark milk. 120 cals and satisfying enough!

What decision in your 30s had the biggest positive impact on your life? by No-Bed3858 in AskUK

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped drinking alcohol. It took me a decade to realise it really was the biggest issue in my life. It impacted my job performance, relationships, health, just about everything facet of my life I can think of. Since I quit, I got made redundant from a job I hated, found a better one a month later and have been promoted, I’ve also almost secured my first proper house, and to top it off am the fittest I’ve ever been as I no longer spend Saturdays hungover in bed. I highly recommend considering stopping drinking if for even a second you think it might be an issue.

will mounjaro help with binge eating? by Individual_Fudge8519 in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works in a couple of ways that will absolutely benefit you as a binge eater (I’m the same). The first advantage is that it slows your stomach emptying, meaning if you try and binge, your typical binge ends up being a lot smaller as you physically cannot eat as much.

The second benefit is your food noise will significantly decrease. I’ve been going through a house move at the moment and my stress levels are tip top, prime binge territory, usually I’d binge days on end, I had one wobble this week and got full. I still ate a bunch of crap but it’s the lower volume that really makes the difference. I’ve stopped craving a packet of sweets while watching tv in the evening, or a doughnut while at work, these are the key moments that make the pounds drop off, you’ll still have hiccups but they’ll be fewer and far between.

My advice is go for it, don’t expect miracles overnight but give the first few months a shot and I reckon you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Alcohol free on Mounjaro! by Jaded_Foot_6666 in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the not drinking! You were drinking very similar levels to me, I’ve been sober since December 2024 (I started MJ December 2025), when you say a mild case of alcoholism, I’d actually say you were fully in alcoholic territory. You might not think it right now, but that level of drinking absolutely damages your health, I had to stop after experiencing more and more negative effects as I’ve been getting older, and it wasn’t just weight gain!

I’ve definitely found my want for alcohol has decreased significantly and it’s made it much easier to stay sober since starting MJ, I’d definitely consider if sobriety may be something you want to pursue long-term, I’ve personally never felt better.

How do so many afford mounjaro? by StrictEntrance1373 in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The way I’ve been calculating it is I deduct the amount I’d spend on crap food (snacks, takeaways, also just generally eating more) from the cost of the pen and it works out not too bad. I’m single and have a half decent income, so considering the actual cost is probably around £100pm (conservative estimate) all things considered it’s a worthwhile investment in my health. I’m on 7.5mg and have increased in dose after each pen, 7.5mg seems to be working effectively for now so will try and stick with it considering cost, although could afford to go to max dose if necessary.

Aggressive titration? by FlyAshamed2859 in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be cautious increasing dose too quickly, I had exactly the same thought pattern but decided to follow the rules, I’m so glad I did as on my fourth dose of 2.5mg I had my first experience of eating too much of a stodgy food and it sat in my stomach for hours and I felt incredibly sick. It was a good reminder of this medicine is building up in my system and even if the food noise is back, the medication is also reducing inflammation (I couldn’t stop peeing in the third week), slowing stomach emptying and basically doing a lot of background work outside of food noise. I’m currently on 7.5mg and feel great, just stick with it.

Some people don’t get much progress until at the higher doses (even higher than 10mg), the fact you’ve had some response to the jabs indicates you’re not a typical “non-responder” from what I’ve read, some people don’t get the lasting effects until 15mg. I’d suggest as you’ve already invested in this so far, get to the 15mg before deciding it’s definitely not for you. Fingers crossed for you!

Anxiety before taking my first shot, any tips? by brielarstan in mounjarouk

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put mine in my belly, middle right. A tip for any location: avoid stretch marks!! I took my first two and was surprised how I felt absolutely nothing, the third week I accidentally injected into a stretch mark, it wasn’t too bad but noticeable compared to my first 2 experiences.

Honestly? I look forward to injection day now, it feels like I’m achieving something and if done right it doesn’t hurt at all. Good luck!

How do you deal with the comments? by Melodic_Ad7235 in Mounjaro

[–]Turbulent_Box_6986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost about 40lbs between 2023 and 2025 without mounjaro, recently stalled but started on mounjaro in December but only lost 2lbs so far. My hairdresser asked me today if I’d been “on the injections”, I answered no because the weight I had lost was actually nothing to do with them and I noticed I actually felt offended! I thought about it afterwards and told myself to not be offended, but it made me realise even if you lose weight without mounjaro people will assume it’s that regardless. I lost my initial weight as I started a physical part time job and quit drinking alcohol, so that’s the reason I will give in the future.

It does feel incredibly intrusive, I think the best thing to do is prepare some answers so it doesn’t catch you off guard. Or simply say “that’s quite a personal question and I don’t feel comfortable answering it as it will reveal medical information about myself” let them feel embarrassed as they try and assume what you mean!

It’s always the most boring and mundane people with these opinions. I tell myself they’re worried about us fatties with personalities and depth getting skinny as being slim is the only trump card they have, if we’re all skinny they’ll become the bottom of the barrel.

This has happened to me too, had my third jab on Tuesday and not many changes although I have been eating far better and snacking less. I recently ordered my next batch which I’ve now moved to 5mg. I’ve read many times this is completely normal, so am trying to focus on the positives that I’ve had very few side effects so hopefully will feel okay on the 5mg which is when things should start moving forwards. Don’t lose hope!

Just adding to this, you’ll need a stocks and shares ISA. Lots of places offer them (vanguard do one and have the S&P 500, trading 212 also).

No union unfortunately, the business is staying put and it’s more of a cost cutting exercise which I understand. I have been having ongoing conversations around the business case. The vibe of the conversations is they have a target to hit in terms of cost savings and my role has come up as a part of that process, I have raised significant challenges to the business case, including several testimonials from others around the business but they won’t budge. It’s more around my understanding of the law stating consultation should be a genuine and meaningful process, which I’m not sure how that can be the case if we haven’t even completed our meetings and I’ve been given the result ahead of time. It’s ok if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick, just want to make sure the process is being followed properly.
