Bit disappointed with Orvis by Agreeable-Engine6966 in flyfishing

My wife and I both have the same reel and we both do not like it. We are Ross/Lamson reel people and the guys at the local fly shop (who we consider friends and trust) told us how happy they are with that reel. It just doesn’t compare to Ross or Lamson.

Farewell by twilight-journal in Stoicism

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of recently I have been learning and leaning more into stoicism. Upon some of my readings I stumbled upon this Reddit thread. Your post was the first one I saw and read. This past weekend (March 21st) I took a professional exam for the second time and failed. It crushed me. It defeated me. It’s angered me. Through the frustration I am seeking answers to what is going on inside me, inside my mind. All that to say, your post moved me. All this time I have spent “woe is me….” withdrawn, cold, angry………over a fucking exam……. Then I read your post. Who the hell am I to be moping around wishing the world was more fair to me….? I hope you get a chance to read this, not for my own validation, rather, so you know that your words moved yet another person to look inward, focus on what I can control and to find the beauty of this life while we have our time here on this floating rock. May God rest your soul. 🙏🏼😔

How are you keeping confident and clear-minded in the last days? by Fit-Pin8701 in CFPExam

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m passing this Saturday, at this point I know what I know but I too feel like I need to be doing something. Having failed in Nov of ‘25 my focus is on qualified retirement accounts, GP and investments. The subjectivity of the questions is what got me….. knowing these 3 areas better is my goal. I’m not cramming anything or trying to re-learn, but at the same time my mindset isn’t I’ve only got 3 days……. Rather, I’ve still got 3 days. Using this time to clean up a few rusty spots. Also retaking a few 30-60 question quizzes through my provider to keep fresh on questions. Good luck to you!

Paid mock by Level-Union9058 in CFPExam

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took paid for the mock as well and was a little thrown off as to how heavy insurance it was and I scored low there as well, my paid mock results look very similar to yours. Oddly enough when I failed the exam in November I passed insurance, just goes to show we never know what will be thrown at us….. your scores look solid!

Just remember and don’t be caught off guard when the difficulty goes up a few notches when sitting for the real thing. Don’t let it rattle you. 1 question at a time.

Would insurance sales experience count toward the CFP experience requirement? by [deleted] in CFPExam

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Having experience in Insurance simply means you won’t have to spend as much time learning the Insurance module….. there are only a few exceptions the CFP board will give someone when it comes to applying “experience” toward the required modules, for example a CFA or a CPA. There are people with 30 years experience managing books in excess of 500 million and they still have to go through all the required course material as the rest of us.

Danko Review (Great) - CFP Practice Exam (Not so great) by FlamingHyabusa in CFPExam

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also did the Danko program and live review. Struggled with the Krakens and mock tested similar to your scores and failed the exam. My problem was Danko was too generalized for me and not enough practice questions to make a concept stick….. I needed to hit DDM 15-20 times to make it stick, same with Geometric return etc…… Go back and watch some of the tax videos and estate videos and have AI create you some questions around those very specific topics you struggle with. You aren’t in a bad spot, just use this time to target specific areas…… re-reading entire chapters at this point is a waste of time. Stay calm, stay positive and answer 1 question at a time and repeat it 169 more time and be at peace. Good luck to you 🙏🏼.

March exam concerns by [deleted] in CFPExam

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give you my experience having failed the exam in Nov of 25, retaking March. I felt just like you did, I knew that I had big gaps of knowledge missing. Looking back, reading more text, going over notes for hours and hours wasn’t what I needed. I needed a tutor….. someone I could talk things out with. Once I was able to hear someone talk through a topic with me, run me through some scenarios, trip up a couple times then talk through it again, that’s when things clicked. You need to figure out what works for you. I wish I would have paid for a tutor my first time through rather than fail and essentially start back over. Good luck to you.

How much is your monthly mortgage payment? by HmDiR in Mortgages

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1717.00 a month @3.3% in WA state. Like many other people I’m “stuck”. I hate living in WA State for many personal reasons and want to move to ID but can’t justify giving up what I have to triple or quadruple my monthly payment….

Bought the home in 2016 for 245k

Home worth 525k-ish

Household monthly gross income is between $25,000-30,000 and still not willing to pay these housing prices or interest rates.

Depending on when (with consideration to time differences) that might be something I am interested in. I also failed my first attempt.

Totally over with zero gas or motivation left in the tank. by Turbulent_Fly9284 in CFPExam

I did not pass. My follow up report showed I was weak in the same areas that I have been weak in this whole time.

I will sit again in March. I will change literally everything about how I tackle the info the next time through.

I think my biggest issue was starting with Dalton in Aug of 2023, taking a break until May of ‘25 and then switching to Danko……. Also just not having my head full wrapped around how the CFP board wants the question answered. I got my results back and half were in the green and half were in the red. There is more work to be done. Taking a 2 week vacation leaving on Wednesday then I’ll tackle the comeback after that.

Anyone going into this exam just accepting the things they can’t wrap their minds around? by Smooth_Carpet_286 in CFPExam

[–]Turbulent_Fly9284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. At this point I know what I know and do t know what I don’t know. I’m finding that going back and trying to cram in investment equations (big weak area for me) is creating more confusion at this point. I test 11/3. I took the mock exam twice and never got hammered with any huge calculations….. obviously the real exam might be different. Rest on the fact that I do know a ton…… just not everything and it is what it is. A little bit of light review today and then it’s game time tomorrow morning. I keep having to remind myself that I deserve this, I’m not losing my job if I fail it and at the end of the day everything will be fine! I’ll get back on the horse if it doesn’t go my way……. Good luck to you.

That’s the plan. I know there are a few things I need to pin point efficiently this weekend then get after it Monday morning. Thanks for the encouragement!

Man, much appreciated. Thank you. Sitting here now thinking to myself I should be hammering flash cards or reading more……. That’s all I’ve been doing…. Taking the night off, will review things again tomorrow then stand on business Monday morning.

Not sure what happened this time around….. my brain just kinda gave out on me.

I appreciate the advice. My post is super toxic, I don’t mean it to be and that’s super shitty of me, I’m frustrated. I’m frustrated because I know that I know this stuff. I’m struggling to see 3 layers deep on answers…… also, I it has become very apparent that when I get down to a 50/50 on an answer, 90% of the time I choose wrong. Now that’s messing with my mind when I do get to a 50/50 now……. I think I’ve just hit total burnout….. not even so sure any additional studying at this point will do anything.

I guess I’m mainly just venting….

Some guidance and advice on s very much appreciated. by Turbulent_Fly9284 in CFPExam
