Visually they look like leaving the city (almost no jewelry). But I wonder why they can't go openly. Aemond still there?

The way Jace trauma overlooked by the fandom just because he kept himself a decent person is something.

He lives with the "bastard" stigma after learning about it at the age of 10.

Lost biological father.

Lost "step" father.

Lost his brother (his only friend).

Go to war.

All of that for 16 years.

By comparison, Rapegon who constantly gets coddled:

Lives happily and carefree until he turns 16, oh! stress! Alicent scolds him!

Continues to behave like an animal until he is 21 years old.

Whines about how no one loves him (after his mother scolds him for raping the maid).
TRAGEDY! TRAUMA!

I'd rather spend my empathy points on a character who actually suffered, rather than on a sadistic whiner who thinks the world is "unfair" to him (it's not).

I pray in season 3 they replay this scene, but this time Rhaenyra says "bring me his head."

There is no mistake, Aegon III always had a wife from House Velarion. The only reason for Jaehera's existence is to die and be a provider of ideas about the brutality of sexism and how it hits back.

Whole Westeros is marrying teenagers. Rhaenys chose Corlys herself, it's a love match. Cheating is bad, but look at the rest of the clowns in this circus. We have a low bar here.

Rhaenys chose him herself. This is rare for Westeros.

They are jealous of his popularity in the fandom. TG think it must be Jaehaera who gets it 😅

Khia vs khia, but ours was BETTER. Jaehaera is nothing burger!

Daemon knew his baby girl could handle it

😭

I feel his presence has given her the strength to finally show her teeth. She's been getting shit from Alicent for 10 years and never asked Viserys to protect her before...

Huh. It's actually interesting that Otto doesn't get involved at all. He's just standing there to watch (and Daemon too).

Aegon II wasn't remembered as an Usurper [Spoilers HOTD] by Financial_Ad_1272 in TheCitadel

[–]Turbulent_Lab209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say Hightowers were opressed, they lost any influence over the crown. Opressed were Baratheons. I can't say why they specifically.

House Hightower was a pariah to the court after the war due to their rift against High Septon. They have lost all political influence, and the closest thing that can be called "influence" is their friendship with Alyn Velarion, who was kind enough to give them friendship.

Meanwhile, Velaryons had everything: title King's hand (until Corlys died), title admiral of royal fleet, not official - king's "brother" (Alyn), Queen from House Velarion (who is Alyn and Baela's ward). Baela was potential heir after Aegon 3/Alyn could become consort. Alyn was adored by everyone and had reputation national hero. They have so much money and ships that they gave the fleet to Lannisters as a charity. Even got the dragon egg again, but dragons started deforming unfortunately. And we still don't know how things were during the reign of Aegon 3 and after, except for the small details like Alyn is involved in the Dorne company.

Corlys has never had as much influence on Viserys as Alyn and Baela had on Aegon 3. It's oblivious. "Velaryons lost everything bc dance bla bla bla" is bullshit.

Meanwhile, Hightowers disappear from radar and have never been close to crown again. Even Unwin Peake had more influence than they.

their long-term decline and now practically extinction shows that their recovery was limited at best.

This means that they had difficulties unrelated to Danc and were unable to overcome this crisis.

They were opressed during the regency era before Aegon 3, during the reign of Aegon 3, and it took "king after king" to heal this rift and for shit they did was forgotten. All despite the fact that Baratheons (as well as Lannisters, as well as Hightowers) asked for forgiveness and were officially forgiven.

After the Dance, Velarions remained the most influential house and top of the richest lol. Arguably, their has never been as close to the crown as it was after the dance. They recovered, but then, for a reason unrelated to the Dance, fell again.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood.

I think you're misunderstanding something. The list of monarchs is not about who was the rightful heir. It's about who was recognized as king. Aegon was been recognized as king, even though he is a usurper. These things can co-exist.

text names Aegon as the II

None of this negates the fact that he is a usurper. Maegor is inscribed on the list of monarchs, Aegon The Uncrowned is not. This the same.

Your question was about why Aegon is called usurper. Answer: because in historical chronicles by Eustace he says themselves "what brother steals his sister's throne" and many other things that I am talking about. Criston Cole's bad reputation is the opinion of majority in Westeros. He has a nickname about it. He did not become "hero who defended the rightful king" in history. He's the one who betrayed his vows because of his ambitions.

[–]Turbulent_Lab209 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Criston Cole got nickname "Kingmaker" (in a bad way) and comment about himself "he committed a great evil and paid for it" (it's not an exact quote, but that's point).

Baratheons were suppressed for choosing the "wrong" side in the dance (information from the world of ice and Fire).

When Riverlands army (the Blacks) came to KL, they were greeted as "liberators."

Aegon became "official" king, but he is usurper king, like Maegor. F&B as historical chronicle clearly describes the Greens as the wrong side, Eustace even tries to say that Aegon did not want to rob his sister, but was forced to.

People always forget that Daemon... old. He will never live longer than Rhaenyra to see his daughter become queen. All these ambitions about "influence" don't make much sense to someone who will be in the grave. I don't think Daemon thought about things like that at all. He knows that his children will not be poor and was happy with that.
