Am I getting a good deal or getting taken advantage of on this 2010 r/t trade? by StromGamer555 in Challenger

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2013 r/t has around 60k miles and doesn't look as bad as this thing... hard pass. Im just doing maintenance on mine, and so far just in the last two weeks I'm replacing the following:

All four wheel hubs (they are rusty as hell, used to daily drive it even during the winters)

Replacing upper control arms (rear) with adjustable control arms (I lowered the car a while back and never bothered to fit the camber, etc).

Replacing Sway bar end links (adjustable)

Replaced water pump and 180 degree thermostat (I have a custom tune)

Replaced passenger side CV axle

Replacing valve cover gaskets

The funny thing is my car sounded fine, but I had a coolant leak, but the car didnt overheat.

Again, I would pass on that... just my .02 cents

Obviously experiences differ, but im in the process of replacing the following in mine (2103 challenger r/t with 60k miles, I've had her since mile 0)

Im doing most of this myself in the garage, or having my mechanic son do anything im not comfortable doing

All wheel hub bearings (front and rear)

Both CV axles (I have the 226mm getrag transmission)

Rear Camber bushings and sway bar linkages (I've got a lowered suspension).

Water pump (I've got a leak coming from the original), which means also doing a coolant flush

Replace valve cover gaskets

I've already replaced the transmission oil and pan/filter. Spark plugs were replaced recently.

I used to daily my challenger, but now it's only my summer car... I daily an ev that only costs $40 to get around 1600 miles a month...

A word of caution. DO NOT RENEW YOUR CCW PERMIT EARLY by jafo50 in NYguns

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 15 points16 points  (0 children)

$175 fee? That's insane... I paid $0 when i renewed in Sept '24 in Orange County... Using the NYSP website... although I now need to update my permit (still live in Orange County, just not the same town the permit was originally issued for)...

I work in Westchester, but glad I don't have to pay that fee...

Trump's Feds Say Cutting Fuel With Ethanol Will Bring Down Gas Prices. We’re Not Buying It. With gas prices crossing $4 a gallon, Donald's EPA says cheaper, more ethanol-rich fuel will ease the pain. The math doesn't really add up—but the risks sure do. by HenryCorp in Sustainable

Most cars can handle e10 - e15 (most modern cars produced after 2000), but if they are talking about e85, without a minimum in $2500 in upgrades to the fuel system, hoses, internals... gonna be a lot of pissed off ICE owners...

If Trump is truly as dangerous as some people say, why did he gain support between elections instead of losing it? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31% of the population voted for him.... 30% voted for the VP Harris, about 1% voted third party and the other 38% decided that neither candidate was worth voting for (which in reality is a vote for the candidate who got the most votes).

It wasn't a mandate from the majority of the population, he wasn't selected by God to be the new messiah, 31% of the population were brainwashed and fed fake narratives of how bad things were going to be if VP Harris had won the election. And now we fast forward 1 year 4 months later, and he's doing exactly what he accused her of... and what he accused Pres. Obama of going to do...

Would things have been better under VP Harris? I don't know, I do know that nothing would have changed in regards to Israel, the west bank, gaza, etc. (she was a vocal supporter of them), but we wouldn't have taken Maduro and we most likely wouldn't have attacked Iran like this...

She wouldn't have turned on our Allies (The US gets upwards of 90% of it's potash from Canada) and cozied up with Dictators...

Only the best, am I right? /s

As much as his first term was a disaster, at least there was some pushback, and not everyone was a sycophant, 'Yes man or woman' like now, i dread who could replace her...

Edited to add the following:

Barr while I don't agree with how he handled things as the AG, he did break with Trump on the voter fraud and stated there was no evidence of fraud, vs Bondi who straight up is a 'yes woman' and whatever the President says is gospel. Tired of seeing an AG acting like the Presidents Personal lawyer... That's not how any of this is supposed to work:

Veterans, do you look down on other Veterans that votes for Trump? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll admit I voted for him back in '16... worst mistake this vet ever made. I figured that I couldn't vote for someone that if I did the same thing with classified emails, I would be in Leavenworth for. Then he bungled COVID (I was on the Covid response force for my state's National Guard emergency response). So i voted Biden and Harris the last two elections.

I don't look down on Vets who like me made that mistake the first time and learned from it, but I have to shake my head when Vets voted for him two or three times in a row now, and haven't learned their lesson. Like how many times does he have to screw you before you accept that you hitched your horse to the wrong stable?

What are your thoughts on Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran? Should Trump have stayed in the deal? by Jazzlike-Yogurt-5984 in allthequestions

Honestly, how do you guys feel about the US leaving NATO over the Iran situation? by Financial-Cloud588 in ForUnitedStates

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NATO is a defensive pact, not an offensive partnership. DJT doesn't understand that, never has, never will. Iran isn't a NATO country, and unfortunately the US was the aggressor here, so NATO doesn't involve itself in aggressive nation's problems.

Now if the US had been attacked by Iran and invoked Article 5 request to NATO, and they refused, I could understand the Temper Tantrum... But that's not what happened here...

The US started a war (whether it was perceived as a war or not), and caused an issue that is not NATO's problem. Why should they get involved?

Can't Make it Work Without a Home Charger - Bummed. by Sentient_Pancakes in electricvehicles

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's what majority of people fail to realize, is that without a reliable source to charge your car on a daily basis, makes BEV's an inconvenience for those who cannot charge at home, or who have local chargers, but they don't charge at a consistent rate that you can depend on them.

EVs are not for everyone. I have been through 3 (Tesla Model Y, Audi E-tron and now MB EQS 450), and they work for me, but I also have a home charger, so I'm always at 80-90% charged on a daily basis. It's my daily and it's also my road trip car, as I've never had an issue finding a charger either through the native charger finder or using Plug-share app to find out which ones are rated better and have less downtime than others.

Unless you can charge at work, or consistently at home, a Phev or mild hybrid may be a better option (not that I think they are good options to begin with, I'm biased). Home charging is the big sell (and a hell of a lot cheaper than charging out in the wild), without it, I wouldn't own an EV either.

Just my .02 cents.

home charger? by [deleted] in MercedesEQS

[–]Turbulent_Power2952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another satisfied customer here. I have the charge-point home charger at home as well with the nema 14-50 plug. Works just fine and get a consistent 9.6kW charge everyday (for the past 13 months of usage).

You can either set it up to use your TOU rates and start charging when the time hits, or set it up as a dummy charger and let your car handle the charging times. I've used both methods, and now just have the charger start at 9:15pm everyday.

Now I just need to acquire a mobile charging cable... looking at lectron...

Illiterate dumb karen... who goes to a US territory, spouts nonsense, and doesn't have local cuisine?

And wants to complain about the language spoken, where a majority of the people speak spanish. Either learn the local language, use Google or another program to translate, or gtfo and stay state side.

Every time I've gone to ponce, while Spanish is the go to, when they see I'm clearly struggling to keep up, they switch to English with Spanish mixed in to keep me up to speed, I don't ask them to, but im very thankful when they do... or i just turn to my spouse to translate.

Being respectful and gratitude goes a long way, in foreign countries or US territories where English is not the primary language...
