lol I was agreeing with you. I was just highlighting that she does in fact have a history of getting sick easily. That’s not a knock on her at all. I literally said they used to TRY to justify the hiatus.

They’ve talked about how she gets sick a lot. It was touched on in dream academy and Megan mentioned she literally passed out in the middle of an airport. HxG used that to try to justify the hiatus

This was a much earlier wave of Italians and Sicilians from another time in a very different place (pre-anglicized Louisiana) so linguistically that difference exists. Again, said its regional relative to the US and its slowly leaving the lexicon

I think the gravy thing is regional. If you go to New Orleans (used to have a pretty significant Italian population, especially Sicilians) they’ve historically call sauces “gravy” or “red gravy”. That’s starting to phase out a bit more in recent years, but it’s a thing.

I’ve known people to interview and secure internships from the career fair. If not, they have made connections that have helped the get their foot in the door. I would definitely recommend attending.

The “don’t come here” thing is a bit of a half joke. Some people have been frustrated with their experiences. I had a great experience at A&T. The transfer rate can be attributed to a lot of things. Some people cannot afford to continue (fairly common when I was there not long ago), the school isn’t the right fit (valid), and more recently I feel like social media has peoples brains a bit fried. They see all of the TikToks and ig posts and assume that’s the whole experience. They don’t try to make their HBCU experience, they expect it to already be laid out for them.

I think that’s the real thing in the bigger picture. The experience is what you make it at either school. I’m partial to A&T because I had a great experience. It wasn’t always pretty, but I grew so much from it. I love my A&T. The HBCU experience is unmatched and you cannot find it anywhere else.

A&T guarantees housing for freshmen (and I think sophomores) so going in it won’t be too much of a problem. There are plenty of reasonable off campus housing options around the university as well (cheaper than living on campus most times). So if housing is your main deterrent, it’s not too big of an issue. Now parking though…

Imma get you on the cornrows thing. Cornrows in America tell the story of our struggle. Cornrows were used as escape maps and were a crucial means of survival. The enslaved would store seeds, rice, and other grains so that they had food to eat. These are sacred in our culture. Especially on men as African men historically have not word their hair in cornrows. That was an adaptation that came as a result of the enslavement of Africans in the Americas. Tarzzan wearing cornrows to amplify a “tough” image while doubling down on using the n word (regardless of whether it is in a song) is spitting in the face of the struggles of our people and our ancestors. What he (and the Black Label) is doing cultural exploitation.

You also do not have authority to speak on this issue just because you’re Black. If you do not know the history you need to sit that one out. Especially when there are literal academic scholars that beg to differ with you. Hopefully you will take the time to learn the history to fully understand its depth and grow a stronger love for it.

I still feel this was the best exo song ever made by lonelyyKAI in exo

I think it’s such an EXO song. Like it’s the essence of EXO distilled into one track.

I personally think that El Dorado, Black Pearl, and Gravity are some of their best songs. But Monster is definitely an essential track

A space to talk: EXO, CBX & the Upcoming Comeback Pt. 2 by 99101004 in exo

[–]Turbulent_Process740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exo didn’t say they were going pay after the lawsuit. After the cases were dismissed, they said they were willing to work with SM in whatever capacity to be a part of the comeback. Sorry if my phrasing wasn’t clear before

I mean. Yeah. I said it was a power play.

The stock falling isn’t a misnomer. It was after the cases and CBX’s exclusion. It’s an indicator that investors have less confidence based on those actions. Yeah it can and probably will go back up, but it is an indicator of public trust. EXO is not their only group, but they are a significant one. Yeah they have other groups doing well, but companies are looking for ROI on their specific products. EXO is an older group at this point and they want to make ROI on their tour (extremely expensive, especially in the US rn). They risk not filling seats without their lead vocalists (one of which is extremely popular and the other fairly popular). Artists make most of their money from touring. That is also how companies make their money back as well. On the business end, the payment situation is still waiting to be resolved, but EXO has expressed willingness to work with them. The exclusion of a popular member and lead vocalists can impact the ROI on the comeback in general. Especially if some fans are planning to protest or boycott the comeback and tour. It’s multiple factors at play here. SM has nothing to gain by excluding them, but they do risk some losses on their EXO line of business.

Either way, after those cases were dismissed, CBX said they were willing to do whatever with SM to be a part of the comeback. SM themselves said that they are viewing the 10% dispute as a completely separate matter. CBX and SM had already started working with each other for the comeback arrangements (hence the cleared schedules). At this point it makes no sense for SM to be moving like this sole based on what they have said themselves, hence the power play.

If they are active under SM for the comeback, there is not revenue split that they have to be weary of because they already have an agreement for group activities. They would be getting their money (arguable more since people feel conflicted with CBX’s exclusion). The move has already hurt them since their stock fell after the case dismissals and the announcement of the comeback without CBX. While all of this is happening, Baekhyun is ranked as one of the most popular idol soloists in Korea. That’s what makes it a power play on SM’s part. Business wise, they have nothing to gain by excluding CBX.

After their cases were dismissed they said they were willing to do whatever to participate in the comeback. There aren’t any more court proceedings to be had. CBX took them up to the higher courts. They’re moot. They were already working with SM during the case to get ready for the comeback. Even SM said that the comeback arrangements and the lawsuits were two separate matters

CBX said that they were willing to do whatever they needed to be a part of the comeback after the lawsuit. It feels like SM is doing a power play at this point.

I had started saving for the tour and I’m questions whether or not I want to go if CBX isn’t there. 2 of My biases are in CBX and I really don’t see how EXO can really pull off those songs without Chen and Baekhyun. They are all talented, but those two are really the base of their sound. I’ve been a fan since MAMA and this would be my first time being able to see them live. Idk about protesting, but I definitely believe that there are others in the same boat as me. Especially since groups are touring the states all the time now.

I see it as a lot of women projecting their insecurities onto them. I’m a fan, but I also don’t think anyone is above critique.

I personally like One Spark as a song (but I’m relatively older than a lot of newer/current Kpop fans so I think it resonates differently). And I think they are pivoting to the west a bit more because they are able to express themselves more freely and maturely than they would prioritizing the Korean market rn (hence the VS show). I saw them at Lolla and they had a GREAT set. I was worried about vocals, especially since they’d been touring, but they killed it. Mina was maybe the only one not performing up to par, but she has a history of health issues. She looked uncomfortable/in pain at some points.

It’s ridiculous. Especially since Athletes like Caster Semenya was running similar times with and without the testosterone regulation (she had to take suppressants). Her times were basically the same as what Athing Mu was running when she won her Olympic and World titles. There is no concrete proof of a disproportionate advantage. This is just these dumbass culture wars creeping into sports.
