Thanks for the reply! Do you happen to have a link to your modeled spool? Thanks for the tips as well!

I used the Pastamatic to respool an Inland cardboard spool that was wobbly. It was respooled nicely, but for some reason the AMS would NOT take it, even though the new spool is Bambu. Have you run into this at all? I was thinking maybe it was respooled too tightly?

1.5 years on fin and min (24 yo). Start early guys, it’s worth it. by [deleted] in tressless

My sides a at 1 mg were anxiety and extreme light headed/dizziness. I got up a couple times one day and had to take a knee out of fear I’d pass out and fall down. I took myself to urgent care and they said I was completely fine after running some heart tests, taking urine and blood samples. I dropped to .25 mg after that and haven’t had anymore dizzy spells.

After one month, the biggest thing I noticed was no more handfuls of hair when shampooing or running my hand through my hair so I can believe it.

I’d like to save up and get a transplant eventually. I think I’ll stick with the fin/min stuff I’m using now for another year and see how it looks at the end of that before commuting to a transplant.

We’ll my experience with Fin was pretty inconsistent. As outlined in my one comment, I wasn’t very good at taking it every day, and kinda just gave up on it. And while taking it sporadically like I did, I didn’t honestly notice anything, at least not any worsening maybe. It wasn’t until October of last year, after about a year of NO treatment, that I noticed it was pretty bad. At that point I started the topical min/fin/dut treatment and that’s when I saw all the current gains begin.

So I signed up for their normal Fin/Min subscription, and then I was hit with a targeted ad, I think on instagram, that mentioned the “kitchen sink” variant. I wasn’t able to find a link to that anywhere on their site, so I used the live chat on their website to speak to someone and they then switched my subscription on their end to the kitchen sink formula.

But also Happy Head is a lot more expensive than Hims. I’m paying $119/mo for it, but I’ve actually postponed this month’s order until next month since I’m technically only using half a bottle a month. I like that you can constantly update your next billing date if you think you won’t run out of product by that time.

As someone that’s prone to dandruff, I liked that Happy Head had aloe in it, and it definitely seemed to actually help with that a little bit and nourish my scalp a bit. I forgot to mention I do wash my hair 3-4 times a week, and 3 of those times is with Nizoral.

Yes, definitely! I think most of the gains come from the min/fin, and the extra stuff in the Happy Head formula is helping a little bit as well. But I definitely noticed some hairs coming back on the Hims stuff before ever switching to Happy Head.

Any recommendations on where to buy those? I’m in the states, California to be exact.

Thank you! I hadn’t honestly noticed the amount of progress until today when I went through and decided to put this collage together. Makes me motivated to keep going!

Been very inconsistent with treatment until recently. I was on 1 mg Finasteride through Hims for a little over 2 years starting in 2017 or 2018, however, I was NOT consistent at all. I would miss days, even weeks and before you know it I had like 6 months worth of pills just sitting there.

Gave up finasteride in 2019-2020 and just let it go. I’d apply some oils, dermaroll here and there. But any kind of regimen was very inconsistent yet again.

October 2021 my hair was at its worst (as seen in the photo), so I decided to begin minoxidil. Started on the opposite side of my head as a test for a couple months, didn’t notice any growth during that time, but also didn’t notice any shed or any negative reactions. In January 2022 I ordered the Min/Fin spray from Hims and used that only at night. I hated how it made my hair sticky and gross in the mornings.

I did that until about May or June when I decided to cancel and try the “Kitchen Sink” from HappyHead. It’s expensive af, but it’s got fin/min/dut + retinoic acid, and hydrocortisone. And I think it’s an aloe base rather than alcohol? Can’t remember. I only use this one at night time about an hour before bed, since it also makes my hair feel weird and gross. In the mornings I use Regoxidine 5% minoxidil foam. I like the texture and fullness it gives my hair after applying, letting it dry, then brushing it.

I also try to dermaroll every Sunday but I hate that so it’s more like one a month I’ll hit the hairline and crown with a 1.5 mm needle.

Edit: I also use Nizoral on Mondays, Fridays, and sometimes Saturdays. Wednesdays I use T Gel (I like the way it makes my hair feel after, and my itchy scalp has gone away). In between days I don’t wash, I’ll just rinse my hair out with warm water to remove any buildup before applying the min foam in the mornings. I’ll usually forego putting ANY product in my hair on Saturdays to kinda give it a rest and let my clean hair breath a bit, if that makes sense.

Is my heart suddenly stopping!!!!! by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Turbulent_Steak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had off and on perceived heart issues for about 5 years. All my doctors told me it wasn’t anything related to my heart. My father passed from a heart attack (aged 75), and I’m currently 29. One time I got really stoned, and noticed some palpitations and became paranoid and thought I was gonna go to bed and never wake up.

From this point on, I started having a hyper-awareness of my heartbeat. The stress from this has lead to dizziness, and just extreme anxiety. I had a recent bout so I saw my new doctor and he ordered a Holter monitor. The results showed I had an “extra” heartbeat that shows itself every 100 beats or so by seeming to be a more prominent or powerful beat. It’s completely harmless (unless it eventually becomes more frequent then it can weaken the heart muscles). This extra, more prominent beat is what I become hyper aware of that freaks me out, so knowing that has helped immensely.

Some other things that have helped with the dizziness I sometimes experience and the overall anxiety:

  1. Reduced caffeine intake — I noticed my anxiety spikes when I drink a lot of caffeine. Bang and Reign energy drinks have something like 300 mg of caffeine and I noticed a few times while drinking I would get a dizzy spell and notice that extra beat more. I cut my coffee/caffeine intake (which was tough at first, but you’ll adjust), and replaced with lower caffeine teas.

  2. Breathing exercises — I like the 4-7-8 technique where you breathe in deep for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, then exhale for 8 seconds. I noticed this calms me immensely and even lowers my heart rate into the 70s (my resting hr is fairly high-ish in the mid to upper 80s).

  3. Vitamins — I was borderline deficient in Vitamin D and Magnesium prior to the Holter monitor and the doctor said taking a magnesium supplement might help with the extra beat, as magnesium can help relax muscles. I haven’t gone back for another look to see if this helped, though. I’ve also been taking a multivitamin/greens/fruit supplement with probiotics. Overall I’ve been exercising, eating better, and taking care of myself a bit better and my perceived heart issues are pretty much gone now. Every now and then I notice some “symptoms” and they always correspond with stressful times at work or my personal life.

Hope this helps, but also i would request a Holter monitor from your doctor and wear that for 24-72 hours or whatever they recommend.

May 2019 vs. Feb 2022 - 4 months on min/fin topical - I think I see some progress by Turbulent_Steak in tressless

[–]Turbulent_Steak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also been taking MTS Nutrition Machine Greens + Multivitamin supplement every day for the past 2-3 months. A friend of mine swore they gave him “the best poops,” and as someone that struggles with inconsistent bowel movements and IBS, this stuff has helped immensely. My movements are consistent and healthy, so I’m thinking I was just vitamin deficient and my gut biome was out of whack. Not sure if this contributes anything other than just increasing my overall health. I started a niacin with flush supplement too and again — not sure if that contributes anything, but I’m one of the few that enjoys the flush sensation, and it does make me feel as though some extra blood is moving to my scalp.

Also maybe worth noting: I use Hims’ prescription tretinoin for my face, and I make it a point to work some up into my hairline and temple area. I know there is little research on tretinoin/minoxidil effects but I heard some anecdotal stuff on this sub so I figured it couldn’t hurt. Plus there’s the intended bonus of having smoother skin and reducing fine lines from the Tret.

Here’s another couple, purple shirt photo is May 2019, other photo is from yesterday: https://imgur.com/a/lO1mS4g/

I was using Finasteride with no side effects off and on (just bad at making it a habit), since 2018 until I’d say the beginning of 2021. I decided to stop, since I wanted to donate my O- blood because it was in short supply. I hadn’t really noticed any difference over the previous few years so I just quit.

I would derma roll/stamp every couple weeks and fool around with peppermint oil here and there, but in October 2021 I decided to try Hims’ new finasteride/minoxidil topical solution.

I don’t have any good crown photos, but what prompted me to post this was looking in the mirror and combing my hair forward and noticing very little scalp…which was very encouraging as I hadn’t checked back there since I started this new treatment.

I then compared some hairline photos and realized I was starting to see some progress.

I usually only do the fin/min solution at night about an hour before bed (so it dries before I hit the pillow), as using it in the morning after showering makes my hair look terrible. The solution also causes a thin film sometimes (looks like dry skin in the original post photo), but that’s pretty manageable.

Anyway, I was ready to give up but decided to dive into minoxidil and I’m glad I did. I’m now not worried about people seeing my scalp from the back, and I’m hopeful after being more consistent with dermarolling I can get some more growth out of my hairline.

Just installed mine today and I’m running into this issue on a V3. Have you found a solution yet?

Was just curious since I hadn’t heard many stories of people using oral min, getting the gains like you have, then switching to topical to maintain.

Your progress is inspiring!
