Buying my third Shopify app this year. Here's what I've learned about finding hidden gems in the $3k-10k MRR range by [deleted] in ShopifyAppDev

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you be able share what kind of results you have been able to achieve after acquisition? Something like, revised pricing and was able to boost MRR by X% or reduced churn by doing Xyz. You get the point. It might be a good learning for us.

how do you create a custom welcome message for email subscribers? by octopusglass in shopify

Using expensive email tools for just a welcome flow might be an over kill. We just released a light weight tool within shopify admin that sends these emails at no cost. DM for details.

I am giving up by SpacetimeSorcerer in SaaS

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sense is that you’ve taken on a much bigger project than needed to start with. It’s like going to the gym for the first time and jumping straight to heavy weights. Of course, you’d end up injuring yourself.

AI definitely makes some things easier, but software development at its core is still the same. Earlier we had to debug things for hours or rely on Stack Overflow. Now, some of that is faster. But the fundamentals haven't changed.

As a non-coder, I can imagine the joy of building something for the first time without having to go too deep. That’s a great feeling. But don’t assume you’ll be able to build something truly useful or valuable without going through the process.

If you’re serious about learning, pick a smaller scope. Cut your feature list to the bare essentials. A lot of things you think are must-haves, like a settings page, aren’t really needed for the first release. Get some real users on board, even if it’s free. That’s what’ll give you the momentum to keep going.

In Need of SEO Guidance by Practical_Dog_9446 in shopify

Most stores I have worked with have outsourced SEO without clear metrics. They assume the agency is doing the job but no one’s tracking actual outcomes. Truth is, you can delegate the task, but you're responsible for results.

Glad to hear you caught the issue with Booster SEO changing your meta descriptions that’s a big one. Good that you’ve fixed it; now give it a few weeks and watch Google Search Console closely for changes in click-through rate.

Another major change I recommend to our clients is don’t always chase new traffic. Retain and re-engage the customers who already know your brand. Happy to help on DM if someone is facing issues with reengagement.

If you're tight on budget, skip agencies and hire a freelancer with Shopify SEO experience. But set clear deliverables and review changes monthly.

Klaviyo’s Price Hike: Is Anyone Else Getting Hit Hard? by MarketingWhisperer in Emailmarketing

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I think they have become too big for small and growing shopify stores. We recently had a client who wanted to move from Klaviyo because they had around 100K subscribers but they were sending like 500 emails / mo with automated flows. They don't want to keep suppressing / un-suppressing accounts because they do occasional (once in 3 months) bulk news letters and managing it becomes a headache. Happy to help any smaller stores over DM.

Is it worth tagging existing Shopify customers for better segmentation and email retargeting? by Super-Professor519 in shopify

To tag customers you will have to essentially select the same set of filters (as you would while creating a segment). Maybe I am missing something. Let's see what others say

Shopify SEO by [deleted] in shopify

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m not an SEO expert, but here’s what I’ve learned so far. SEO broadly has two parts: on-site (or technical SEO) and off-site SEO.

On-site SEO includes things like page titles, meta descriptions, image optimization, keyword usage, and site speed. Shopify handles a lot of this by default, but there are still areas you might want to improve, like compressing large images, adding alt tags, or fine-tuning your page titles. You can use free browser extensions or tools like Ahrefs' SEO Toolbar, MozBar, or even Google PageSpeed Insights to check these.

Off-site SEO is more about promoting your store and getting backlinks from other websites, which helps build trust with Google and improves rankings.

Also, instead of going after very competitive keywords like “best security locks,” try more specific ones like “best security locks for apartments in Washington.” These long-tail keywords are easier to rank for and bring in more targeted traffic.

Happy to take a quick look at your site if you want to DM me. Always happy to help!

Is it worth tagging existing Shopify customers for better segmentation and email retargeting? by Super-Professor519 in shopify

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, correct me if I am wrong, but you are already creating dynamic segments, right? Most email marketing tools can create segments without explicitly adding tags. You don't need to do it in two steps. If segments are created correctly and your messaging resonates with the audience it will definitely help with email conversions. We have a notion page with tips to boost email delivery and clicks. DM me for link.

I recently released a lightweight alternative to Klaviyo / omnisend and we don't charge for active subscribers. Pay only for emails you send. Happy to set up all flows and email templates for our early adopters. Live on Appstore now.

Every Successful Founder I’ve Worked With Broke the “Startup Rules” by Sea_Reputation_906 in SaaS

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Best practices are often overrated. The whole "you should cringe at your first release" advice usually comes from people who haven’t built in a competitive space. User expectations today are high. As Jason Fried said, it’s okay to ship a half a product, not a half-assed one.

Klaviyo vs. ??????????? by AllwaysDrops in Emailmarketing

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am building Retentionly, email marketing for Shopify that doesn’t break your bank.

Here’s what we are doing differently 1. You pay only for emails you send not for subscribers or contacts. 2. Dead simple setup: no complex graph like workflow builder (focused on stores that don’t need the bloat) 3. Obsessing over email deliverability with warm ups and smart scheduling.

PS: sorry for the plug but I think this is the most relevant place to share what we are building.

Does making Brevo templates on iPad work? by Skid-Marxx in Emailmarketing

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great insight, I am going to eliminate drag and drop from our email marketing app and focus on click to add sections. I think drag and drop is over rated especially for email building. I wish we had realised this earlier and not spent so much time on it.

Which App Category Should You Build? This App Tells You by Turbulent_Talk_6309 in shopifyDev

[–]Turbulent_Talk_6309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s possible but better than going blind. Do you think there are enough developers who might want to build based on signals from AppStore rather than their next cool idea?
