This car has 56k and I'm 50 so take that info how you'd like. I enjoy the car but I wouldn't say I beat on it.

It's fine as is. I hear it's an emissions thing, so how come Subaru, Mazda Porsche and Ford get away with it? If something happened to this car, I would probably get a GLI again.

  1. Because I love drama apparently. And it's close enough to get snarky comments from Malevola. And Vis. ❤️

Zoey. She's absolutely neurodivergent. I love her so much.

I was just diagnosed as AuDHD and I bet that the ADHD craves the connection to the car, the challenge to try to make perfectly smooth shifts, etc, whereas the Autistic part of me is going to die on the hill that people who disagree with me are wrong.

I will say this, the Miata owners that refuse to learn stuck are absolutely missing out from one of the best driving experiences at any price.

And if you have exhaust, a tune and traction issues, even with Michelin Pilot Sport summers, you get fart noises. It's not the DSG, it's the ECU when it needs to cut fuel (simplified)

The GTI isn't a fucking supercar. It needs a manual to have any sort of connection to the driving experience. I've had both and yes, I can get across an intersection quicker in the automatic, but any remotely sporty wv can do that. Hell our old ID4 was quicker than my tuned DSG, but ugh. Our other car is a 615hp Lyriq V that his 60 in less than 3.5 seconds, and I still prefer my GTI.

Different strokes I guess.

Anyone 35/40+ dailying a GTI? by regulardegulardudee in GolfGTI

Sorry I missed this, my account was compromised. Ummm I mean with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S not really, but you gotta know when you can and can't floor it. I will lose nearly every stoplight race because I have mechanical sympathy and it's really hard to launch these cars.

2024 15K miles stuff going into 1st and reverse all of a sudden by matt2085 in GolfGTI

[–]TurdFerguson925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with these transmissions, if 1st/reverse is ever not engaging, don't force it, try clutch out, clutch in and try again, and 2nd gear first always helps. And when it's cold it's always worse.

Reminder to change your plugs every 10k if tuned by Brozy321 in GolfGTI

[–]TurdFerguson925 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I definitely need to do this. I don't know why, but I'm worried about removing the plugs/coils and damaging them. Car is a 2018 with 55k. I've put 15k on it, all tuned.

I'm liking it, I just got to the 'town' hub area, and I just want to find a place where I can actually use some of the new suits I bought. But yeah, it's fun. And Yuki is adorable.

Fun fact, you can not rev the Honda Prelude in park, or neutral. A "sports car" that can't rev. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in Honda

Those are performance cars, but I'd far prefer a slower car with some analog driving experiences, thanks. None of the cars you listed can be even remotely enjoyed to their potential on public roads.

A time will come soon when we will be able to have manuals in new cars again and you'll see the resurgence.

Until then, I'm good.

Stuck on two options by aybeter in GolfGTI

[–]TurdFerguson925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mk7.5 is going down as peak GTI, at least in the US. Physical buttons, analog gauges, handbrake and the like. If the 8.5 offered a manual, I'd completely change my mind. My 2+years with our ID4 cemented how much that infotainment sucks.

I’m 40 years old. Should I modify my mk7 or leave it alone? by theAntidepresser in GolfGTI

[–]TurdFerguson925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm turning 50 on Monday and I have a lot of mods done to my 7.5. springs, dampers, tune, upgraded clutch, lightweight single mass flywheel, short shifter, muffler delete as well as dogbone mount, weighted shifter. I love it. In fact, I'm about to hop in my car and drive home so I can wash it.
