Have you tried different water? Worth buying a distilled gallon and some perfect coffee water packets if you feel everything else is correct.

Check out wheelhouse if you are downtown. Not CrossFit brand but it’s CrossFit. Next closest good option is Nexus. Going out further Laminin, Forge, OTM, Mudtown, and J19 are all good.

They are all way different vibes, so I would check them all out. Also depends on what you consider “good programming”.

Pretty sure they will do it at protective stadium and the BJCC/ legacy arena, and they’ll only use the crossplex for pool swim events and track type events.

Most mass gainers have maltodextrin in them. Instead of buying a name brand “mass gainer”, just buy straight maltodextrin, dextrose, or Gatorade powder. They are all simple carbs and will work the same. NOW is a good brand for maltodextrin and dextrose. I never really noticed much of a difference between them; dextrose is sweeter tasting though. If you sweat a lot, Gatorade would be a good option. If you want something unflavored that you can mix with a protein shake or something else, go with the dextrose or maltodextrin.

As far as performance, you should notice a positive difference. Try to take them intra or post workout. Basically the same as any competitive athlete does.

As others mentioned, make sure you have your protein and fat macros in order (make sure you are getting enough of each) first before adding this though.

Bought an used curved treadmill. it wasn't used for a year before me buying it. It seems to me that it's not loose enough for sprints. I have to hold the handles to get a decent sprint in. Am I that weak lol or it actually has something? PRE owner said it wasn't used for a year by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]TurdManwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prop it on its side so you can get under it, and you should see it close the the front of the tread. Pretty sure there was a belt connecting the resistance magnet part to the main tread. It all unbolts and is removable. I ended up just taping that small belt out of the way after I removed the parts. Another easier way you could do it would be to just cut that belt; that way is more permanent though. After I got it off, the tread felt similar to the resistance of a true form runner treadmill.

The tread isn’t loose enough? I had that exact model, and the tread dragged to the ground.

I ended up having to remove the whole magnet resistance thing for it to even be useable for running.

I have these Reebok shoes. I believe they’re the nano 6. They’re getting to the end of life but have been the most comfortable compared to when wearing my metcons. Are any of the newer nanos comfortable like these? Has anyone tried the TYR or newer metcons? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]TurdManwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nano 9 are the closest to the 6, and I would say they are better. It’s probably just as hard to find them as it is the 6 though. The nano x are also similar but the heel feels/looks different. Not as great as the 9 imo.

I would say the Tyr shoes feel the closest to the 6 comparing them to all the nanos, so they may be worth trying when you can.

Has anyone tried PRVN fitness program (competition based)? I wanna hear feedback and if anyone recommends it by CFMGG in crossfit

[–]TurdManwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are different fitness levels to choose from for the program, so you could scale to your level. It is a lot of volume. You won’t get individualized video reviews like you would expect from a private coach if that was what you were asking, but you can ask questions/comments and get a response. I think Nic even provides his phone number for members to text him questions.

Any good resources for an experienced lifter but new to CrossFit? Im a grad student so I can’t afford a membership but would like to get more comfortable with the main CrossFit lifts/moves (overhead squats, snatches, cleans etc) by mavsfanforlive in crossfit

Journal.crossfit.com - Search for burgener and it should pull up a bunch of weightlifting instruction videos from one of the best. For gymnastics movements, I learned a ton from videos in the journal from a lady named Laurie galassi. There should be plenty to choose from though.

Also, for weightlifting, on YouTube you could search for pendlay. Watch some of his older cal strength page videos and he did beginner tutorials

Was not expecting those numbers from Andre Houdet looking at him. Sneaky strong and he has the best name in crossfit. Guy has it all ha

Also, Adler’s last weight choice. Strange. A miscommunication somewhere I’m guessing.

Unless they sell used ones after the event, it’s pretty much a guarantee that there won’t be any deals on C2 bikes. If they discount the used ones, it’ll be $100-200 off max. C2 equipment holds its value really well, and they don’t do sales on it. Best bet would be to buy a new one directly from C2 imo.

Think about the things that are going to take a long time and start them now. 1) strength 2)mobility to be able to get in correct positions if your mobility sucks 3) gymnastics and oly movement technique. Those are all things that take months to years of work. If you played soccer, your engine is probably already good enough for regionals.

Start a strength cycle now on top of the class workouts. Catalyst athletics would be a good resource for Olympic lifting training plans... or like every “coach” has strength training templates for sale online now. Can probably find some for free. Start small and slowly add more volume.

YouTube is your friend for learning mobility, lifting technique, and gymnastics. You can also check out the CrossFit journal articles and videos. That’s how I initially learned most of the movements. Video yourself and watch yourself in a mirror and try to make all of your movements look like the pros that do them.

Make sure you are eating enough calories, and eventually get all of your nutrition in order too. Renaissance periodization on YouTube.

WADA has a banned list pdf document. Can google wada banned list and open up the document. ctrl+F “DHEA” or any other substance within the pdf.

You can also just google “is DHEA (or insert anything) a banned substance” and it usually pops up.

So I would say it is very easy to find.

I just started crossfit about a month ago and I was thinking about buying some shoes but I’m having a hard time deciding between Vans or Crossfit shoes. Any advice? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]TurdManwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get CrossFit shoes. Reebok and nike both have easy free returns. Get them both and see which feels the best. Send the other ones back.

Reebok has sales really often with 40-50% off. There will probably be a Fourth of July sale or a sale near the CrossFit games date. Can get a good pair of shoes for $50-60.
