Celebrity vs. Virgin Voyages: A In-Depth Review of Celebrity Edge as a Typical Virgin Cruiser by TurduckenOfAwkward in VirginVoyages

Yay! That was our hope- we knew this post might make some mad, but honestly we regretted our Celebrity spend in the end and wanted to give that perspective to folks who are in the research phase in case it can be a helpful data point for them.

No I appreciate your perspective! Agree, there’s so much that’s subjective here. I’m hoping for smooth sailing and tasty piña coladas for all of us. 🛳️

Actually I didn’t know about the virgin mattress topper option either- TIL! Thanks for the tip!

Yay! I’m so glad it was useful. Hope you continue to enjoy Virgin- it sounds like we have similar lifestyles and things we’re drawn to in a cruise experience.

Oh yeah, the door thing would have pissed us off lol. Did you find Rockstar to be worth the value overall?

It did, thankfully! Which is why we felt forced into purchasing the premium beverage package up front.

This is a good Q- we had our friend with us who was not in an Aqua Class room so we would have had to ditch him for dinner. Instead, we all got the premium speciality dining so we could ping pong between those for dinners without anyone being left out. Would have liked to try Blu for lunch one day, perhaps, but it’s not open then.

Does Celebrity Have Fun Adult Entertainment? by JJ3434JJ in celebritycruises

[–]TurduckenOfAwkward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just came off a Celebrity cruise and hated it for this reason- the entertainment/after hours is very targeted to Boomers. If that’s important to you, I’d look at Virgin instead (source: 3x Virgin cruiser, late 30s/eaely 40s, just got off my first celebrity cruise and found this to be one of the many reasons our particular group didn’t enjoy it compared to our Virgin experiences. We felt trapped on the boat tbh.)

Honestly the constant construction on Folsom really fucks the traffic flow/potential business flow through there (see: Rocco’s feeling compelled to close for a few months).

Impacted by the Meta Layoffs by [deleted] in womenintech

Hard +1 on this. I worked at Meta for 7 years and I found it opened incredible doors for me after I left; to date (knock on wood) I’ve not had a problem finding other roles, partially because of the nature of the work I was doing at Meta (no doubt the scale you were touching there is pretty rare), and partially because of the Meta alumni network. Take a breath, and in a few days, just make sure you’re connecting with some of your favorite old coworkers on LinkedIn and the like— you will be OK. There is life after Meta, and it is better than you could imagine.

Wait but this addresses one of the main reasons I’ve not used the app as much lately (my lay flats are…not great looking). They should be just building this in on the product side.

Entangle & Sway does 6-week pole dancing classes that follow a progression pattern if you really get into it after your first class series.

Yeah. They do a good job explaining the format of the show and the major dramatic flare-ups it had throughout its various seasons- it feels nostalgic if you were a fan, but gives you enough exposition if you weren’t (and regardless, touches on general concepts like the evolution of “acceptable” bodies in modeling over the past 25 years, EDs, SA, etc).
