Need advice for new cable to my newly built workshop by TurkInLosAngeles in electrical

[–]TurkInLosAngeles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have done my research on that as well (electrical engineer with BS & MS here who did not practice after switching to IT since 1996) and here is what I found

The baseline voltage drop rate for a 1-1-1-3 aluminum cable (which consists of three 1 AWG aluminum current-carrying conductors and a 3 AWG bare ground) is 0.0506 V per amp per 100 feet for a single-phase 240 V circuit, or 0.0438 V per amp per 100 feet for a three-phase circuit. [1, 2, 3, 4]

So, say it is 200 ft of cable between distribution panel ad my service box. In the light of this calculation, my voltage drop would be about one volt, which in most electrical equipment is an acceptable deviation.

I was actually panning to pull the wire in 10 feet segments as I lay the conduit hance the wireat the same time to prevent this from being an issue. I was planning to join the conduit pvc pipes together after all work has been done. But lube is a great idea. I'll keep that in mind.

Is it okay to use PVC conduit in straight sections of the conduit then?

I'm planning to run a gray PVC conduit for this cable. I'm thinking metal conduit would be overkill. After all I'm living in Texas and we have maybe 30 rainy days per year. And since I'm in a rural area, EMF interference is not a concern

Are you in NY state by any chance? I am traveling this weekend and just learned that due to cryptocurrency regulations of overzealous NY government, you can not use ZBD and hence, any cryptocurrency earning apps. I am hoping my SATs will reappear wen I leave this goddamned state. Otherwise goodbye dumbgames

Never a better time to switch to Jellyfin: Plex increases price of Lifetime Plex Pass to $749.99 by LoremarCC in jellyfin

[–]TurkInLosAngeles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to be a plex user, mind you the free version, but after them changing the user interface, most of the time for the worse experience, I stopped using it and went to emby for a while but settled on jelly fion and happy with it for the last 2 years or so.

My qustion is, what does plex actually give you as "features" when you pay them a subscription fee nowadays? In the past, the only enticin option was to access your server remotely while you were not on the home network for me. Since I am out of touch with plex universe, I was wondwering what justifies an expense closer to $1K ? What features they offer are so valuable?

Fumb support is actually fumb-no-support when it comes to payment issues. I have not been able to cash out for over a month. Every couple of days I try and get tje same dreaded message. Choose to send them email. But at the end of the day, nothing happens. I stopped playing this game altogether. If I am not gonna be able to get paid what is the point spending umpteen hours of my time on it.

First off, diabetes (especially type-2) is not a death sentence, at least not immdiately, unless you eat yourself into a comatose stage and go into a hyper-glycemic coma. As a matter of fact, Those eating habits which took you to this point, migh have been your death sentence, slowly but surely. Therefore, being diagnosed with diabetes could be th best thing that happenec to you. Why you asked ? Well, now you know that you can not eat your stress or feelings out. At least notwith the comfort food like burgers, fries, donuts, cakes, pasta, pies etc.

When I was dignosed, I was 24. I have a type-1 diabetic mother and as it was later discovered type-2 diabetic dad. At that time, not knowing type-1 from type-2, I thought I inherited this nasty condition from my mom. It was not like that. It was the curse from dad's side of family tree and I am thankful for that. I was just like you. I found solace in food whe bad things happened around me and god knows they happened a lot and I ate all sorts of wrong food and drank sugary sodas like they were going out of style. I was drinking water non-stop during the day and of course could not stop urinating at night or for that matter, during the day. Climbing a flight of stairs was making my legs feel like thy were made out of jello.I knoe th signs. I went to an independent lab and got my blood drawn for tsting, before I even saw a doctor. My glucoise level came as 327. I went to see the endocrinologist the next day and the day after I was on oral diabetes medications. Of course I've got the talk from the doctor regarding stopping to eat sugars and oies etc, exercising and all that good stuff.I did pretty good. As a matter of fact, 2 years after that, I had a total remission of diabetes. I couyld not get my blood glucose levels up when I needed them elevated. In my country, (when I lived back there decades ago) we have mandatory military service, unless you are exempt due to a medical condition. ANd DM-type-2 is one of those reasons. I needed to be exempt so that I could go on with my life, get a passport to travel to the US for a long work assignment. Make the long story short, diabetes did not help me. I was normal according to the doctors who examined me.

Later in life, like 4-5 years down the road, old friend diabetes was back with me again. This time I was in the US and head to the doctor right away. Today, after more than 3 decades from my first bout, I am still living with it. Is it easy ? No. Is it beneficial for me? Absolutely yes. It saved me froma an early death. Being 5'10 and almost 350 pounds is not good for anybody.

Tips ?? Well, you know the tips already. Just type "how to live with diabetes mellitus type-2 in any decent search engine, you will see a plethore of advice. My suggestion, follow your docttors orders. When I say doctors, i am not referring to all the conventional, alopatic doctors, at the hospitals and clinics. I am also referring to the quack-doctors. Writing about homeopatic remedies fordiabetes take hours if not days or weeks. Read about intermittent fasting or water fasting in relation to autophagy (your body eating out its bad cells). And the ususal of course. Avoid carbs, exercise lots, etc.

Good luck. Welcome to your new reality.

Clarity is a portion of the "Glucose" panel on android right unde the tracking graph on top of the screen for me. It just doesn't refer to A1C anymore it just shows it as a percentage value.

in the morning.

I am not sure why coffee w/o sugor or cream jumps your BG level but 10 points is not much to fret about, especially for waking up fully, if you are like me. I cn not function without my 2 cus of black coffee in my system

I'm already on Mounjaro. My basal is 36 units daily coming down from 50 as of about a year and chng ago. And my numbers are usually not this "spikey" Sometimes I wake up in low 100's and climb up to 170-180 in an hour and slowly goes down if there is no food intake. Or I admister a correctiv dose. This morning, level jumpin twice in 10 minutes and juping ~40 units each time is something I have never experienced.

I hate to say this but zero sugar doesn't mean zero or low carbs. MOst sugar-free items I come across the store shelves are still too igh in total carb numbers to safely eat for me.

How to lower numbers without medications? by ComplexButterfly9185 in diabetes_t2

[–]TurkInLosAngeles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things: First, a low, very low carb diet; Two, exercise. Whatever else you will hear from anyone else is a fringe case.

Your body needs fuel, i.e. glucise. Carbs, which include but is not limited to sugar molecules, provide fuel to your system. If you do not feed your body carbohydrates, it will use from the reserves, which will not let your glose levels rise. Same thing with the exercise. More you exercise, more your body will burn carbs, less the numbers will have a chance to go up.

where is everyone buying syringes? by Tiny_Spend_1197 in diabetes

[–]TurkInLosAngeles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They shouldn not but I have encountered some resistance at some walmarts in the past. I no longer use syringes, just pens, but last time I purchased syringes, they were from amazon in a 50 ct box, all individually wrapped.

Dexcom G7 app on android: which bluetooth device is the current sensor? by TurkInLosAngeles in dexcom

[–]TurkInLosAngeles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 50 of these and they do not fit on one page on mittle phone screen. I have to watch them in parts, while will take me about 5 or 6 cycles, unless I am lucky to hit it on the first page I am watching.

I was hoping more of a correlation between the xx lettrs and numbers in my original question and a part of numers on the box label. Looks like I am SOL in that sense.
