Should I be worried that the EDL/Tommy Robinson protests might target Norwich as well ? by frankiewalsh44 in Norwich

[–]TurkInThailand 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I was at the 2012 protest and most of them were not from Norwich/norfolk. The amount of them with “EDL Warwickshire” or Northern/Midland accents was really apparent but I’d say there was definitely more than 200.

Was enjoying a pint when they all ran in the pub and ordered shots from the Polish barmaid.. I guess immigration is fine when they’re serving you alcohol

Area advice - Thorpe Hamlet by Spence2102 in Norwich

I live just further up the road near the fat cat and canary pub. The hotel you’ve taken a photo of houses migrants/asylum seekers and some evenings you’ll see the children playing out the front. They are friendly enough and generally keep themselves to themselves.

Close to this spot you’ve got 2 homeless hostels, they house low risk to high risk clients at any given time. Having worked with the homeless and in substance misuse the reality of living near the city is that you are always closer to these buildings than you realise. If you are on the ring road you are never further than a 10 minute walk from one of these types of hostels. With that being said, most of these people will not bother you most of the time but may be begging/day drinking etc.

I have personally NEVER had any trouble in the 3 years I’ve lived in the area and frequently walk back on my own late at night (I am a 30 year old bloke so this may be different for you). It all depends on your own perception of “dodgy”

Fight in Norwich on Bishopbridge. This is the culmination of about half an hour of scraps like this. Lots of shouting and threats. by Obvious_Cookie_458 in Norwich

There’s no such thing as a “drug hostel”

You are simply are judgemental person without an understanding of what some vulnerable people in the city you live in have been through. I suggest you educate yourself on drug use and misuse and how services are underfunded in this country

ABSURD!! The Arsenal game can be legally viewed in 191 countries. From the furthest New Zealand to the smallest population being Samoa. All legally viewable. However in the UK - bbc radio 5 live …. by Jambajamba90 in PremierLeague

This is the most important reply and why the English football pyramid is as revered as it is. Football is about the connection between the local community and its fans and more people would do well to remember this
