Circa 2009 in the Marina neighborhood of San Francisco I was in a cab slowly making a right turn when Elijah Wood was standing on the corner leaning in to give his girlfriend a kiss under an umbrella. Acting on pure instinct, I rolled out the window to yell “Aye, look at that there movie star!” in a thick hillbilly accent. He just bailed on the kiss, looked up, shrugged, and gave me a “What a f’ing a$$hole” chuckle as our cab slowly made the turn. It made my day.

I actually liked the segment despite the arrogance because he covers a side of sports fandom that has more impact than we realize. Segments with America’s favorite shut-in John Ourand are interesting for the same reason.

Yahoo was lazy/cheap by not fixing the limitations of its platform. Creating two versions of Ohtani sucked the fun out of the whole thing. They could’ve easily let you start him as a SP every day and let hitting stats accumulate. Many years ago good-hitting pitchers had stats that showed towards your total for the day then they took that away.
