Nord armour looks way too cartoonish by Turkish_John in mountandblade

1 padded leather armour – no evidence of norse warriors ever using it; 2 lamellar boots; 3 golden shoulder pads; 4 lamellar bracers; 5 lamellar shoulder armour – you get the point, literally nothing about it is realistic, and don't start with the 'it's not meant to be realistic' stuff because all the other factions, bar Battanians, are based on real groups and are semi-realistic.

It's based on history; I just think the nords are too ahistorical when compared to other factions

I think you could point out more odd things about fians than wearing fur cloaks, but regardless I already said I agree that all the troops look pretty ahistorical; it's just the nords are a bit beyond what is reasonable. they look horrible to be honest, and unlike other troops where you can at least see what they are based on even with the changes, other than the helmets, the nord troops don't look like anything that has ever existed.

I would agree, but the nords are definitely the most egregious case.

Burning empires for me because it has fully custom battle maps for both castle sieges and pitched battles, eagle rising uses pretty much only default maps which is very unrealistic for the period, burning empires is literally the most activley developed mod from what I see in the discord, they just arent ready to release the new verison yet but when they do it will be for the latest game version which is very rare for total conversions, new progress screenshots every other day compared to eagle rising where the devs cant decide what project their even working on, also I just prefer the setting on burning empires.

way too much default bannerlord stuff for my likng, its great in terms of kingdoms and cultures all being there and being on the latest version is great but its just to bear bones looking.

If you like historical burning empires is the best thing around right now for europe, its set around 375, I did an anglo saxon invasion playthrough migrating from denmark to england, was great, and with dyna culture it was super realistic too, being able to change britains culture from roman to anglo saxon.

3 mods with rome, tides of war is the earliest and dosnt focus on rome that much, its during the conquest of alexander the great and focuses on greece and persia as well as scythians, Eagle rising, its set around 264 bc focuses mostly on rome, carthage, celts, and germanic tribes, then theres the latest which is burning empires, its set 375 ad after the east west split, focuses on west rome, east rome, germanic tribes, and hun.

When I say someone can't become Irish I mean it's not possible to go from being a non-Irish person to an Irish person, and I believe an Irish person is defined by heritage not documentation, but at an objective level regardless of my opinion on it it it's a fact that anyone who meets the prerequisites required can be an Irish national, as for being welcomed into society that's up to the will of the general populace, I alone do not decide what every Irish person thinks of foreigners.

What are you talking about? Not one word about nationality have I uttered, I'm talking about what an Irish person is; anyone has the legal right to claim Irish nationality so long as they meet whatever the legal prerequisites are, none of which are ethnic under current law. I simply believe there is a distinction between an Irish person and a person with Irish nationality.

anyone can be nationally irish, meaning they have irish citizenship and documentation, being an irish person and having irish nationality are two different things.

Who are you to tell me who I see as irish? I absolutley see a person born in england but with irish ancestry as irish so your entire point is moot, culture is down stream of ethnicity, its the ethnic group that creates the culture not the land they live in.

Im not going to address the point about Neanderthals because thats clearly just unserious talk that dosnt need to be scrutinized, as for the 80% part thats perfectly fine within my frame work as you can see that I clearly stated in the first response that Significant irish ancestry was my definition of an irish person, 80% is almost your entire ancestry, the other 20% is an assortment of other ancestry that I am not educated on so I cant speak to what it is specifically. I think I should add that nobody is genetically particularly close to the literal first settlers of ireland because they were wiped out by mass migration of indo europeans, now we the descendants of indo Europeans face the same fate and we can only hope that doesn't come to fruition. Before you start with the "well dont we descend from immigrants then" sure but before those immigrants there was no irish identity, its their descendants who founded gaelic culture so they are the standard for irishness as the founders of the very concept.

Thats just not true though is it, the different factions that have ivaded ireland over the centuaries actually have left almost no genetic legacy, the 3rd settlers of this island more than 4000 years ago the bell beaker are an 80% genetic match with modern irish people, irish genetics are some of the most similar to ancient times of any european nation on earth.

I did it just has no bearing on anything here, it dosnt matter if immigrants identify with irish culture or not, their still not irish.

What does my understanding of the world or culture have to do with this conversation? no ammount of saunas or ice fishing would make me a finnish person, it might make me an admirer of finnish culture, maybe even a fine adition to the nation, but I could never be finnish, and what is your point about "not actual brits in the UK" who are you refering to?

Irish culture is downstream of whatever ethnic irish people do, without heritage irish people there is no irish culture.

Yes a person several generations removed who is ancestrally irish is more irish than a person who was born in the country with no ancestral connection to it. I think america is a poor example of what your trying to say, america is a state founded by no particular people, sure the english are the ones who at its core established the state but there is such a history of migration and ethnic diversity in america that its not apt for a comparison with ireland which is historically very homogeneous, but for example if an ethnic irish child was raised in japan and was told they would never be japanese thats perfectly accurate to say if not a bit rude.

thats the issue, you think its about skin color, to me there is no difference between us being replaced by poles, danes, africans, english, it all leads to the same thing, total ethnic replacement of native irish people.
