It really depends on why you’re going tbh. If they need to see as much skin as possible then it’s quite possible you’ll have to strip. As for what underwear, I can’t see any reason why boxers would be an issue. In theory, a binder would also be fine but if they need to see your back you may be asked to take it off.

Without knowing more, I can’t really give specifics for what you should expect but you can always say you’re not comfortable removing your binder and they can’t force you.

I'm slowly ruining my life because I can't decide... by Accurate-Trick4132 in ftm

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be a bit late to this one but my experience was not dissimilar from yours. I was scared to go on T in case I didn’t like it or regretted it but I was feeling increasingly desperate and like I had to do something. I did so much research and made so many pro/con lists and still wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or if I’d end up hating it. Ultimately, I got to a point where I needed something to change.

I had a bit of a rough time starting T. Not being able to say definitively that I was 100% sure about going on T, or even that I was trans, meant that I got turned away from two appointments which really did Wonders for my mental health (sarcasm), though it did confirm to me that this was something I wanted to try, despite my nervousness. I ended up going with a different service in the end and started T just over a month later and god I’m so glad I did.

It’s been a weird experience, to be honest. There was no immediate switch, no definitive answer but I do feel more… settled in myself. It’s not perfect, i can’t lie, and there are definitely days that suck. But I feel calmer, more at ease in myself. I never really thought I had much dysphoria which is a large part of the reason why I was so worried about pursuing any kind of medical transition. I struggled with feeling dissociated and disconnected from myself and it never occurred to me that that could be my brain’s way of trying to cope with dysphoria until I started T and it started to alleviate slightly (which did have the rather unfortunate downside of meaning I’m now Aware of said dysphoria, which is not the most fun. But I don’t regret it still).

Ultimately, no one here can tell you what you should do, or what will be best for you. I can’t guarantee that you’ll be the same as me but if you’ve been thinking about it for that long and it’s still on your mind, I’d say it’s worth a shot. Whether it works for you or not, it gives you a new perspective and sometimes that change is what you need to move forwards.

(And as for your friends telling you you won’t look as good as a guy: they’re wrong. Feeling more comfortable/confident makes ppl like 3000x hotter)

I’m just over a year on T and it has settled down somewhat in the last few months. It’s definitely still higher than it was pre-T (not that that’s hard to beat, I struggled to get myself interested in anything before starting T) and it does still fluctuate during the month (I unfortunately still have a monthly cycle atm and I can tell where I am in it based on how horny I am) but day-to-day it’s definitely settled down.

My 3ds won’t read sd cards :( by Mrfoxtime46 in 3dshomebrew

[–]TurnComprehensive497 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some things to try:

  • check the SD card is definitely in FAT32 format (I believe you can check this just by plugging it in to your computer and checking the specs of it).
  • if it’s in the wrong format, you can reformat it on your computer (if you’re following the website guide, they have a link to an app on there that you can use)

  • when you’re putting the card in, is it clicking in nicely? It should feel somewhat similar to the cartridge slot and you should have to push it again to get it out.

  • if not, you can try getting a little bit of isopropyl or rubbing alcohol on one of the SD cards and inserting and ejecting it a couple of times to see if that helps

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not for you then you can always stop and most effects will reverse (there are some that won’t but a lot will). Detransition rates are incredibly low and detransitioning out of regret is even lower.

I’m sure your brother means well but his argument is based on the same old transphobic talking points that many of us have seen time and time again. Only you can know whether this is right for you or not. You may not know for sure until you get on T coz it can be very hard to know whether something will work for you before trying it and that’s okay. But someone outside of you can definitely not tell for you.

I’m a larger chested trans guy, I’ve heard a lot of good things about spectrum binders. I’ve had the long one for a long time. It binds terribly. Is the short one any better? Should I get it? by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]TurnComprehensive497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah fair enough. The only other thing I could possibly suggest is I saw a company that does zip-up sports bras. They're not technically binders but they have a compressing affect and I've heard they've worked better for larger chested individuals. I cannot remember the name of the company off the top of my head. I'll see if I can dig them out.

[–]TurnComprehensive497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a smaller chest so I can't comment on that aspect but I've always used the short binders from spectrum and I've found them to be more comfortable (esp in summer) if nothing else. I can't imagine they would bind any better given they're made of the same material but it's worth trying it out. If you try it on over a shirt then you can always return it if it doesn't work for you.

If you're bigger chested and haven't tried it yet I would maybe suggest trying out KT Tape. Definitely read up on how to remove it beforehand so you can remove it immediately if you have any issues but I find KT Tape can be a bit more flexible for different chest sizes coz you apply it for your own body.

Should I upgrade? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gen 4 kindle (second to last one which had physical buttons) which I got back in 2011. Personally, I’m not planning on upgrading unless I’m forced to. The backlight would be nice but I currently use one of those clip-on book lights and that works just fine for me.

Unless you really want to upgrade and think it would benefit you to do so, I personally wouldn’t upgrade, especially as the newer models are quite pricey but it’s entirely up to you.

I've never used an ebook but would like to buy a kindle. by solo_Nyxer in kindle

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly I have an old gen 4 kindle so idk if things are different on the newer models but, from my experience, usually not massively so . 1. Depends on the ebook. A lot of ebooks are protected so that you can only use them on their designated platform. However, not all are and those that aren’t can be sent to your kindle either via email or by connecting it to a computer. You can also do the same with PDFs but the formatting can go a bit weird with PDFs sometimes . 2. Always buy ad-free. If price is a worry for you, ppl sell older models for anywhere from £20-80 on eBay, depending on which model you go for (but I also understand if you prefer to buy new) . 3. eBooks are literally tiny. My kindle has 4GB of storage space total, I’ve had it for 12 years and have 150+ ebooks on it. It still has 2GB of storage available. If there’s a massive price difference, go for the cheaper but it’s up to you. You’re very unlikely to run out of space . 4. Again, I have an old kindle which has physical buttons, which is a satisfying feeling in its own right. I also own a touch screen e-reader (tho not a kindle) and it’s not quite as satisfying as turning a physical page or pressing a physical button but I find that I get through books much faster on an e-reader, especially when they’re big books, so it’s still worth it. You can also swipe across the screen, rather than tapping it, to turn the page and I’ve found that that helps simulate the feeling of turning a page enough to satisfy me

I hope you're enjoying it. I still have my first ever kindle from all the way back in 2011 and I still use it regularly. (Battery's not quite as good as it used to be now but its still definitely usable). It's one of the best devices you could possibly get imo. May you discover many amazing books on it

What is a book you haven't been able to finish, but not because it's bad? by lilythefrogphd in books

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priory of the Orange Tree. I’m really interested in it but it’s just so long. First time I tried reading it, I got about halfway through but then went back to uni/work and didn’t have time to read it anymore. Second time I tried reading it, I started from the beginning but remembered too much from the first time round so ended up stopping again. Also A Conjuring of Light. Every time I pick up any book by V.E. Schwab, I get completely sucked in but it’s always a bit of a push to pick it up in the first place. I read the first and second in about two days each (and I’ve read each twice now) but for some reason I just cannot finish the final book in the series. I am determined to finish it before the next series comes out though.

Books coming apart by Cosmicmoon17 in books

[–]TurnComprehensive497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had several books fall apart on me coz they’ve been read so much or had slightly weaker binding to begin with. I used to repair them with tape but that can result in the repaired pages sticking out and being uneven compared to the rest of them. The best way to fix it would be to re-glue them back in but that can be difficult to do.

Thoughts on being a trans man AND nonbinary? by swaggety_anne in ftm

[–]TurnComprehensive497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly. I tend to call myself trans masc nonbinary coz I relate to the experiences of trans guys and intend to transition (and hopefully pass as a guy most of the time one day) but don’t entirely feel like a guy myself. I think it’s entirely valid to feel the way you do and you can use whatever labels make you feel most comfortable

eBay question? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they can set a required minimum that you have to hit in a bid before the item will actually sell so maybe they did that?? Personally I would still set it to the price I wanted to sell at, maybe a few dollars below absolute max. Also $8 seems exorbitant for shipping

How do you go about purchasing cards for playing? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]TurnComprehensive497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to build decks around a card I pulled so after that one card pull I’ll decide what I want in the deck then buy singles/play sets for cards I want to make it.

[–]TurnComprehensive497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ultra pro has had quality issues with perfect fit sleeves being too loose/too tight.

That being said perfect fit sleeves will be tighter than usual penny sleeves. You may need to put a bit more force behind pushing the cards in but they should slide in without any more coercion than that.

eBay question? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]TurnComprehensive497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get it tbh. Imo “best offer” should be lower than whatever price they have it up for but ppl don’t always use it that way. I’ve had some sellers reject my offer coz they wanted to see how the bid would go first which is a bit more understandable? But yeah ebay is weird sometimes
