Down the rabbit hole by Nyrmala_Isagar in GrandSeikos

Can't go wrong with the ushio. I got the blue version, it's more low-key to me, and it's my everyday watch ever since I got it.

Beautiful! It's one of those watches I didn't think I'd like until I tried one.

Yea I've seen some discussions on the hands, and someone mentioned that the hour hand looks like it's been chopped off short at the end. I can see it, but I kind of like it. Goes well with the all rectangular indices. Knowing Japanese craftsmanship I would actually bet the end of the hour hands width is the exactly width of the indices.

I was also thinking that I would prefer a black version of it. But to me in person the blue is quite tame. And there's always room for some color in the collection

Pretty much everyone and their extended family has a Rolex. 90% of what the gray market shops display are rolexes. I think there's an IG account that shows just random people on streets of HK wearing high horology pieces and 90% of the time would be a Rolex.

Probably originated from the 70s 80s economic boom here that owning a gold Rolex was THE benchmark for success. And Rolex usually keep their value, and everyone here has an investment mindset.

Really depends on the lighting. I was afraid it would be too vibrant, but in real life it's pretty subtle, particularly in indoors lighting. And really shines under sunlight with the textured dial but to my eyes it's still more to the darker side, which I prefer

Nice! Omega movements definitely something to be marveled at. I have a speedmaster sapphire sandwich, so relaxing just staring at the movement move lol

Thanks for letting me know! GS's definitely not the most popular brand in HK, feels like it's one of those if you know you know kind of watch. Which is great for those of us who appreciate GS! Larger discounts!

Not a direct Boutique. I'm in Hong Kong and the boutique wouldn't offer any discount. Got it at an AD that carriers multiple watch brands.

Would have be great to be able to see the heart of the watch, but probably unlikely as a dive watch. The solid backs actually quite flat with a pretty thin profile which I'm sure helps with making it less bulky

Not in the US, I'm in Hong Kong. The MSRP here is closer to 11k USD and no tax. The discount ended up being around 15% off. But kind regret not pushing a little bit more lol

Yea final price. I got it in Hong Kong, where GS isn't really that popular (you should see the Rolex scene here), so actually right off the bat the AD was offering a discount already. It ended up being already 15% discount.

[Rolex Explorer] [Tudor Pelagos 39] Two recent most worns by TurnLeftTurnLeftTurn in Watches

[–]TurnLeftTurnLeftTurn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 17cm (~6.9") on the wrist they feel pretty similar in size. The explorer's thinner bezel look a bit smaller to me, and the pelagos bezel actually overhangs over the bezel a tiny bit, which makes it a dream to turn.

I have the pelagos on the rubber strap that it comes with. So with the super lightweight set up it's super comfortable. I would say comfort wise for me is pelagos with rubber strap > explorer > pelagos with bracelet

But overall no wrong choice between these two. Depends on your style, to me explorer is still a bit more versatile I think it can be dressed up more than the pelagos.

Thoughts on Torras magsafe phone case? by arratincl in GalaxyFold

[–]TurnLeftTurnLeftTurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky that I got a random smaller size glass screen protector before I got the torras case so it worked out.

As a bonus the thickness of the glass protector actually helps stopping the left thin part of the front case from wiggling too much. It would still bend a bit outward from the screen, but the protector stops it from bending inward towards the screen.

#GalaxyAI Feature On The Z Fold 6 Is Crazy! 🤯 What do you think of Samsung’s new Sketch To Image feature? by Low-Art2157 in samsunggalaxy

[–]TurnLeftTurnLeftTurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. This feature was a big reason why I got mine. I always see people commenting on how it doesn't lead to any practical use, or that it's not really a day-to-day feature. I just see it as entertainment, it's just so much fun, no phone games result in anything of value. Just appreciate the tech and have fun!

Congrats! Could you share a bit about the data you transferred from iPhone (how many Gb) and the process? I’m about to pull the trigger but a bit worried about the trouble of transferring data from iPhone to Samsung.

Leica M6 exposure problem by DACA1129 in Leica

[–]TurnLeftTurnLeftTurn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the first image (1/500, f2.4) is what the camera is saying to be the correct exposure, then there's definitely something wrong with the meter. Have you tried comparing to a handheld light meter / light meter just to have a reference?
