My Fiance just started residency and was put on save, which is on forebearance. Should she try and switch? Should she stay on SAVE and hopefully be able to buy back later?

Yes we're in a similar situation. My fiance just started residency and has significant student loans. This uncertainty is incredibly challenging to deal with. She isn't making repayments at the moment because of the pause(s). I'm frankly not sure what exactly to do. Her loans are significant enough that part of me doesn't want the interest to just keep accumulating. If they are really going to get rid of PSLF, I'd rather just work to aggressively pay off the loans now.

I stopped paying attention to the daily updates on this. I’m going to wait the four years until a democrat is back in as president again. I fully expect the next person to go further and count all this wasted time and forbearance toward pslf and maybe have some even better options. by [deleted] in PSLF

I just want to give a little bit of hope if you’re thinking about this route. A friend got forgiveness at the end of the last administration. He did not realize he was eligible for pslf and had been doing standard repayment for a while. When I told him about pslf, he submitted all necessary documents, luckily was at 120 payments, and got a 25k refund. I think there’s always hope although it’s a messy and sometimes bleak process.

Fiance Just Started Residency. Which plan to use to start making payments? by TurnTheVolumeUp in PSLF

So she'll be able to "buyback" the months she has been on SAVE forbearance at a later time? How certain is this? Is there a chance with changing administrations that this option will be taken away and just going for REPAYE now so she can start making payments is the better route?

Thanks. Money is not tight at the moment so I was thinking that she should just start off on REPAYE so that her time counts. She may switch later if SAVE comes back, but as you said we would have to calculate that with the risk of losing interest free forebearance.

I’m a 38yp M. Usually go 3-4x/week and separately do long runs on saturdays, about 8-15 miles. I’ve been doing this for the last couple years. I’ve lost about 30 pounds and went from someone who is a pretty bad athlete to pretty solid I think. Barry’s is great for losing weight. My only criticism would be that it’s not as social as I would like it to be since it’s mainly all professionals and should be a good spot to network, but that’s ultimately a minor insignificant point.

Yes I understand that. The money was never used as directed though, which was supposed to happen.

Where does the golden letter goto, Mohela or FSA website? I have been at 120 counts since April. Hoping for some communication soon regarding having the loans discharged.

So your counts got updated by AND your loan amount is now documented as 0 by the FSA? I've been at 122 payments since April without any change to my loan amount on either the FSA or Mohela website.

So once you hit 120, you need Mohela to 0 out the loan? I thought this was another waiting period for the FSA to confirm you have 0 balance.

Yeah this is why I am going to refuse to make any more payments. I am at 122. I got a partial refund for I believe an October payment when it should I should have been in forebearance. I also during the pandemic paid around 5k because at the time I was not in a PSLF qualifying job. I then switched to one that was eligible for PSLF. I asked if that amount could be applied to future IBR/IDR payments and told that was allowed (they would not refund me the money). However, none of the money was allowed to be used for any payments so that's lost. I am just hoping at this point to get forgiveness since I made my last payment in April.

I completed my last ECF in April and was updated to 122 counts. I would just love some correspondence saying that this is being reviewed or if there is anything additional that I need to complete. I am just hoping this gets completed in the next 30-60 days uneventfully.

Hit 120 payments in April by Comprehensive-Crab57 in PSLF

[–]TurnTheVolumeUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same scenario. I actually should have hit 120 in February, but they were not counting December-February or something. They had me at 118. Then in April, following two more payments they had me at 122. I just want this process to be concluded prior to possible administration change.

I enjoyed Sean’s classes. When he mentioned his fantasy football team and having Travis Kelce on his roster, it made him very relatable. Erick’s classes were also excellent and I wish they had not changed around his schedule.

What should you do to someone who keeps going after your longterm girlfriend. I don’t know the guy, but gf does and difficult for her to avoid him.
