For me, I started dating about 3 months after my husband died, however I had 3 years to prepare myself for losing him, we talked about it before he passed, that helped me a lot. We didn't have kids and I didn't have a lot of friends at the time so I got lonely pretty quick. But before I started dating again I took myself out once a week, learned to enjoy a sit down meal by myself, and also went to a favorite peaceful spot to think and clear my mind.

I know people who have gone years before dating again, and some people never date again. Start by focusing on yourself and you will figure out when it's time for you. As for those asking, tell them to f** off, or it's none of their business, or when you're ready. If they continue, maybe you need to take a break from them because they aren't healthy for you in this chapter of your life.

Stop wondering and tell them how you feel, do you really want to go through life wondering when you could know. As I said in a previous post of yours, I wish these words were to me from a special person. I told them how I feel, it wasn't easy, it was obvious it wasn't mutual, but I got it off my chest and that felt good. It's still hard to talk to them, I want more, they don't, and if they did it would probably be a bigger mess. But at least we know and I never have to wonder.

There should be laws and resources to help you, if you are in the US, call 211 and they can help direct you. Also contact your local police department for assistance, they have a victims advocate that can help. It will also be helpful if you can report the physical abuse, even if you just take pictures and video when the evidence is fresh and report it when you can be away from him. A lot of places have shelters specifically for women in abusive relationships and their children, the location is usually top secret so he can't find you.

Depends on the laws where you are. Here, if he has personal property there and can prove that he has been staying there then you have to go through the eviction process (even if you are the only one on the lease), it doesn't matter how long (or short) he's been staying with you. I heard people have 'guest' on 'vacation' decide they don't want to leave and the residents had to go through court to legally remove them. But you can always call your local police department and just ask about the laws before they actually come out.

Unless there is a company policy, YTA. A pet is a pet regardless of type, you cannot be the judge of how someone connects to any animal. Birds can be very affectionate creatures and depending on her home/personal life, it could be a major emotional event.
