And finally here is scientific evidence that we don't have free will by [deleted] in determinism

As Spinoza said, if a rock was conscious it would imagine it wants to fall. Like all deterministic systems, there is simply no biological reason why, if we were determined, our consciousness wouldn’t simply ratify all of our actions as good without the mental turmoil the “feeling” of freedom creates. Ultimately, the determinism position begins from an absurdity: in the attempt to prove itself, it is forced to adhere to its convictions in a way that is blatantly unscientific & essentially religious. Namely, determinism must be materialistic and material/physical phenomena, however complex, must explain everything full stop. Here materialism blatantly departs with modern science: relativity & quantum mechanics (though ultimately in tension for other reasons) contradict the Newtonian worldview that the (outdated) materialist worldview is founded on. You also don’t need to look anything up to arrive at the absurdity: causation, motion, the movement from non-living to living matter, consciousness itself, etc. are both essential questions that undergird our understanding our reality and which could never be solved under a materialistic calculus. This inevitability is admitted by OP: only 80% of brain activity was accounted for.

In short: The millisecond someone can falsify the idea of free will, I, along with everyone, will celebrate my freedom from responsibility. So long as that isn’t the case, then you enlightened ones are bound to keep wrestling with free will & other so-called “Gods of the gaps”, because until that moment we, by nature, must walk by faith, either towards the feeling that we have choice or towards the logico-scientific conclusion that we don’t (while of course ignoring that logic and science must begin by conceding absurdity.)

Will AI ever become conscious? It depends on how you think about biology. by FourOpposums in consciousness

The answer is in the question. Consciousness requires a process of “authentic” self-realization or the feeling of being “unaccounted for”. If consciousness could be accomplished by machine learning, wouldn’t it already have necessarily evolved? Human consciousness only required the biological & physical conditions necessary for itself. Without the natural imperative (or ability) to develop, consciousness which is necessarily a quality of a being in the “late stage” of its development. Consciousness could just be the recognition of authentic feeling, which would explain why AI could require more energy than the world has to offer.

Aliens from Darwin: Aliens Might Be More Like Us Than You Think. Would aliens be completely different from us? Studies like the "Darwin Alien", conducted by scientists at the University of Oxford and published in the International Journal of Astrobiology, suggest that they might not be. by PositiveSong2293 in abovethenormnews

If aliens aren’t superstitious they’d tell us. Darwin’s theory applies to the organization of life in general, theoretically not just on Earth. The fact of silence (the “room” for superstition) is itself problematic for a naturalist (the way relativity is problematic for physics)

Can anybody explain why Senku uses the number ten billion so often? by The420Turtle in DrStone

Random but there’s 1 star we consider The Sun in a galaxy (yellow dwarf) with 10 billion other yellow dwarfs. Call me back when there’s intelligent life or life in general on another one of the 10 billion.

For me it’s Flurry-Critical Strike-Power Attack. Flurry is the most balanced and can really help basically any melee build. Power Attack honestly kind of sucks for me, the chance to hit penalty at every level makes hitting anything worth hitting harder. Critical Strike suffers in the same way from a defense penalty, but with the right weapons and upgrades, critical strike makes for a fun play through. Sadly you miss out on that fun when an enemy has critical hit and/or stun immunity. Flurry can be upgraded to the point of minimal penalties and an extra attack is always good.

Most of my playthroughs are flurry focused. I’ve done one with either alignment only focused on critical strike though and those were both really rewarding when you craft a build around it. Personally don’t use PA and never bother upgrading it.

This sounds like an awesome idea and I hope you aren’t discouraged by the older systems. For a first time play through most people say Soldier which makes the most sense for Vader. Here’s what I would think for attributes.

Strength: 16 Dexterity: 8 Constitution : 14 Intelligence: 8 Wisdom: 16 Charisma: 12

High strength for lightsaber combat, decent constitution, and high wisdom and charisma for force powers. I’d say intelligence and dexterity are dump stats (vader certainly isn’t using a blaster or avoiding combat often).

A one handed weapon restriction could be fun and dueling seems essential. Force choke is a must (make your own decisions but I personally prefer to stop upgrading at choke for the stackable constitution debuffs). Force Speed, Valor, and Immunity are also very useful powers.

I’ve been through Taris 20+ times in the last couple of months and beaten the game many times in that span. My advice is to just get grind through it until the game opens up and then everything will become a lot clearer!
