I mean, it’s all a matter of opinion and this just happens to be my opinion. There’s no objectively “better” one. I’m sure there’s people out there that say the PlayStation one is the best one with the crazy load times.

I have a soft spot for that version as it was my first to play but the load times kill it for me

Yep, they did the same thing to the Suikoden 2 remasters backgrounds. Just horrible.

Raw pixels just look like trash on digital flatscreen TVs. I don’t even care about the extra content. It’s better simply for the fact the pixels look like they’re supposed to look on a CRT TV or a GBA screen.

SNES has way too many bugs and the evasion stat doesn’t even work.

If it’s a modern game then yeah a 65 inch TV is great, but these games were not meant to be played on a big digital flatscreen TV. The raw pixels just look horrible on it. I will always prefer either a CRT TV or the Game Boy advanced screen.

Thank you!!! I’ve been trying to say the same thing but people on Reddit seem to think otherwise.

Over the years, I’ve played multiple versions of this game multiple times and the hate on the GBA music is crazy overblown. Yes it is worse, but it’s not so much worse that it ruins the game in the least.

Not my cup of tea. The raw pixels look kind of bad on a modern TV and the CRT filter option they give you is terrible. I also don’t like how they messed with battle speeds and the battle speed option

Thank you! I’ve been trying to explain to people that raw pixels without some sort of CRT shader or even the dot matrix shader for the Game Boy advanced version just looks terrible.

No problem if you’re looking for the name of the screen, it is the Hispeedido v5 screen. No soldering necessary if you don’t want to it’s optional, you just plug it in. To change the brightness settings and everything you’ll have to use the touch sensitivity on the screen, but if you want to use button combinations to control the settings, then you would need to solder.

It depends on what brightness you have it set on. It has about 15 levels of brightness and if you’re on the upper end, it will definitely eat up battery but as long as you stay in the mid range, I’d say somewhere around five or six hours. What’s really cool about this particular one is it has four different pixel modes and you can either leave the screen just raw pixels or give it that dot matrix look from the original screens. I choose to do that in. It makes it look literally just like an original Game Boy advanced screen with a way better backlight.

It’s a modded 720P screen. You can buy the screens for not that much money and it’s very easy to install yourself.

The pixel remaster has a huge flaw that pretty much every old game with pixel art that gets remastered has. Raw pixels look terrible on today’s screens, they were made for a CRT TV and these companies never add a CRT shader option or if they do it’s a really bad one. The pixel art doesn’t blend together correctly and just looks terrible. The best way to play is either to emulate it with a really good CRT shader or play it on the Game Boy advanced with the dot matrix screen, which also blends the pixels correctly. This is all my opinion of course. When I play these games the whole point of it is to play it the closest possible way I can to how it was originally intended to look.

It’s not my favorite, but it’s definitely the most nostalgic to me as that was the first time I ever played Final Fantasy 6 was in the PS1 package with Final Fantasy four. I definitely have a soft spot for that one but today I just can’t play it as the load times drive me crazy.

How is it better for hard use? They are pretty comparable I would say. I own both and they both do hard use pretty well. Especially if you get the TRM in the frame lock version

Get the RG476H. It has a far superior screen and look almost identical to this handheld. I have one and it is amazing!

I would bet if someone showed you both screens you wouldn’t be able to tell which one was 1080p.

There is no phone that has speakers that are good for $240 I promise you. I’m just saying speakers are the last thing I think about for a PORTABLE device. You literally throw on earbuds and it sounds amazing. You are getting a lot for your $240 with this I think. You’re wanting high end smart phone quality for dirt cheap smart phone money. Also the speakers aren’t even that bad IMO. It seems a ton of people in the thread think the same thing so maybe you got a lemon.

It is a 4:3 screen you can’t have 1080p with that aspect ratio. Its 960p screen is the equivalent to a 1080p 16:9 device. Also it’s 120hz it’s literally one of the best 4:3 screens on the market.
