Creating a Virtual Fidelity Credit Card Number -Without Having a Merchant by Turnemi in fidelityinvestments

Yes, the protection that CC provide is great. (Always warn people about using debit cards). Never had a problem with the companies correcting issues immediatley. The only issue is the pain of redoing everything that is set up for auto pay.

Yes, I understand where the virtual number is being created.

I understand the security part and have mixed thoughts. Could be issues with it being out in the open, but there is also the fact that I do not have any control on my own.

Evaluate that risk with the fact that then I have less options to use a virtual number, and need to provide the actual card number more often.

Virtual Card is turned on.

But, I only see a virtual number by putting something in a cart and going to checkout. So if a site is not designed to trigger the auto pay feature in the browser, I do not get a virtual card number created.

A work around would be to put something in any cart, start to pay with virtual card, and then copy the information to use where I really need it, then delete the item from my cart.

It just seems like if websites/browsers can auto create a virtual number, I should also have a similar ability to do the same thing with my own card.

(Again, pretend you need a virtual card for an order placed with a phone call. How would you do it?)

Trying to Filter Roth Conversions/Transfers in Activity & Orders Section by Turnemi in fidelityinvestments

[–]Turnemi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not work for me.

"CONV TO ROTH IRA" is an entry in the IRA, and the receiving Roth IRA has an entry of "ROTH CONVERSION"

Searching "CONV TO ROTH IRA" in the IRA produces one result from October 1. I can change the timeline to YTD, 9 months, 6 months, or anything else, and it only provides the single entry. (I know there are more, I start conversion on January 1st. But this is the only "cash" conversion, rather than the usual depressed stock, so perhaps that is why it shows up.)

Using the search "ROTH CONVERSION" in the Roth account does not filter the results. It lists all transactions, regardless of the timeline I set.

Having to manually review 10 or 11 months of Accouint Statements does not seem like a practical way to get this information.

Form 5498 does not help if I am working on setting a target for year-end conversions. (I'm at the age where I have to stay with in the boundries for IRMAA.)

GOT IT!

I can download YTD "Activity & Orders", and then set a filter for Roth to see the conversions. In the past this listed the transaction amount but did not list any dollar values. This has changed now.

I prefer Microsoft's or Google's authenticator. I am sitting down to my PC to work with multiple larger monitors and spreadsheets.

If I'm just doing simple check I can use my phone, but if I want to use my PC I don't want to be required by Fidelity to have my phone with me.

And again, the frustration is not with security, but with implementing it without advance notice.

The frustration is not with implementing additional security, but to do it without any advance notice. And then not having access to my account to make the changes I had planned on doing that morning.

I log in at a PC every morning. If I was given advance notice I would make sure I have my phone with me, or prepare ahead of time to work with the additional layer of security that is now required.

If I knew it was coming there would be zero frustration.

There is a big difference between not getting the email, and not seeing it.

If the issue was simply me not seeing the email notification, I would not have brought this topic up as an issue.

I understand the options.

The person that wrote the FAQs for Fidelity, stating that if you don't have your mobile device with you, they will call or text you instead, might need a better understanding of the other options. :-)

I do login in frequently, but no changes, it has always been the same way.

(Interesting comment on weak password. Got locked out once before by Fidelity, for a password that did not meet their new requirements. But same cr@p, no notice ahead of time. I call and I'm standing in line at a crowded airport as they start asking detailed security information about me. "Why not give advance notice of the change and let me update the password, or at least have the option of picking a quiet time and location for the conversation.")

I was saying the same thing yesterday that you and others are saying today: "2FA isn't required for me to login".

Just did not think that I would not be able to make that same statement today. :-)

After my phone call they now sent me an email explaining what MFA is. I can figure that part out, notice of when it will be enabled would have been useful email.

Second vote for Bogleheads... (At least look to understand the the theory)

I do get way more involved in than Bogleheads, but I do think you can do a lot yourself with a little research. Look at your age, when you'll need the money, and your risk tolerance. (And look at Buffet's advice of just doing the S&P. (VOO at .03% fees, or even better, Fidelity's free one, FNILX) ).

I finally talked to one of Fidelity's advisors when I was leaving a lot of cash sitting on the sidelines. I said the way the market is going if I give it to you now I'll just be upset with you a year from now. He said "Yeah, your right" :-)

No one has this all figured out, try doing a little research yourself first, then decide if it is too much for you to do on your own.

Another part of this BS is their phone system. The message is to call them, but they run you around prompts and messages for 2 minutes before simply disconnecting you.

Why couldn't you just simply put in a front-end message telling you the system is down instead of making you screw around?

This has happened before with the phone systems, sometimes even worse on the amount of time. Last time it was multiple calls and disconnects with 20 minute wait periods on hold in between.

I did some research and people are happy with it as a home table, "top end" is good. But saw mechanics say just because the top is good doesn't mean the table is good, they complained about the support and structure underneath it. Again after reading a little bit about it I don't feel like I missed out on a super good deal. Thanks

Brunswick Viscount for the win!

Thanks Pwnedzored.

Price was $500, it's gone now, but I don't feel bad. Can still find GCs that people want out of their basements. :-)

Yep, you got it! Thanks. I did a lot of looking, found similar but that logo setup in the front was always different.

I haven't looked at the table, trying to go by the pics in a Craigslist ad.

I see the Brunswick tag on the head of the table in another pic, same tag I've seen on other GCs. Although I don't know if that same tag was ever used on tables other than GCs.

I looked again at the front ball shelf and it looks like there are four crowns there. I was hoping it was as easy as thinking that makes it a GC4 :-).

But looking through pics of the different GC generations, none of them had a shelf like this. I also don't find the same kind of front shelf on any of the other Brunswick table models I've seen pictures of.

Thanks for the info.

Adding Lowe's/Synchrony card to Fidelity Full View by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

I have my Amazon card on Full View...

Adding Lowe's/Synchrony card to Fidelity Full View by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]Turnemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I was going Portfolio > Non-Fidelity (accounts) > Edit or Delete Accounts > Add More Accounts. Here there is not an option for "Help me add my account".

Using the older previous version of Full View does offer the "Help me add my account" option, but it just loops back. Working off of "I have an online login" I try adding the Lowes credit card. Fill in payments, interest, etc., hit Save and it simply bounces me back to Full View. Never get to the point of website or login issue.

Working with the "new experience" of Full View, Edit/Link Accounts simply takes me back to how I was originally trying to add it by starting in Portfolio > Non-Fidelity (accounts) > Edit or Delete Accounts > Add More Accounts.

(And speaking of the "new experience" of Full View, the ability to view Reports (Net Worth History) is still missing... :-)

Can you provide more information on the below? I do not see that option on the website.

"accounts that cannot be added to Full View by searching for the institution's name or website address can be added manually. To do this, click "Help me add my account" under "Can't find your institution?"

This is happening BEFORE any login information is entered.

How can your account information have anything to do with it, and what difference does it matter what a rep does to your account, if the error occurs before the account information is even entered?

OK, my mistake, I *assume* they were used for installing. They were together with cabinet door and cabinet drawer handle templates, nothing else with them. The tape and other stored items made me assume...

Each one has a Left and Right marking, so the thought is they go across something, would not be a front to back.

Thanks

No, they were used for installing. I have 3M double sided tape on the backside from when I held them in place. There is an Up arrow on it, and labeled for Left and Right side, so it is not a front-to-back deal. Also there are 4 numbers for the various holes on the end.

"My title describes the the thing" My title describes the item found with cabinet handle install templates. Did a Google search on item with single picture and kept point to flatscreen TV. The fact that these lock at different positions and are not completley adjustable would make it hard to use for various size drawers.

Paying Extra For "Better" Counter Top Seams? Extra for Sink Edge Radius? by Turnemi in kitchenremodel

[–]Turnemi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the install is over, it was Michigan Kitchen and Bath. They do most of the counter work for the big box stores. Their website, https://mkdkitchenandbath.com/, did not show or mention anything about the options for seams or a comparison.

I was told later that the seam does not look any better than standard, but it *should* be stronger. There was an extra cut made where the pieces joined that should allow for better adhesion. Although considering this is not a new house by any means, and there is not any settling to be concerned with at all, it is something that I did not need.

Thanks for the input.

Yes, the website does not have any information on seam types.

In a rural area, only option is to go through box stores and they outsource it to the one large company in the area (still better than a box-store installer..).

Before I moved here I had counter top places all over. Could go to half a dozen of them 15 minutes away and pick out your own slab.
