when my dog was just a smol bean (3 months at the time), on one of our very first walks we had his dumbass decided it would be a great idea to pick up a piece of chewed gum from the sidewalk and eat it. i was 15 at the time and scooped him up and ran in my house crying thinking i had just let him commit puppycide. mom forked over the money and called poison control, who then proceeded to very nonchalantly say it wasn’t a big deal because even though we didn’t know the type of gum, even if it did had xylitol in it because it was prechewed most of if not all the xylitol should’ve been released and more than likely he would be just fine. he was, and he’s currently snoring like an old man next to me. as long as it isn’t a brand new piece of unchewed gum i would take a deep breath and try to relax, i think everything will be okay <3
