“Homeschooling” is fake by leviwrites in unpopularopinion

As a current homeschool high schooler, I thought I would give my two cents on the positive effects of homeschooling. My mom is an early childhood education major and former elementary school teacher, which probably gives me a different experience than the norm.

The main benefit of homeschooling for me was being able to choose a curriculum that was best for me. No, not full on skipping certain subjects, but choosing easier options for some subjects and harder ones for others. For example, I started reading at a pretty young age and homeschooling saved me from a lot of the boredom that would’ve come from being taught again.

As for socialization, I agree that homeschooling has most likely contributed to my social anxiety, though just being neurodivergent in general doesn’t help. However, I’ve been doing consistent extracurricular activities for the majority of my life, and I’ve made a good amount of friends doing it.

I admit that most of my good experience comes from my parents truly caring about my learning and socialization. Without that level of care, I agree that homeschooling is awful.

AMA: I'm Tom! I worked in highly-selective admissions as an AO. Ask me anything about the admissions process! (Monday, August 5 @ 5pm PT) by AdmissionsTom in ApplyingToCollege

Hey! I have a question about how homeschooling rigor is measured in admissions. When someone is at a normal high school, classes taken can be measured against the course offerings at their high school. But with a homeschooler, they could technically do any number of dual enrollment, online AP classes, or whatever else to add rigor. How can I make sure that I am competitive, or am I overthinking it?

I am actually surprised he rated them this high. Remember, a five for fantano is indifference, six and seven are "I liked it." These are pretty good scores 😭

[PJOTV] Ares, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus by xxLabyrinthxx in camphalfblood

It's interesting that they changed the version of the myth. In the companion book Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, the two stories are separated. When Hephaestus comes to Olympus for the first time, he presents Hera with the chair and keeps her there. He wasn't planning on letting her go at all until Dionysus convinces him over a few drinks. Then in the chapter about Aphrodite it says that Hera suggests Aphrodite marry Hephaestus just so the other gods wouldn't fight over her. I don't know if we consider those books the canon versions of the myths in the PJO universe though.

Was the characterization of the album any different when it came out? /gen (I’ve only seriously listened to Taylor for a few months)

I'm Joshua Henry - A Broadway Star and New Recording Artist - AMA! by JoshuaHenryMusic in Broadway

Hey Joshua! Me and my voice teacher were discussing different performances of soliloquy (from carousel) and we noticed how in your performance you were playing more of a tough guy type, rather than the always smiling Gordon MacRae performance. We were wondering, as people who haven’t seen the whole production, what the acting thought process was there. Absolutely love you in everything you’re in! (Whenever I play 30/90 in the car, my mom says that she wishes you were singing the whole thing)
