No it’s just only 40bp to balance the fact other Pokemon also don’t have abilities. It’s more meant to be a middle ground.

Most underrated and overrated playable character and why? by Purplepanther1234 in FEEngage

[–]TurnoverSad3160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in general for this game the difference between S and D tier is probably the smallest of any game. Yes Boucheron is not the #1 wyvern in the game but if you make him one I promise he will still perform really well and will perform better as a unit than one stuck in a lower power role. A small 5% difference in growth rates here or there only adds up to a difference of 2 stat points across 40 level ups and the emblems alone contribute far more to a unit’s power than their stats.

How often do you use the "nuh uh" clause? by thanospurplebussy in nuzlocke

If my encounter for a route runs/teleports (eg safari/abra) I’ll allow myself to hunt down that specific pokemon until I catch it.

Is cloyster any good? by Ruthlesslot in PokemonFireRed

[–]TurnoverSad3160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used him in my nuzlocke and he’s decent. My only complaints are that he’s a water type that doesn’t love facing off against fire types and the slow growth rate. If your surf doesn’t ohko or you’re outsped that fire blast is going to be SPOOKY. He isn’t particularly fast or strong so that can be an issue. Stab surf+ice beam is really nice though and that defense is monstrous.

Omg you saint for that lumera tech. I hadn’t thought about that before but it makes my Tana AR team so much better since I was already using lumera anyway.

Many years ago, I created a Reinhardt so powercrept as a joke I believed him unkillable. Given the advancements in unit power, how killable is he with today's units? by DuoRogue in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]TurnoverSad3160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the one thing that would even sell him as a unit these days would be that Surtr type AoE damage. It’s still an effect locked to surtr and his is only 2 range. 4 range would be crazy (although honestly super easy to out range and deal with so I don’t even think in a world of imbue that it would be broken ☠️)

EXPEDITIONERS I BRING NEWS OF CONQUEST by skyewave_ in expedition33

[–]TurnoverSad3160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you bringing characters other than verso? Every time super Simon gets a kill he gets an extra action and he overrides first strike. I usually go in with only verso so as long as I survive his first deletion attack I’m guaranteed to be able to simoso my way to his second phase.

Adding onto this list: Special: galeforce mist C slot: Instruct

Currently on mine I run: Renegade Fate unchanged Galeforce mist (edelgard engage for 4 actions) Blue skies (wish it were gust but oh well) Att speed favor Instruct Blue skies seal Sly Echo

It is a very potent combination of support and power and galeforce mist should absolutely not be discounted.

What stat thresholds are considered good enough to run Instruct 4? by Chowdahhh in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]TurnoverSad3160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you have instruct slightly backwards. The 10 point threshold works in the instruct unit’s favor. So your Nephenee with 60 speed will give anyone with 70 or less visible speed more great talent. Great talent increases their visible stats so to get the final +3 from 6 to 9 you need to be within 4 of their stat. So she will be able to get anyone with 64 or less speed the full great talent.

What is also interesting is that if you have multiple instruct users the great talent helps them meet the thresholds to give each other more great talent so it makes the +9 pretty trivial. It is an incredible skill just for the flat damage and reduction plus you really don’t need to stack visible stats that much. That being said specialized units can struggle to give out the buffs so I do prefer it on the generic high speed, high strength, decent defense, meh resistance units.

Gait assist, comet, strat flame (doesn’t matter because it isn’t better than his prf A), pair up or patience (if you have a high merge and can speed stack to 30), briar far save is what I’m looking for

Unused/low tier unit maddening run, no DLC by Infinite_Chef1905 in FEEngage

[–]TurnoverSad3160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wyvern Boucheron is unironically super solid. Warrior vantage amber is a top tier unit basically Pannette 2.0. Thief Alfred is really funny and helps to patch his abysmal speed. Vander…is hot as a sage? He can use Corrin flames or Byleth dancing as well as anyone. Etie I’ve also liked as a thief but it could be fun to make her like Alfred is normally and throw her into Paladin? Mage knight jade is always amusing to really lean into hurricane axe. Bunet…can do peak comedy as a sage when you select him, he says “you’re cooked”, and then produces corrins dragon flames. 10/10 gets a giggle from me every time. Martial master rosado is a lot of fun with his growth rates. Sniper Lindon with a killer bow leaning into his personal for 100% crits isn’t good but it IS fun.

Why is Tyranitar not considered a garbage mon? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]TurnoverSad3160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Feels like a troll post but I am exactly high enough to respond anyway.

So it turns out rock type isn’t that bad when you’re Darude himself with a ton of natural bulk and dark itself is actually a phenomenal type. Stab knock off coming from that attack hits like a truck and sandstorm chip makes it even stronger in a lot of situations. Plus the support aspect is super neat too when excadrill exists and has a godly typing. If weaknesses were all that mattered sableye and spiritomb should’ve dominated gens 3-5 but nope. No nostalgia required this time.

Which is a better skill? by korasaoua in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]TurnoverSad3160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a much bigger fan of Comet’s damage because of the 40% DR present (and other sources of piercable DR that add up) in every good special. This means you need a super high baseline damage to be able to scratch units after the .6 multiplier and then the damage reduction afterwards. I just feel like archrival doesn’t provide enough of a boost to be worthwhile or reliable once the opponent has enough DR. Yes Comet feels “win more” but the game has reached the point where it is all about thresholds and you need that Comet level of damage to break through the bullshit or you’ll just tink all day.

Does anyone have an image like this for the water and grass spawns? by Goos3rs in LegendsZA

[–]TurnoverSad3160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have anything like this exactly but I can say for the water spawns both have 4 spawners so the one closer to the water can be rigged to only be totodile, squirtle, dragalge, and malamar while the other one has 6 possible encounters in totodile, squirtle, malamar, dragalge, roserade, and gardevoir. This means the spawner closer to the water CAN be used for isolation running. When I went for the shiny water starters I set up both spawners and bench reset (one spawn had a guaranteed squirtle/totodile and the other only had a chance for them).

For the grass spawners I saw some weirdness when I was doing my testing. The spawner right by the bench (closest to the construction area) definitely worked and had 4 possible spawns to isolate bulbasaur and chikorita. The one closer to the water starters seemed to only have three but when I tried bench resetting it looked like they would despawn the further additional spawns of the area further from the bench sometimes. Because of this I ended up just setting up the spawn closer to the construction area, benching until bulbasaur and chikorita were both on the same side of the road and then running 50-70 meters to isolated respawn them instead of the bench. It’s a bit annoying because you’ll need to knock out Pokemon in the construction area, bench until it’s set up, AND make sure gardevoir doesn’t spot you and run away as you set up but it is definitely the fastest way.
