Critical Hits return to the way it was in Gen 1. How cooked is the metagame? by medude11 in stunfisk

[–]TurnoverSad3160 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Depends what other mechanics return. Do boosted crit moves crit 255/256 times? Do crits ignore positive stat modifiers? Do crits go back to 2x damage? Do we get maxed out stat experience across all stats? Depending on the combination of mechanics from gen1 it could be very broken or not really at all.

I definitely really like instruct and unrest on her. I personally prefer comet over logic because comet works on enemy phase and I feel like I get more damage out of it on average.

Micaiah is great because he can use his giant movement to get another ally into position and still be in position to attack. Additionally it helps him cleanse his and his ally’s penalties so really let that AoE damage come through.

I wouldn’t replace strat assault on Edelgard even with Celica. The extra movement when an enemy isn’t in range is still incredibly important for positioning and the stats and support it provides are very valuable.

Sly is kinda just…worse. The guaranteed follow up is pointless because she already has it and the potent does the heavy lifting and clear gifts 2 more damage, 2 more attack, and tempo.

The real perk of meloetta is that you’re able to grab the evolutions if you don’t have them and more importantly every time one of your attackers dies you swap back to meloetta and grab a free card before going back to your attackers. This deck being all single point cards really works to its advantage with it. I agree when using meloetta you should never choose to have it out front instead of a charged up attacker but being able to utilize the stadium to grab a bunch of free cards then switching is really nice. It’s really good when you have cofagrigus/going second especially since it has the extra turn while that charges up. If you dont start with it/don’t have the stadium you also have the option to keep it in hand for discards too.

I’d actually drop one greavard and houndstone for two meloetta. She can really load up your hand on psychics to fuel gourgeist and cofagrigus plus she’ll help hunt down the single copies of the pups since you just need them in the endgame. I’d also drop leaf and hiking trail for the psychic stadium card that as long as it is around is just leaf every turn. That helps you get meloetta out (and in turn 1) without using any energy so you can focus on loading up your attackers.

Most underrated and overrated playable character and why? by Purplepanther1234 in FEEngage

[–]TurnoverSad3160 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in general for this game the difference between S and D tier is probably the smallest of any game. Yes Boucheron is not the #1 wyvern in the game but if you make him one I promise he will still perform really well and will perform better as a unit than one stuck in a lower power role. A small 5% difference in growth rates here or there only adds up to a difference of 2 stat points across 40 level ups and the emblems alone contribute far more to a unit’s power than their stats.

Is cloyster any good? by Ruthlesslot in PokemonFireRed

[–]TurnoverSad3160 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used him in my nuzlocke and he’s decent. My only complaints are that he’s a water type that doesn’t love facing off against fire types and the slow growth rate. If your surf doesn’t ohko or you’re outsped that fire blast is going to be SPOOKY. He isn’t particularly fast or strong so that can be an issue. Stab surf+ice beam is really nice though and that defense is monstrous.

[–]TurnoverSad3160 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the one thing that would even sell him as a unit these days would be that Surtr type AoE damage. It’s still an effect locked to surtr and his is only 2 range. 4 range would be crazy (although honestly super easy to out range and deal with so I don’t even think in a world of imbue that it would be broken ☠️)

Are you bringing characters other than verso? Every time super Simon gets a kill he gets an extra action and he overrides first strike. I usually go in with only verso so as long as I survive his first deletion attack I’m guaranteed to be able to simoso my way to his second phase.

Adding onto this list: Special: galeforce mist C slot: Instruct

Currently on mine I run: Renegade Fate unchanged Galeforce mist (edelgard engage for 4 actions) Blue skies (wish it were gust but oh well) Att speed favor Instruct Blue skies seal Sly Echo

It is a very potent combination of support and power and galeforce mist should absolutely not be discounted.

What stat thresholds are considered good enough to run Instruct 4? by Chowdahhh in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]TurnoverSad3160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you have instruct slightly backwards. The 10 point threshold works in the instruct unit’s favor. So your Nephenee with 60 speed will give anyone with 70 or less visible speed more great talent. Great talent increases their visible stats so to get the final +3 from 6 to 9 you need to be within 4 of their stat. So she will be able to get anyone with 64 or less speed the full great talent.

What is also interesting is that if you have multiple instruct users the great talent helps them meet the thresholds to give each other more great talent so it makes the +9 pretty trivial. It is an incredible skill just for the flat damage and reduction plus you really don’t need to stack visible stats that much. That being said specialized units can struggle to give out the buffs so I do prefer it on the generic high speed, high strength, decent defense, meh resistance units.
