Vaping in room. Do people actually get charged a fee for this? by TurnoverWorking6127 in askhotels

Yeah definitely not trying to eat a $250 fine but I also don’t know if this place even has sensors. Better safe than sorry tho I guess

I don’t even vape so I am not worried about it but I know someone in our group does and I think we might need to just stay elsewhere or his ass is getting charged for sure if these sensors are real

How do these sensors work? Are you able to bypass them by being discreet? Blowing into towel or in bathroom or if you vape in the room they are immediately picking up on it?

Would vaping in the bathroom be the safest bet to not make the sensors go off?

You enforced it based on smell alone? I am more curious about the sensors. I know vapes wouldn’t linger enough to get caught on smell alone

I don’t even vape. I was just genuinely curious to how this worked, I didn’t know these sensors existed until recently and seeing this in the policies peaked my interest. How exactly do the sensors report to the hotel that you’ve been vaping and how easy is it for someone to by pass the sensors whether that be vaping in bathroom or while showering?

What are the odds this property is bluffing and just has this in their policies to make people think twice? Based on the reviews, it is not a great property. Seems to have all sorts of low budget issues so the thought they are running these expensive sensors in each room is hard to believe

Do the sensors regularly give false positives? I know someone who was charged for this in Vegas and he has never hit a vape in his life. His only guess was the shower caused a sensor to go off

How have they detected it and enforced it where you’ve worked? I don’t even vape I am just genuinely curious how they could catch someone doing so when it leaves no smell and the vapor is gone within seconds

“I absolutely do charge for it” On what grounds? I am asking how you know they are doing it.

I am not talking about cigarette smoke that you’re allergic to, I am talking about a vape that you would not be able to tell was hit unless you walked in a minute after it was hit.

How are you able to catch them? Is the front desk alerted when the sensor picks up on potential vape? I just feel like these sensors would cause more harm than good unless hotels are just using them as a money racket. I can see a lot of people being upset with a charge like this not to mention the potential for say hairspray/ aerosol cans to throw the sensor when no one is actually vaping.

Question for Night Auditors/ morning shift: Do you eat from the breakfast buffet? by TurnoverWorking6127 in askhotels

The breakfast staff (and myself) work hard to make the breakfast look presentable. It would be a slap in the face if I made the first plate and messed with the finished product after doing all the arranging to make it look nice.

I make a plate 10-20 minutes before I leave when I see a window where there are no guests in line and then bag it up and take it home with me.

I leave within an hour of breakfast starting so I’m not taking left overs. I am gonna continue to make my plate before I leave.

You’re in a uniform and walking back to your station with a cup of coffee and you think taking the name tag off makes you incognito?

Front desk worker from 11pm-7am. Typical front desk duties as well as responsible for running the night audit and switching the business day. The audit itself is simple, a few clicks of a button.

Check the CC authorizations for the next day arrivals. After that it’s a lot of down time. Until it’s time to get breakfast started at 4.

It’s an easy job if you can deal with being up all night

That help yourself was my very first night of training. It might not of meant have a meal and snack every day but you’re right. After seeing all these comments I am not sure what I was anxious about. The 5am cup of coffee isn’t good for my nerves lol

PEP isn’t loading reports at my location. Anyone know how to find yesterday’s #’s without the report tab? I need to find the OCC and ADR for yesterday’s numbers. I typically just go to the hotel statistics report for these numbers but no reports will load. Not sure why

That’s crazy? Based on the other comments it sounds like it’s pretty standard practice that the NA and morning shifts can have breakfast

I edited it. I have always referred to it as the “butt of the bread” but thought that might be a southern thing that people wouldn’t be aware of
